You think you've heard everything when you have heard a young Barenboim and numerous others all play this piece and doing it so well over the last 70 years. This young pianist just takes your breath away.

I'm brought into a musical world of storytelling by YunChan's playing, and I suspect the whole orchestra feel the same being led by his marvellous interpretation.
I am addicted to this. I listen to this several times a day. The more I listen to, the more I fall for it.
How can you not love him? When I listen to Yunchan playing, which is wild yet restrained, a perfect blend of cool reason and passion, I feel as if he is throwing himself at the keys. Some of the passionate notes Yunchan plays electrify me. Schumann fought legal battles for years for his youthful passion, and Yunchan is an expression of that passion. And as a contemplative old man whose enthusiasm had waned, it became a daily pleasure to anticipate what this young maestro would do next. At first I was convinced he was a great pianist after hearing him play Rachmaninoff and Liszt, but it was his Beethoven that really impressed me, and he continues to amaze me, and it makes me sad that I won't have time to see him grow up long enough. He's not just a good pianist; he's not just an outstanding or extraordinary pianist. I just appreciate his music.
Thank you I totally agree with you. His music excites the senses and makes us older people hope for music again, at least it does me, and sounds as though it does you too. I also pray that I am alive long enough to hear Yunchan play the Brahms concerti if he chooses to do so.

When i listen to his playing, i always feel this world is so worth living. I love his Beethoven. He is going to perform Beethoven concerto no. 4 next month, one of the pieces he likes so much. Am looking forward so eagerly.

Just when you think you know enough about a piece and have heard all the possible interpretations, a young man appears and surprises you with a brilliant, fresh and charming interpretation. Thank you for sharing this precious record.
Mr Lim Yunchan is very lyrical, poetic, gentle in his interpretation of this concerto. He has collaborated very well with this Symphony Orchestra and the Conductor. He emphasized some melodic lines unheard of in other current popular versions of this concerto. Yunchan's masterly account perhaps speaks of the love of Schumann and Clara Schumann and his admiration of Brahms. He may soon be one of the greatest pianists in the early and mid 21st century.

He just turned 19. He is starting to learn what love, tenderness is and what a life is..I love his vibrant interpretation of pieces which suits his young age. He is not a pretender or a show-off. He is just being very pure expressing what he felt through the pieces. Maybe there is 60+ active years more to come to navigate his musical world and I am so ready to stand with him😍 (shame I am too old to follow through his whole life 😢)
I don't believe he's starting to learn anything. His ancient soul is merely expressing itself and the profundity of the music.
I would like to listen to his Schumann piano concerto every phase of his life. It will be different each time.
He probably spends upwards of 10 hours a day at the piano I can't imagine he's learning much about 'life' as we all know it, none the less, he's an astounding pianist
But perhaps he doesn't need to learn anything new about life, having been around the block countless times. You don't get to be so great a pianist in one lifetime of 19 years! @@chester6343

Another level of performance! Absolutely Breathtaking!
I'm not familiar with the Schumann concerto, so have nothing to compare this performance with. (It's because of Yunchan I am listening to it.) However, in Yunchan's hands there is his exceptional clarity, and once again I am not disappointed and don't question his intention - knowing it is rooted in his love for music and is not ego-based. After listening to this, I could look up other performances and compare, but don't feel the need to render that kind of judgment. The reactions in the comments section, in their range of opinion, demonstrate how art affects each of us differently. I am happy to report my delight and satisfaction with this performance.

공유 너무 감사합니다. 역시 너무 아름답네요. 헝가리 심포니 오케스트라인가요?뭔가 임윤찬과 오케스트라가 잘 어울러지는데요. 음악당 음향도 좋고... 임윤찬씨는 다른 피아니스트들과는 달리 왼손이 오른손보다 뒤처지지않아 베이스음이 정말 명료하게 나기땜 음뭉개짐현상이 없어 너무 좋고 고양감을 어찌 이렇게 잘 일으키는지 모르겠어요... 클래식은 그냥 마음의 안정을 위해 듣는 음악이였는데 임윤찬씨 플레잉을 들으면 흥분되기도하고..ㅋㅋ
어떻게 말로 설명하기 어려웠는데 고양감을 일으킨다는 표현이 윤찬님 연주와 딱 인것 같아요❤

This performance stands up well along side the great performances of this work, including that of Dinu Lipatti. Yunchan and the HRSO produce a wonderful sonic experience and give this great romantic piano concerto all the passion and intelligent interpretation it deserves. Many thanks for the upload.
Right, never afraid of showing passion and heart but they never get in the way of the very rational structuring he does. Simply, he’s a master of both which is rare and extinct in this age.
My favorite started at 30:06. I wish it was longer. 🤧 Yunchan lim's playing made me look back to classical music. The music became easy to listen. What a prodigy!

The orchestra is also so wonderful. I couldn't hide my excitement at the cello sound in the 2 Mov. Needless to say, Yunchan playing is incredibly amazing.

한편의 영화감상을 한것 같은 기분이다.윤찬님의 연주를 접하는 하나하나가 너무 멋진 영화를 본 것같은..서사가 눈앞에 펼쳐진다. 내가 이 음악가의 연주를 계속 듣는 이유이기도하다. 질리지 않고 자꾸생각나서 찾게되는 재미난 이야기를 찾아보듯이. 자꾸 설득되고 이 감독의 이야기들이 나를 감동시킨다. 그 누가뭐라해도 내겐 명작이다.
For long, I thought the Schumann Piano Concerto is all about yearning for love and a relief from all the struggles and stresses as the Schumann Family finally formed. Through Lim’s unique pianism, I learned there was a great element of celebration (1st movement) and excitment of the new Schummans (3rd movement) with lots of hope for their future. Perhaps Clara’s contribution to the second and third movement was greater than I guessed as in Lim’s music. What a great interpretation!

