    You look and sound like there's a crew behind cameras, but is a one man show, incredible setup. Thank you for sharing so much Pat.

    Wow. So cool. Quite a difference from when we built your first studio. Looks really good man. I'm surprised you can get so many sources using the MacBook Pro. 😳 Your quality is off the charts. 🤘😎 Really enjoying your journey.

    Pat wanted to take a moment and say, thank you so much for making all types of videos like this and more. I’m doing TH-cam TikTok and etc, and this helped me a ton onto where/what to do next!!! I love doing it as well

    Love this, have saved to watch over a few times!
    I also have the RCP for podcasting but I don’t like to use the noise gate - I find it too distracting. Even in Pats video you can hear the background noise when he speaks and then it cuts out when he stops. I wish RCP had a noise reduction feature not a hard gate.
    I’m having more luck using the software Krisp over the top to remove noise rather than the RCP.
    The rest of the RCP is great though 😊👍🏻

    Ok. So talk about perfect timing. I have heard so many people talk about the Rodecaster Pro. I thought it was a mic. lol... Embarassing. So, now I have one. Just arrived. Once I get the right flippin cord, I will be good to ...well, I can at least turn it on. So, your video basically just rocks. Period. Thank you!

    Awesome setup and tour! Thank you!
    I would recommend against using the noise gate on the Rodecaster pro though. You get a lot of background hiss when you're speaking, but not when you're silent. Quite disturbing when watching the video with a good pair of headphones :) Much better to fix it in post in this case.

    Thanks for sharing this detailed video of your setup Pat. Obviously very impressive. The one thing I don’t understand though is how you are managing to use three different video cams simultaneously over USB on your Mac without having your fans running overtime. When I just use my Logitech c920 on a fairly recent MacBook Pro the fan kicks in (using just Teams, Outlook and Chrome). I guess I would’ve expected you to need something like an ATEM mini, though that would require hdmi cams instead of usb.

    Hey Pat thanks for this video, I'm currently researching people's studio setups especially in the lighting area as I've been having some troubles since I moved my desk to a different area of my room last year, but even then my main source of light is up high and so I get lots of shadows on my desk and having just tried to film a card video using a phone mount (rather than using a tripod for my Canon 750D that I zoom in) my desk is super dark when trying to film with my Galaxy S7. I watched your other video regarding filming from an iPhone but also iPhones have some of the best low light performance for some time, that might not be as true of a statement now but it was 5 years ago ish when I last bought most of the equipment in my setup

    Hey Pat-
    If you're hosting a call with a guest speaker, how do you manage the audio feeds? Do you use speakers/headphones to be able to engage with the guest speaker's audio and how do you cancel this sound out if you're using speakers with the microphone you are using?

  • @ChrisFontenot

    This is great and thank you for creating this video! I noticed that while you clicked around on your keyboard, especially while configuring the streamdeck, none of those clicks could be heard (or at least I didn't hear them). Is that because of the shotgun style mic, the rode soundboard you were capturing the sound on, or postprocessing to remove those sounds? My biggest challenge right now is finding a nice mic that won't also make the listener super annoyed while I type out code, fill in forms while demoing something, even just clicking the mouse buttons.

How do I route the audio to OBS from the Stream Deck? I'm on a Mac.

    Great video! Thank you, Pat. Question: How do you deal with the heat being generated by all the equipment and gear being used? Do you have an a/c unit running while you work, record or livestream? If yes, then how do you deal with the noise generated by the a/c? I have been using a Rode Video Mic along with Ecamm, but my audio results are poor :( And of course I don’t have all the equipment you use... how could I fix my issue? Thank you so much for your help.

    Of all the amazing quality products you demoed for us, the sound is absolutely terrible. Listening in on Sennheiser headphones, and all the noise from your Rode NTG is just horrendous. You over thought your lighting. If you were broadcasting love songs with delila id say okay or if you where shooring a movie scene then a shadow effect works.
    Outside of that all you need to do is separate foreground from background. Even up lighting of you and have definition in your background thats it.
    You wasted half the video on lighting for a romantic broadcast
    LOL
    When i first started the video my thought was "nice background but uneven lighting on him" then i heard your logic.
    My opinion is the same. I get your logic but lighting needs to match its purpose. A podcast is a podcast with the exception of romance themed shows and even then its even lighting with a softer tone and defined background to set mood

    • @patflynn
      @patflynn  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the honest feedback Anthony. As a reminder, this isn’t for a podcast, it’s a live stream and it’s my style. Nothing in here was about how I think anyone *should* do things. Anyone can take bits or pieces of this and use that as inspiration for anything. I respect your opinion, butI don’t want to do what everyone else is doing, and this is answering the most common question I get after streaming for 200+ days and performing lots of virtual conferences as a speaker lately. I appreciate you, and all the best! 🙌🏼

    • @anthonymiller7992
      @anthonymiller7992 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patflynn i get it and respect your choice of style. Your video will show those that understand lighting from a professional angle that its not a mistake but a choice.
      I love the audio board but am disappointed in the newer versions however because they took away the phone in channel and went to more of a live mix desk and moved away from the podcast style of this version. I wish they would have kept the podcast theme while incorporating a live mix desk. Nor did they move to auto moving faders as you move through the layers. Love the board but am disappointed in the newer models to a point.
      But man you have one hell of a camera setup though! Hats off on that!
      While i may not do podcasts i've been studying the art of live/recorder performances for years. As a person who has watched people grow and watch myself grow in my private study of the art.The day you stop looking at yesterday and asking yourself what was i thinking and why did i do it that way is the day you stop learning and growing.
      Wish you the best...
