His populist incline makes his arguments palatable to non-subject matter experts, but much less substantive to experts and researchers in this field. Also lots of opinions stated as fact lead to narrow conclusions on his part. Everything is black or white with Bannon, that's his weakness.
He is an average geo-politicist. He blurts some well known geo-political strategies like Hamman or Spykman and organizations you never heard of and you are impressed. Take a history course or a political science class and you can cover all those topics and gain a greater context of what he is talking about. You might very well disagree with his views if you took the time to study them.
Bannon graduated from Georgetown with a bachelor's degree in national securities and an MBA from Harvard with honors. He was a lieutenant (03) in the Navy and traveled internationally extensively. I used to go by Wisconsin Steel works which were exclusively making frames for International Harvester. Then in the space of a week I witnessed the employees locked out of the plant. The word was that I.H. took their money and the employees pension plan and invested it in a new Chinese factory. This was the start of de industrialization of the midwest states. I believe it was because of the Unions and the power they were wielding at that time. The companies did not want to have any kind power/profit sharing eating into their bottom line and the investment into China screwed the Unions power royally. So fast forward to present day and situation it has royally screwed all Americans to the point where now something has to be done with China. So as someone who has lived long enough to see these situations develop.This was a Made in America problem which stemmed from total greed. All I can say is good luck straightening it all out. When you produce in china the vendor manufacturer’s share is 33% and lower in the case of mass consumer products like toys. The majority margin belongs to the brand which is hardly ever chinese. So whatever the billing from china, twice that is margin distributed over services. The share of Manufacturing is constantly falling. The big question is Are the profits are coming into the USA economy ? Or are they retained offshore? Today manufacturing of commodity offers the lowest added value and destruction of the environment. The great saving profits made when manufacturing is in china does not really come back to the USA. To that extent it makes sense to force factories to get back. However high tech automated manufacturing creates minuscule jobs per billion invested compared to services. The big Corporates working with global subsidiaries are the now bigger than government in flexibility and determine policy. When I was working in Chicago in the late 70s. Everywhere you looked ads were proclaiming the new investment opportunities that awaited anyone willing to send their cash to China. I used to go by Wisconsin Steel works which were exclusively making frames for International Harvester. Then in the space of a week I witnessed the employees locked out of the plant. The word was that I.H. took their money and the employees pension plan and invested it in a new Chinese factory. This was the start of de industrialization of the midwest states. I believe it was because of the Unions and the power they were wielding at that time. The companies did not want to have any kind power/profit sharing eating into their bottom line and the investment into China screwed the Unions power royally. So fast forward to present day and situation it has royally screwed all Americans to the point where now something has to be done with China. So as someone who has lived long enough to see these situations develop.This was a Made in America problem which stemmed from total greed. All I can say is good luck straightening it all out. We have our work cut out for us. Lord Jesus save us from ourselves.

When USA had manufacturing the share of manufacturer was almost 66% of sale value. When you produce in china the vendor manufacturer’s share is 33% and lower in the case of mass consumer products like toys. The majority margin belongs to the brand which is hardly ever chinese. So whatever the billing from china, twice that is margin distributed over services. The share of Manufacturing is constantly falling. The big question is Are the profits are coming into the USA economy ? Or are they retained offshore? Today manufacturing of commodity offers the lowest added value and destruction of the environment. The great saving profits made when manufacturing is in china does not really come back to the USA. To that extent it makes sense to force factories to get back. However high tech automated manufacturing creates minuscule jobs per billion invested compared to services. The big Corporates working with global subsidiaries are the now bigger than government in flexibility and determine policy. What is true and a shame is that the wall street elite are always for sale to the highest bidder.
