Importance of Transformer Core Ground | One Ground Point
There is a capacitive coupling between the windings and core. The core should be grounded at one point only to prevent creating a loop for circulating currents. In large transformers, cooling ducts are used between certain sections of the core for cooling purposes. In this case one core ground should be used per core section. However, some practices may use a conductor to bridge adjacent core sections that have cooling duct between them, which would not need multiple core ground. The core frames should also have one ground point, too, to avoid creating loops for circulating currents.
