YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS UP!!!
I like the idea Lumiose trainer Zac
Level 5 snivy: YES AND PUT ME IN THERE I AM NOT ONE OF THAT UGLY ASH BECAUSE HE ALREADY HAS ONE BUT..... I'LL GO TO HIM AND MAKE HIM TRADE HIS SNIVY WITH ME.
SO I CAN BEAT THAT WEAK PIKACHU THAT HE HAVE.😈
SLAYYYYYY👁️🫦👁️
Tobias, where do you keep getting all this stuff!?
Lake Acuity was a devastating loss, but it's probably the best WRITTEN loss Ash has ever suffered. Paul felt genuinely unstoppable, yet none of his wins ever came across as forced.
Fair on the written part but execution wise, it was crushing for ash
It was his fault for not strategies or came prepared for the battle. He use half of his fully evolved teams instead of rotate his current and past ones
Also Paul was the epitome of EV/IV Trainer in the anime.
@@d.n.tranger1457 Ash also evolved his Chimchar too late in the battle, because he thought, up until that point, Chimchar did not need evolution and Blaze Ability to beat Paul. This idea is obviously complete garbage because any fan could point out that Chimchar was becoming less of an ace and more of a cute mascot. 129 episodes as a Chimchar was too far.
Also, I should point out that the Lake Acuity battle took place after Ash's 7th Sinnoh Gym win which is insulting since we don't how Monferno could have faired in Gym battles.
It almost ended ash’s passion for Pokémon with getting friendship n paul absolutely counter that with his way
Black and White was really the lowest point for Ash and most of the fan base. The writers should have never tried going through with the soft reboot route. But thankfully that ended.
I blame the earthquake that caused them to 180 with the plot and story. I actually liked the beginning.
I dropped the anime after the Trip loss. I came back when X&Y started.
@@Neko312they should have given us their original plot points regardless of what happened
My favorite moment in Black and White was during the Elesa battle. Hear me out! After Snivy was defeated and he was struggling to pick a Pokemon to battle with, Pikachu was in the background and he was absolutely losing his shit! He could clearly tell that Ash was being a total dunderhead. Eventually, Pikachu finally had enough and gave Ash a much needed Thunderbolt. From that moment on, I feel like Ash was starting to get back on track with his battling skills. Aside from the awful loss to Cameron in the Unova League, all his battles were on the same level as some of his battles in the other series'.
Yeah I liked that even Pikachu was getting tired of Ash being dumb and called him out. That was actually a high point for Unova for me since it felt meta.
Battling Cameron is the worst lost ash ever had
Fact
Can't disagree with that
Agree, there was no excuse, he lost against a dumb trainer in a league battle.
And Tobias in terms of how ash lost
@@rolphmother9172 even unova ash didn't deserve this
I really don't understand why couldn't they have Ash win a League and then lose to the Elite Four? In Diamond and Pearl during the meeting with Lucian they explained that winning a League isn't everything - you then get a chance to battle the Elite Four and if you beat them all you're allowed to challenge the Champion. This opens so many possibilities - Ash can beat the League but immediately lose to the first Elite Four member, next time he can win League but lose against the third member, next time he can beat entire Elite Four but lose against the Champion. It would allow such a natural progression before the Journeys and World Coronation Series. Instead, they have Ash keep losing Leagues and then in Sun and Moon and Journeys he suddenly can battle on the same level with Elite Four members and Champions.
That's actually not a bad idea. The way I would handle it is that he loses the first 3 leagues, then he wins the Sinnoh League but loses to Arron. Then in Unova he wins and loses to the third E4 member he faces and then in Kalos he falls short to Diantha. It's a pretty smooth climb all the way to becoming champ in SM and becoming World Champ in JN.
The Elite 4 were incredibly underused in the anime. Like I'm pretty sure Sinnoh was the only time they were all utilized in at least one episode each.
This is what I expected for DP onwards
They already made Ash beat E4 level trainers in battle frontier, so Flint is probably only Sinnoh E4 that can beat Ash that time
Honestly that's what I thought was going to happen while watching Diamond and Pearl, as they kept introducing Elite Four members and Cynthia becoming a borderline regular character.
Pikachu: I fear no man, but that thing.....
"Level 5 Snivy in the room"
Pikachu: it scares me.
So we’re just gonna forget pikachu got hoed by zekrom?
@@thememenoob6426doesn't matter
@@thememenoob6426 Doesn't matter. A battle hardened Pikachu losing to a Snivy with 0 experience is idiotic.
@@tootzy-the-roll That Snivy wasn’t Level 5. It was at least Level 16, as it used Leaf Tornado in the battle. It, in fact, did have experience. It was still a forced loss, but not as bad as people think. In fact, the battle hardened Pikachu was extremely weakened as well.
@@NokoTheTaco okay. And that should lessen the gravity of Pikachu's embarrassing loss??
I can't believe that the staff wanted to make ash lose so bad that they made ACTION REPLAYS CANON.
Ash: So... how the hell did you get legendaries?
Tobias: It's called cheating through. You should try that one day 😎
@@cliffturbo2146Ash : Yeah sure, let me catch some since most of them are friends with me anyways.
