Sharetta Lee low porosity means that's this will be WAY too harsh on your hair. There are softer protein treatments for low porosity hair. This is for normal to high porosity hair.
Naptural85 What's up beautiful? It's seemed as if you were gone a looong time. Nice to see you looking gorgeous as usual. I'll definitely give this one a try. I've started protein treatments since June of this year, but I'm not too sure about it yet. After December I'll see if there are any drastic changes. Thanks for another DIY. God bless you and your family.
I'm going to try this protein mask and its easy to make 😆 thanks for sharing .your hair is so shining and beautiful and its growing long 😊💜💙✨🎆🎇. your hair videos helps me a lot 😆😄😊
DIY Gelatin Hair Mask! This super easy homemade protein treatment helps to strengthen your hair and promotes shine! Using the same ingredient, hydrolyzed collagen, found in the popular apHogee protein treatment, this is a super cheap alternative for those looking to save some cash! I hope it helps! XO, Nap
Another recipe: 1 tbsp collagen peptides or hydrolyzed collagen 1 tbsp coconut oil 1 tbsp olive oil 1 tsp honey Do this no more than once a month. Follow up with a DC
Just tried this gelatin protein treatment, keeping all of the measurements/ ingredients the same, and can confirm it works like a charm 👌. My hair felt so much stronger and curls were revived and extremely defined. I definitely give this treatment a 10/10. Thanks Whitney!!!
You can drink a pack of gelatin with hot coffee. It helps grow strong nails and hair that way also. You have to add coffee to the pack of gelatin gradually and stir good to get it to dissolve properly.
Literally in awe at how your "dusty/crusty" hair is still what I'd spend hours to achieve. Queen! You've seriously set the bar for natural hair media, and you also frontrun trends! Edit: Really missed this type of video, it's the kind tht put me on to an all natural routine!
Always dropping great hair knowledge. I like the fact you have shown the good, bad, ugly and how to get back to the good~it's much more relatable and it shows us that natural hair is a process but we must be patient with our hair!
I know I am tardy to the party, tried this today and GIRL... my hair was so soft after deep conditioning. My hair has never felt that way. I will be doing this once a month.
Watch out now Whitney you just might put Aphogee out of business!! Lol😮 Thanks you so much for sharing and your hair is growing back beautifully, always look forward to your vids.
Great cheap alternative to Aphogee! Thanks for hooking us up as always 😉 I just saw your ad for Walmart, it's so cute 😊 Positive image of a brown family😀 👍
I love protein treatments and do them twice a month. Trying this, but adding more conditioner and gelatin so it will be thick enough for me to sit under my steamer with it! I also like to cold seal with avocado water I mix up.
Started watching your videos years ago and I just wanted to say thank you..at that time did a big chop off of my hair and using your DIY my hair has grown back so fast and healthy...that you so much naptural85
Thanks for the video. I never knew gelatin had these properties. This looks like a good alternative to the Aphogee 2 Step treatment which is messy and requires a hood dryer (it was the only reason I would ever set foot in a salon). The Aphogee 2 min reconstructor is still a great gentle protein treatment which is quick and easy for express wash days.
Wow Ive got to try this one, you're so creative ,I needed a protein treatment but I kept putting it out because of the price of the aphogee ,now I don't have to anymore, thank you
Hey Kik! Thanks but don't be jealous, I think it only SEEMED to grow back fast. I dyed it in 2014, and it's JUST now showing HEALTHY length in 2017, so that about 3 years! Normal growth, so hang in there! 💗💗💗
I just straightened my hair today and was trying to figure out what kind of protein treatment to do when I go back to my curls. You read my mind ! 🙌🏽 thanks Whit !
I will definitely try...but what I have come to love is the homemade flax seed gel!!!!! OMG that is my favorite. I have curls for days and normally by the end of the week, only have to touch up the sides or the back....thanks for taking the time to share.
Whitney, thank you! This is just in time for my hair! Can't wait to do this before I go back to my loose twists protective style. Thank you so much for another great DIY.
