- Commonly called a slewing bearing, Rotec bearing or a turn table bearing, these components are very expensive to replace on any excavator or crane. We show you one common issue plus how to measure the free play in the bearing on an excavator.
Excellent information 👍
Nice shoot, can I ask what is the maximum tolerance when you need to replace the swing bearing, thank you and waiting for your response.God bless
I have never gotten a straight answer from any factory rep on any make of excavator. When the play gets up in the ninety or hundred thousand range you usually see flakes of metal in the grease dripping off the bearing. When the pinion gear seal starts leaking, I know for sure it's time.
Thanks!!! Awesome explanation.
👍nice job explaining
Thank you!
Nice video! My 312 cat has just about 40 thousanths of play. Still good for a while i take it?
You shouldn't have any problems with that.
Would 1/8 of an inch be too much play on a 307e2 cat?
That would be a considerable amount of play. One eighth inch would be 0 .125 inch in decimal measure and a 307E2 Caterpillar is a small excavator. There was a problem in the small Cat excavators around that time where the inside mounting bolts for the bearing were breaking. You might check with your Cat Dealer to see if it might be affecting your machine.
@@repairsecrets@repairsecrets Thanks, I'll check it out. yeah, cat quoted 16 grand to replace it.
I have a question my machine when I am swinging it doesn't want to stop it wants to keep swing only when going to the left have any ideas how to fix it
I can only give you general information as I have no idea the make, model and serial number of your machine. Swing functions are operated by a hydraulic motor that has pressure relief valves, check valves and counter balance valves. All those are usually mounted in the top of the motor. I would suggest getting at least and parts breakdown of the swing motor and try to figure out what is going wrong.
Swing brake clutch pack is spring applied hydraulic released may be a control leak in valve body on swing motor
Where can i find that tool?
Are you talking about the dial indicator?
Grease several times every week
Are you saying grease the machine several times a week or the swing bearing. I believe the video states the time frame for the swing bearing as much less that that.