Writers : hahahaha......we would rather give Goh a Suicuine but not you.
@urbo2146 Ash who's friends with every legendary even the god of anti matter. Tho honestly i still question why ash wasn't surprised to see latios. I mean sure you can make the argument that legenderies just respawn when dead but that means latias died at some point because of the journyes epilog. Plus I doubt he wouldn't remember the city where he got he's first kiss( still surprised there's more then one) . And yes it's possible the movies aren't canon but i think they stopped being canon 100% of the time in sinnoh with arceus and the jewel of life or the ones with shiny legendaries. Cause i know for a damn fact the two mewtwo movies and the 2000' one are canon.
@@cliffturbo2146 unfortunately, Ash has dark-types but not battle like he has dark-types. Nanu pointed that out XD.
For me at least, the most insulting lose Ash ever had was his battle against Cameron. He somehow lost to a trainer who was dumber than him, and brought 5 Pokemon in a 6v6 fight. And not only that, but Ash had an advantage of three Pokemon over Cameron's last Pokemon, a Riolu, that evolved into a Lucario.
The problem with Ash's mons used in the Cameron match is that most of the members were not fully evolved (Oshawott, Pignite, Boldore and Snivy) and Unfezant was too weak despite being fully evolved and had a type advantage against Riolu, compared to Cameron who used five fully evolved mons (Samurott, Hydreigon, Lucario, Swanna and Ferrothorn).
The anime has this habit of making Lucario seem unstoppable...
...yet they couldn't do this for the one Lucario that deserved it the most.
How do you take on several Champion-level Trainers even as a baby, and still lose to some dude's Dragapult after getting slapped around by a Mr. Rime...in your MEGA Form?
@@GhostGuy99 What do you mean by some dude? Leon was the strongest trainer in the Pokémon's world.
@@saitproject Fully evolved, yet only Hydreigon and plot armour Lucario were the only threat in that team.
@@tienmanhnguyen3422 Oh really? Gosh! I had no idea that Leon was the strongest Trainer in the world! This is all so new to me! It's almost like I watched 9/10s of the Journeys anime and somehow didn't know that Leon was the strongest Trainer in the world! It's almost like we didn't see Leon make other elite Trainers look like chumps!
And your point is? Does belonging to the strongest Trainer in the world make you a Legendary level Pokémon? So if your Sinnoh Champion waifu caught some random Rattata, it automatically can decimate Trainers?
EDIT: That's what I thought, smartass. Like I said, how do you take on Champion-level Trainers even as a baby, and still get slapped around by some dude's Mr. Rime and Dragapult whilst in your Mega Form?
Ash's first battle as a WORLD CHAMPION ending in a loss is so funny to me. Journeys had an uncanny ability to write some insanely dumb stuff
just because he is world champion does not mean all of his pokemon are champion level. Corphish would not have lasted 5 seconds in masters tournament since it could not defeat misty's politoed
"How can we take this really cool concept that people are dying to see...and execute it in the laziest and dumbest way possible?"
@@jetguy128Not to mention that he is unevolved (the writers still owe Ash a Crawdaunt).
@@saitproject with his current skills if he trains his reserves again they can all evolve, even scraggy
This was honestly just bad writing and insulting. Ash's first loss after the Alola League was handled WAY better than this
I honestly think Ash losing to Cameron is worse then his first battle against Trip. Sure losing to a newly acquired Snivy is insulting but the battle against Cameron was in a league and held way more weight.
Not to mention that he lost to TRIP of all people. Still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth that one.
You can also blame the writers for mishandling most of Ash's Unova team and thinking that cute, non fully evolved weak mons is what fans prefer over powerhouses.
It's BW Ash, shouldn't have expected too much
@@jetguy128 Basically this. Ash really had no business losing to a dumbass like Cameron, but BW Ash is written to be just that much of an idiot. Ash from any other season would've probably massacred Cameron, lmao
@jjtjp2469 Bw ash wasn’t great yeah but that was mostly during the first half of the series, he was somewhat back on track during the second half
I just know whenever Ash looks at his Snivy be has nightmares about Pikachu’s first Unova loss
Something that makes Ashs loss to Cameron even worse is that we do know what his sixth Pokémon was. It was a WATCHOG! Even Unfezant could have taken out a Watchog! Once Lucario was down, even if Cameron had his sixth Pokémon Pikachu could have easily won that battle!
That, and the fact ash went backwards in a league
I’m pissed off how Cameron has a hydregon and a ferrathorn two op Pokémon during that generation and yet Cameron is this much of an idiot. Especially when he let two of his Pokémon get easily ko due to him not knowing type match ups (ferrathorn vs pignite seriously)
@@Yoshixandir Cameron deserved to lose this for his complete idiocy
😂"Why is Torkoal here?!" Is so disrespectful and hilarious!!
Torkoal deserves disrespect. It's useless
An honorable mention, I know he won the overall gym battle, but his loss against Cress. He beat Chili (Pansear vs Tepig) and Cilan (Pansage vs Oshawott). But he lost to a Panpour when Ash used Pikachu, with a type advantage. Pikachu was also not nerfed by Zekrom at this point and still lost. I don't think Pikachu even landed one move, not even a quick attack.
