    Thanks for putting this up Old Mate! 1 thing you could check is whether this plane has normal Fail-safe burnt in. The QIDI 550 which also uses the FX9630 protocol on a flight board that has the same Flight Modes as this (and a board that looks quite similar to the 1 in this) unusually DOES NOT have Motor Fail-safe when using the stock transmitter! We have added Fail-safe by using a satellite receiver (Futaba S-FHSS and Flysky A8S) and setting it in those protocols when setting up the model on our Multi Module Radios.
    The QIDI also seems to have some strange behaviour in the Vertical Mode. The servos don't seem to centre properly when you let go of the sticks - you have to reverse-control them back and hope you know when they're centred. Something to check on this when you hold it in your hand. Possibly the servos only centre when the plane has made a turn in the commanded direction. Haven't checked that. I seem to remember that some folks were complaining about the Volantex X-Pilot stabilizer on the 750mm V768-1 Mustang doing something similar on the Rudder.
    Also there has been some talk in the reviews that the 3D mode (usually just a Rate Mode/Wind Correction Only Mode) may have some extra 'Stabilization" remaining on it. To test (after binding, arming motor by throttle up/down and giving the motor a trial burst - some flight controllers require that before all features are fully invoked) hold the aileron Stick hard over 1 way and roll the plane that way. When you approach the Max allowed roll angle the control surface should drop back to dead level with the wing. Release the stick and the deflection should disappear when you roll the plane back level. You should get something like 70max roll angle and 40-45 pitch angle.
    Then try in 3D Mode. There should be no limits, no self-levelling and the servos should only give a momentary correcting kick in the reverse direction before dropping back when you pitch/roll/yaw the plane in uncommanded directions. They shouldn't add in any permanent offset to try and force the plane's attitude back to its previous state as a Hold Mode would do.

      Fail safe works. Turning off either the stock or Jumper transmitters results in motor shutdown in two seconds. Additionally, no matter what mode you were in, the plane will enter into 6G mode to attempt leveling of the plane.
      Advance the video to 27:41 to see a close in demonstration of vertical crane mode. In vertical mode, it doesn't really fly the same as a Mode 2 drone. Left stick right left movement normally controls yaw movement in a drone, while right stick right left movement controls roll. To match this, some other vertical flying planes automatically swap aileron and rudder control when entering vertical mode. This one does not. This might not bother most plane pilots, as the controls remain normal. But if you're a drone pilot, it can be confusing. It confused me. That's why I kept dropping it in the grass.
      In regards to centering in vertical mode, the plane tries to maintain the last vertical orientation when the sticks were released. If you yaw right or left, the ailerons will react to try to regain the original orientation.
      As for 3D mode, there is some stabilization to counter act wind gusts. There is no self-leveling. But if you let go of the sticks, it will try to maintain the last orientation of the plane when you let go of the sticks.

      Cool man I learned something new! both of my servos already have been replaced. with no servo protectors they go pretty quick. I have a dx8 and a bunch of satellites and also a RadioMaster boxer I’m still learning just having spent the time on it yes

    Thanks for the video. Did you ever determine what that strange plane was in the sky? I noticed after you said “what is that?” You flew your RC to the left and brought it back around in tye direction the strange plane was headed and poof! Gone! Just an observation and thanks for the review on the flybear I just purchased one.

      I think it was a P-8 Poseidon. I noticed one flying closer recently going into Erie International Airport. They may use Erie as a refueling stop.

      Actually, the stock controller is not too bad. However, I prefer the feel of the T-Lite Jumper. I just like a smaller/lighter controller.

    @quadcopter101 this little guy flies on 3s with no raise in temps on the motor but a light raise in temps on the esc, nothing to be concerned about. This is with the stock prop which from my tests has been the perfect prop for it. This is truly an amazing plane, it’s my go to plane at this moment in time. Try out a 3s you’ll be amazed not only at the crazy speed but the handling it has at those speeds, the 3s really compliments this plane and the design really takes this plane onto another level on 3s. That’s all I run on it now, unless my batteries are spent I’ll go to the 2s… cheers

    Hi Quadcopter 101, do you fly any eflite ultra micro extreme planes- off camera? They're a bit pricey, especially if you don't have a radio, but you can get a pretty cheap RTF type controller that works with the UMX radian, UMX night vapor, hobbyzone champ, and the sport cub ss.
    This is definitely and awesome lil plane!,
    Just saying companies like eflite Excel in their ultra micro planes. All umx weigh under 250 grams.
    They come as bnf, meaning you need a radio, battery and charger. You can get an eflite champ and sports cub, which come RTF. But the other UMX planes require a battery, radio and charger.
    They are the superior micro planes in terms of flight, and quality, except for the one con, they're all made of lightweight eps, which is somewhat durable in its own way, but over the foam does wear out.
    Sorry for the paragraph!

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, sorry. eflite has never shown interest in sponsoring me. And as you mentioned, they're a bit pricey for me to purchase on my own.

      This little plane is awesome 👍👍 I love the hover mode.

  • @theoztreecrasher2647
    @theoztreecrasher2647 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Lol! Your problem (as a normal drone flier) in adapting to the control of this in the "Crane/Hover Mode" with its normal 3D pattern plane stick controls is something that has prompted RadioLink to put out a v2.0 version of their excellent little Byme-A Stabs (as used on the A560) that now includes a choice of either method of control when in "Hover"!
    They are great (and affordable!) little units that can be "reprogrammed" via a Special Functions set-up on your Jumper T-lite v2 (and any other Multi Radio) to re-order the Modes into a more sensible progression of "Beginner" - "Acrobat/Horizon" - "Gyro/Rate" on one 3-position switch which can be over-ridden to "Manual" or either of the "Hover" Modes on other switches.
    Us Old Farts are certainly not competent 3d pattern fliers but having a "Whoa Neddy!" button when normal flight is getting out of hand is certainly a great boon! 😜😊

      I did too. I found that I had installed the control horns upside down onto the servos of both theelevator and rudder. That's the biggest con that I have with this airplane. It requires careful assembly and final adjustments. Also, the directions aren't too clear. Most new pilots will likely make mistakes during the assembly.
