    I’m just sad it’s over. We got the gift of a full week of Dawn reacting to a fun and entertaining run of movies. It was like digital Christmas but…Christmas is over, we’re bored with our toys and are bracing for that yucky goodby smooch from Granny. Just depressed myself even further.🤪

      I think part of the problem was that we were just a year out of the global pandemic. Movie Theaters were still practically dead in attendance. Watching movies at home and we're getting real comfortable not going to the movies. Tell you from yesterday things have really changed. I saw Deadpool/ Wolverine and the parking lot was packed. It had been almost a year since I was at that movie theater, and this was last movie I saw there. A year can make a difference.

And I'll just throw out a recommendation, another movie near the top of my list, Alita Battle Angel, directed by Robert Rodriguez but very much a James Cameron project, a collaboration. One of the most critically under-rated films when it released, but streaming audiences gave it the high ratings it deserves. And in series, I strongly must recommend Arcane.

    The future doesn't exist, neither does the past. It's always the current moment and the current moment is always a result of the prior current moment. Reality is like infinite dominos. Everything happens exactly as it was always going to and can't go any other way. Great reaction Marie like always this movie is EPIC, and what a twist i didnt expect Ilsa dying. But i understand Ilsa's death is a turning point for the franchise, as it deeply affects Ethan Hunt and sets up emotional stakes for the upcoming film. It also creates a personal grievance against Gabriel, adding another reason for vengeance, But she will appear in the next MI8 movie as flashbacks moments.
    And some funfacts about this movie, Cruise's co-star Pom Klementieff says there is one stunt Cruise was not on board with while filming. During a fight sequence set in Venice, Klementieff asked the actor to kick her in the stomach, which he absolutely refused to do. "I kept telling him to just kick me here," the actress says. "I was squeezing abs. [I said], 'You can just go for it.' He was like 'No, no, no, no, no.' I was like, 'But it's going to help me!' But he wouldn't do it."
    Cruise destroyed six motorcycles in just one day while filming, by driving them off a cliff. "In terms of this movie, definitely the motorcycle jump [was the scariest]," McQuarrie says. Vanessa Kirby says filming was so specific, she did 40 takes of her simply picking up a key. "We did 40 takes of picking up a key, and it was so fun because actually, you realize by take 30, you're thinking as an actor, yeah, you're just picking up a key, but I thought, 'How many ways can a human being pick up a key?'" she says. Btw you edit out so many important scenes...

    • @jimdetry9420

      What is the European word for 1,000 million? Or don't they have one? If you use metric notation it goes
      K=Kilo=1,000 = American thousand = 10^3
      M=Mega=1,000,000 = 1,000 K = American Million = 10^6
      G=Giga=1,000,000,000 = 1,000 M = American Billion = 10^9
      T=Tera=1,000.000.000,000 = 1,000 G = American Quadrillion = 10^12
      etc.
      Since metric was invented in France, I'm surprised they don't have a word for what is between M & T. And what do they call 10^12?

    • @dolf370
      @dolf370 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jimdetry9420In sweden 1000 million is called 1 milliard, I don't know how common that is in other European countries. In any case, in UK a billion was a European billion up until 1974 at which point it got changed to the American billion.
      A simple way I found to use is that for American you start with 1000 and add 3 zeroes for each step (i.e. 6 zeros for a million, 9 for billion, 12 for trillion, 15 for quadrillion etc.)
      For the European system you start with 1 and add 6 zeros for each step (i.e. 6 zeros for million, 12 for billion, 18 for trillion, 24 for quadrillion)

And I can't help but feel like the big stunt of the finale, being him free diving to that submarine....no scuba suit, or oxygen tank...and he will sacrifice himself to take out the AI. He has said his friends lives are worth more to him then his own life, and that with confuse and conflict with the AI, as it has no friends, it can't understand sacrificing itself for others.

    This installment really took me by surprise. I'm surprised more people didn't like it. For me, it was the perfect blend of the fun and excitement of GP and RN, and the darkness and intensity of Fallout. The 2 hours and 40 minutes I spent watching it in the theater seemed to fly right by, and I definitely consider it my favorite entry in the franchise. It also helped that there were a lot of crappy movies released around the same time ("The Little Mermaid", "Indiana Jones 5") that I was able to compare it to.

The scene where the young dude with the bag gives Ethan his next mission Ethan tells the kid “you made the right choice. Welcome to the IMF” In other words “you made the right choice. Welcome to Scientology “ The IMF is a metaphor for Scientology espionage. Gabriel is the evil Jesus where The Entity is God. Only Scientology Ethan can defeat Jesus and bring down God.

    No matter what people tell you, this movie didn't fail because of the pandemic or theater troubles or any other excuse. It was the little things.
    It failed because of all of the little stupidly bad story and writing choices, such as this deconstructive moment.
    Instead of choosing a cool car to do cool things in, they do the opposite. All these little things add-up to a sub-par mediocre film.

    The did IIsa Faust dirty. It's 2024 and the once hippest action film franchise in one swift throwaway opening prologue pulled the lamest misogynistic creative choice from less enlightened times (dawn of man to five years ago) and played the played out tired cheap laziest catalyst for plot and character motivation for a movie ever: the Fridge The Girl card. Only it didn't even factor into Ethan's internal motivational forward propulsion to drive him and the story's narrative ahead in any way. They had writer's block for an opening show stopper to top the previous entries so they fell back on the hackiest trick in the amateur hour book: kill the female potential love interest for shock value in lou of any actual interesting worthwhile ideas or further character exploration and growth. Nah. Not when you can go old school like the bad old days to the male chovanist pig golden age of LaLa Land where female characters are just accessories and window dressing to add a half inch to the leading man's weiner to put him at a solid robust 2 and a half inches of pink steel, baby. Why five IIsa her own agency and urgency as a living breathing three dimensional character with depth and sense of BLAMO Nope, wrongo bongo, bucko. We'll have none of that progressive forward thinking men and women on equal footing woke mumbo jumbo business here, Nancy Boy. It instantly was a rude jolt awakening that this whole franchise enterprise is exclusively a strictly good ol boys boys club slickly run operation and keeping the old Hollywood traditions alive and well. My question is how was Rebecca Furgasen here for her five minute unceremonious send off and not in the kitchen. How'd she get out? Somebody needs to answer for this. Heads will roll. If she's in the movie, who's making cookies? That was a pointless death. It wasn't respectful. They cut her down and replaced her with Peggy Carter, till she gets the Star Trek expendable red shirt security officer treatment and put out to pasture for the next newer model and flavor of the month. Or whenever the actress turns thirty. Which ever comes first. It felt like someone spiced in a two minute scene from a snuff film, but without the inherent morbid thrill or optimism. This was just cynical and morally wrong. A snuff film might be just misguided film buffs confusing commerce with misplaced pretentious artistic leanings wildly inappropriate and socially irresponsible, but well intentioned. The makers of MI:8: Oh, these goat f*ckers knew what they were doing....
