Thank you John, just shared your video on our Facebook Group "Excavator (Diggers) Restoration Projects" I don't think my slew gear teeth on my PelJob as seen the light of day
Alex Spence, If care is not taken when these diggers are cleaned using a pressure washer, dirt can get splashed up into this area and not be seen :( . thanks for the comment.
I have a problem with the swing motor on the Chinese mini-excavator, which means that when the dome turns in a certain position, it squeaks, I feel as if it is grinding on some sheet metal. What could be the problem?
I assume that you had the boom taken off in order to be able to swing it as I can't imagine the boom being raised off the ground without hydraulic oil in the lines.
My Day, The boom was still attached in a raised position while the work was being carried out, hydraulic oil in each of all rams is trapped providing the levers are not moved.
Brad 72, Yes it sounds easy when you say it like that, but in reality if you try and access the slew gear & pinion from underneath you first have to raise the digger and support it, then after removing the cover underneath you are faced with two horizontal hydraulic rams running close together and a mass of hydraulic hoses this makes it almost impossible to even see the slew gear & pinion let alone get access to it, then if you make any attempt to clean the area the dirt falls down on top of you, (been there done that) This is why I showed the simple method of removing the drive motor & pinion from above which can then be cleaned & greased easily on the bench also leaving clear access to the slew gear allowing proper service to be carried out.
@@Brad-lt6mr I now see where the confusion is, my video is referring to a jcb "microw" digger as in the video title, where as you are referring to a jcb "8016", these machines are built differently, you can not access the slew ring gear from underneath on a jcb "microw" digger.
Hi John Very helpful video as I have just bought a 801.4 and have a few jobs to do on it. Do you work commercially or hobby? Where in the Uk are you? Michael
Malvern Miichael, glad to here the video was helpful, this job was done on my own J C B, I do run a small engineering business mainly fabricating stainless steel, based on the north Wales / Cheshire border.
All your videos are extremely helpful to me, I have the save machine purchased second hand. Thank you for taking the time to make them.
Glad to help, thanks for the comment

@@johnbower Okay. Thanks
I access the slew pinion on my JCB mini from underneath, by simply removing the cover in the centre of the track frame.

Can you use moly grease in the ball bearing area of slewing ring?
It is not a good idea to mix different greases, I use JCB blue grease as recommended.