Yh it really did I saw a little curl pattern in parts of my hair (I have a 4c texture) I am in love with this especially since I already had everything at home
I swear, if she told us to scoop used cat litter, grind it to a powder, add 1 cup of Aloe Vera, 6 drops of lavender and co wash our hair with it---WE'D DO IT! 😂😂😂😂
Actually if you have silica cat litter clean litter grinded up might even be a good idea since silica is the most important substance after oxygen and water... it makes collagen for skin and bones it makes calcium intake possible it creates the protiene keratin and enamel of tour teeth silica is much needed in your hair. But using horsetail is mabey cleaner easier and less crazy 🤔😉 But yes. Witney for the win.
Thanks, Whitney. I may try this out. I am, definitely, adding this to my playlist of natural hair routines. Love you and your family. Have a blessed weekend.
Hey Whitney, I've been watching your vids for a few years now and you've taught me almost everything I know about caring for my natural hair so thank you! I also wanted to ask, How did you get those curly/stretched waves at the end? Your hair is beautiful.
I do my protein treatments as a prepoo. My hair doesn't like too much protein. I add the Great Lakes unflavored gelatin in a cup of cold water until it's almost too viscous work with. I leave it on for an hour then proceed with my wash routine. I only do it every 3 months or so otherwise I get crunchy dry hair.
So my hair has been acting up since November !!🙈😔😛😂 That was the last time I got beautiful coils from root to ends..All of a sudden no matter what I did it was VERY limp and lifeless.. I said it was the winter cold,I said it was the high humidity but I just got so depressed. I also haven't been able to grow my hair past my shoulders for 6 years !!But this past year I have managed to get it pas my shoulders💖😍💖 This also may be the cause!? I tried this mask !! It did indeed act like a pick me up,but not to my hairs full potential.. How often can I do this safely !? I would love any feedback anyone has??💕💜✨🌺 My hair ranges in all in the 3's department and I wash my hair every other week...Thanks💋💋💋💋💋
😇Have you ever used Organic Blackstrap Molasses unsulphured as a hair mask? Other TH-camrs say it's a natural way to condition, soften and add shine to hair and with continued use it permanently covers gray (but that's along with drinking 2 tablespoons of it with hot water per day). I just bought some to test out... I'm going to try the gelatin mask too; but at a later date... Thanks for the video!!!☺
Doing this tomorrow. I'm so excited. Will film too! Last time I did a protein treatment was with the cherry lola treatment about 2 years ago. Noticed my hair is getting stringy and kinda showing signs of hygral fatigue so it's about that time 😌💁🏾
Thanks for your video. How often do I use, after cancer treatments. My hair is starting to grow. Had one protein treatment on the 1st when next please,
I have natural shiny hair to but dusty crusty lol girl.My hair breaks out from olive oil and coconut oil my skin is very sensitive I can use it but not to much.I love alot of your videos.
HI Naptural85, I refer to your videos whenever I have a natural hair question. I love the hair whips - LOVE< LOVE< LOVE! You have variations of hairstyles yet, you can still wash-and-go. I manipulate the front of my hair a lot, for work & my question is: How can I regenerate, promote, train back, the elasticity in my coils?
I'm trying to figure out what editing trick you did to make those measuring cups look like they were lined up perfectly as soon as you put them down. I don't know why I find little editing tricks like that very cool.
quick question does this work on straight hair too? i got my hair permed recently and my hair is very damaged and breaking off and stretchy. will this work for my hair and my hair was naturally straight. thanks for the diy idea!
Great Video! This might sound weird but I use melted peanut butter mixed with some conditioner and oil. Curl definition is amazing and it leaves my hair feeling strong. (Make sure to rinse out with warm/hot water if you do it though.)
Important Note: Not everyone can handle protein treatments, make sure to do a patch test is you're unsure if you're protein sensitive Xo! 💗
How do u do a patch test....especially on a twa that is VERY low porosity?
This video is so timely. Thanks Whit!
Sharetta Lee low porosity means that's this will be WAY too harsh on your hair. There are softer protein treatments for low porosity hair. This is for normal to high porosity hair.