슈만 피협을 좋아해서 여러 음반과 공연을 들어봤지만 이렇게 섬세하면서도 단단하고 우아하면서도 개성적인 연주는 처음 들어봅니다. 모든 노트들이 뛰놀면서 어우러지는 것 같은 카덴차도 제 귀엔 너무 완벽해요.
저도 공감되네요. 다른 연주자들과 다른 윤찬의 지문이 찍혀있는 듯한 해석이 들어볼수록 새록새록 나타나서, 베토벤 황제 피협을 다시 눈뜨게 해주더니 슈만의 피협을 또 이같은 해석으로 들려주니 너무 좋습니다.
그는 모든 곡을 새로 그려내는 보물같은 피아니스트입니다.
정말 클래식의 어나더레벨인 것 같습니다.

지난주 일요일 저녁에 직접 가서 들었는데 뭐라 표현을 하지 못할 정도로 황홀했어요. 음 하나하나 비는 공간 없이 아름다운 연주(심지어 건반을 치고 있지 않아도), 관객이 꽃을 들고 있는데 객석에 쪽으로 가서 꽃다발을 받는 매너, 공연이 끝나고 객석에 앉아서 다음 오케스트라 연주를 듣는 예의. 두 번의 앙코르 공연도 정말 최고였고요. 삶을 행복하게 해주셔서 진심으로 고맙습니다

I wouldn't say that YC is the most mature pianist (although I am sometimes surprised by his maturity), but he is a young teenage pianist with the courage to try new things. He is fantastic!

Thank you very much Yunchan. Brilliant interpretation. I loved the way Yunchan brings out lesser heard melodies in the left hand in this. Sparkling and exciting performance. Nis performances are electrifying and courageous. Good recording. The piano wasn't quite up to his incredible ability although he brings out the best in it. I think he is capable already of setting a new bar for Steinway to meet, which I sincerely hope they can. Would love to have been able to watch this performance on video. Is there one?

음악이면서 시 같기도 하고 그림 같기도 하고 영화 같기도 하네요 .. 덕분에 음악에도 이렇게 다양한 심상이 있다는 걸 알게 됐어요 .. 당신은 천재 입니다 임윤찬.. 천재를 넘어 이제는 거장으로 가는 당신과 당신의 음악을 지지합니다.

양극성 장애를 앓았던 슈만의 극복하려는 의지를 느낄 수 있는 그 부분인데 루돌프 제르킨 연주/ 유진 오먼디 지휘본도 추천합니다. 관록을 느낄 수 있어요

Far, far better than the later Radio France version, where the conductor(Chung) insisted too much on his tempo and color clouding much of the splendor and and originality of the soloist which is heard here. I can’t tell I’m a big fan of Chung. Together, they feel like the mix of oil and water. Meanwhile this performance is pulsating in all its celestial beauty. I love love this❤❤❤. I eagerly wait for the release of its video recording if there’s any.

I've been waiting my whole life for a pianist to "sing" the melody in the Liebestraume and Yunchan does it the best of any pianist I've ever heard! 🤩On top of that, his LH complements the melody so magnificently!

이어서 몇자 덧붙이면, 조성진 연주 유투부에는 비하하는 댓글이 없는데 임윤찬 연주에는 왜 그렇게 하는지 설마 팬은 이닐거고 그외 사람일수 있을수 있음 그래서 요즘에는 조성진 연주를 잘 안듣게 된다. ㄷ 아티스트들에게는 허물이 없다. 아름다운 대한민국의 거장들이다. 악플을 하는 사람은 자제하고 전문가가 차단했으면 좋겠다. 클래식의 이미지가 무너져 버린다. 예술이기 전에 인간이되라
그러게요. 저도 초반에 조성진 관심갖고 찾아듣다 점점 시들해져서 안듣게 되었지만 그냥 내 취향 탓이려니 하고 말았지 비판하는 글 올리는 건 꿈도 안꿨었는데 이런 악플 쓰는 사람들은 무슨 생각인 건지 이해가 안되네요. 그저 본인 상상 속에 라이벌 구도를 만들어 놓고 상대편(?)을 모욕하면 자기가 좋아하는 이의 위치가 견고해지는듯한 유치한 생각을 하는 걸까요.
그리고 어떤 곡이든 자기 취향 맞는 연주자 찾아 들으면 될 걸마치 본인만 음악을 아는양 굳이 댓글에다 이 곡은 이렇게 연주하면 안되네, 누구게 더 낫네 ... 훈계하는 사람들 - 정말 짜증납니다.
조성진 ba퀴 팬들이 임윤찬한테 질투가 심해서 영상마다 악플을 다는 듯 합니다. 그들의 과거 댓글들을 보면 조성진 팬들임
여기도 출구가없이 계속 돌아오게되네요. 파리 슈피협도 물론 좋았지만 전 헝가리 오케스트라의 연주소리가 더 좋기도 하고 윤찬님의 날것이 파닥파닥이는 느낌..내 가슴이 벅차올라서 환희에 가득차다 눈물이 터질것같은 기분을 느끼게 해준건 여기 슈피협인것같아요..ㅠㅠㅠ누가출구좀 알려주세요ㅠㅠ