Naptural85 how did you stretch your hair?
Naptural85 can you do a video on how you got your final hairstyle? It looks great!
Hey Yahtzee! It's a stretched curlformer set! th-cam.com/video/IkqmkhJMJVQ/w-d-xo.html 💗💗
Naptural85 Hey babe! I hope all is well with you and yours. Thank you, doll.
Emma N'ena she's not vegan
Another recipe:
1 tbsp collagen peptides or hydrolyzed collagen
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp honey
Do this no more than once a month. Follow up with a DC
Makes way more sense because the oil and water have no was to emulsify in her recipe

Edit: Really missed this type of video, it's the kind tht put me on to an all natural routine!
My aunt used this all the time and she has hair past her butt. These old school things really do work!
This felt like an old Nap85 video! Major nostalgia from this video. Love it!
Always dropping great hair knowledge. I like the fact you have shown the good, bad, ugly and how to get back to the good~it's much more relatable and it shows us that natural hair is a process but we must be patient with our hair!
I had no idea that gelatin has hydrolized protein in it! Will definitely try this out. I love that I have most of these ingredients too! Thanks!
Yaay!! So happy to help Alina!! 💗💗
Alina Alive Gelatin IS hydrolyzed protein. Even better
I know I am tardy to the party, tried this today and GIRL... my hair was so soft after deep conditioning. My hair has never felt that way. I will be doing this once a month.

Great cheap alternative to Aphogee! Thanks for hooking us up as always 😉 I just saw your ad for Walmart, it's so cute 😊 Positive image of a brown family😀 👍
Lol @ dusty crusty hair - not even close. I hope you plan on creating on own hair care line someday. Thanks for sharing. Xoxo
😆😆 Haha, thanks girl! 💗💗💗
This aged so well
I love protein treatments and do them twice a month. Trying this, but adding more conditioner and gelatin so it will be thick enough for me to sit under my steamer with it! I also like to cold seal with avocado water I mix up.

Your hair grew so fast. I'm really jealous. I recently got heat damage so I've got to start al over
Hey Kik! Thanks but don't be jealous, I think it only SEEMED to grow back fast. I dyed it in 2014, and it's JUST now showing HEALTHY length in 2017, so that about 3 years! Normal growth, so hang in there! 💗💗💗

I swear, if she told us to scoop used cat litter, grind it to a powder, add 1 cup of Aloe Vera, 6 drops of lavender and co wash our hair with it---WE'D DO IT! 😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂 Lol! Girl, I HIGHLY doubt that!! 😂😂😂

HI Naptural85,

Whitney! Have you any idea how much I love you lol. Amazing video! No more buying EXPENSIVE Aphogee!
Can I add more conditioner to the mixture to make it less messy or will it be too much🧐🤔🤓
How did you stretch/style your hair after? It looks beautiful. Did you use heat?
How did you style it, Whitney? Curlformers?I love how stretched it looks.
I'm trying to figure out what editing trick you did to make those measuring cups look like they were lined up perfectly as soon as you put them down. I don't know why I find little editing tricks like that very cool.
Love this, thank you for Whitney!!❤️💞
Thanks for the tip! I'm getting some gelatin and trying this treatment next wash day! :-)
Trying this right now. Thanks!
quick question does this work on straight hair too? i got my hair permed recently and my hair is very damaged and breaking off and stretchy. will this work for my hair and my hair was naturally straight. thanks for the diy idea!
Hi! Can you tell me the style you had in your hair before the treatment? So cute!
jet eye mind trick, how in the hell did you hold all he measuring spoons in one hand and perfectly line them up by chucking them on the table?????
MrsToddSmith1, it's "Jedi mind trick"...
The magic of editing to make it look like 1 seamless shot. Whitney ain't new to this😎
Great Video! This might sound weird but I use melted peanut butter mixed with some conditioner and oil. Curl definition is amazing and it leaves my hair feeling strong.
(Make sure to rinse out with warm/hot water if you do it though.)
Your videos are always SO creative AND informative! YAAAS
XoXo! Thank you Bri!! 💗💗💗
Really nice and shiny. Lovely.