That one was indeed way worse. To this day, I'm surprised people don't remember that over the Snivy loss.
I don't mind that too much because Cress obviously knew how to battle and was ready for someone to body him with an electric type. Hell, I'd say he's better at battling than Cilan. And it's not like all starter gym leaders we see in the anime are the same strength.
I think what they should've done with that episode is make Tepig lose to Chili's Pansear, have Pikachu then win against Panpour and then of course keep Oshawott's win against Pansage. The reason they annoyingly made pikachu lose was to add stakes to the final battle, but it was for sure a silly choice.
Chilli should have beaten ash and then Ash should have beaten cress so Pikachu could redeem himself for his disgraceful performance against trip
@@eljordinio7647Yeah I think people would have less of a problem with the Cress loss of it wasn't just of the heels of the Trip loss.
4:44 i guess that's why Leon destroyed the kalos representatives in Pokemon journeys SO BADLY that was the writers revenge against the xy fandom
The writers deserved what they got for making ash lose in Kalos
Alain and Diantha did not
@@eljordinio7647 so are you telling me the writers deserved to get harassed and get death threats because a fictional character lost a fictional league ok then
So we're just going to ignore Greninja return, Serena Return, Clemont and Bonnie returns?
@@eljordinio7647 Imagine justifying toxic behaviour over a cartoon (or anything for that matter)
@@ashhabimran239 they screwed Ash over when they had no right to, they deserve to suffer for that mistake. It's that simple
Ash had every right to win the Kalos League and all they did was rob him of it, even after making him so competent, serious, and taking him all the way to the finals with one of the best teams he ever built
Ash's first battle with Trip was embarrassing as hell, after doing a tie with a Latios on the Sinnoh League Semi finals to take an L for a LV 5 Boi
Trip then went home after losses from cilan,Bianca, elder n still couldn’t beat the experienced ash until some lame strategy in the unova league
Levels DON'T EXIST IN THE ANIME.
I think Ash vs Alain should be here but I'm glad a lot of people have realised that Alain kinda had that win in the bag (like, I see very few worlds where Ash Greninja beats 10 Megas in a row, with the last one being an elite 4 members). I do still think Charizard could've gotten more hits in especially with Greninja clobbering him with everything the frog has and after Pikachu softened him up a bit.
Then again, if Base Form Charizard could tank a Thunderbolt from Ash's Pikachu like it was nothing...we probably should've expected Alain to Plot Armor his way through to victory.
@@GhostGuy99Pikachu was exhausted though in all fairness.
Two things I will say. The only issue I have with that loss is it kinda makes Alola's win not feel earned. Sun and Moon had no real gym challenges in it, and they just make this big tournament out of the blue.
Second, Ash should've battled Alain in the Masters 8, not Steven.
@@GhostGuy99 he didn't exactly tank thunderbolt like nothing. That move brought him to his knees remember
@@JennyBlaze253 you do know that's how the league works in the games doesn't it? There's no league in place til U do your island challenge, then U face the newly founded league and if U win, YOU become champion of the whole region
Ash lost to paul was his fault for not preparing well before the battle. He uses the same team which paul predicted, if he had strategies and rotate his squad, he might not have suffer such a terrible beatdown
He’s aces snorlax,séptile,charizard would’ve kicked major ass
Here’s a twist, he was going to train until Team Rocket got involved!
And yet said team beat Paul in the league
@@eljordinio7647 Let's be honest though, Paul's team in the League wasn't anywhere near his strongest. Drapion and Electivire carried literally all the weight. Meanwhile the rest of Paul's team were little more than pawns meant to draw out more of Ash's team.
@@ResurgentRaven even then, Paul can't only rely on two Pokemon to win a battle
the thumbnail is perfect representation of the list. I imagine Tobias would be on the list but I wish it wasn't, because Ash did better against him than anyone else in that league. at his current best he took out two legendaries, that is not an ordinary feat in that anime.
Yeah buy trips and snivys faces are kinda creepy
It’s true taking down two legendaries isn’t a small feat if that battle is on the list it would be because ash lost 4-0.
He still got humiliated regardless. 2 knockouts out of 6 is nothing to praise no matter what
Beating two legendaries is praiseworthy no matter what I disagree.
😂 man I remember back during my early high school years, I was so fucking hyped to get home and finish the last part to Ash vs Paul. The cliff hanger they left off when he’s gonna be facing Tobias still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth 😕. Even worse bc after Tobias beats Ash, he then goes on to destroy the last trainer with JUST his Darkrai, meaning Ash could’ve definitely won the league!
Ash Ketchum's first and last league conference losses had involvement from a villainous team....
1. Ash's pokémon being tired out after a battle with Team Rocket during his battle with Ritchie at the Indigo League.
2. Ash loosing the Kalos League due to his opponent Alain being pressured by Lysandre, the boss of Team Flare to win for Marian and Chespie's sake.
Team flare barely had anything to do with the Kalos League directly
@@MCAnimationofficial he manipulated Alain into collecting mega evolution energy so that he could use it to control Zygarde and start destroying Lumiose city
Man these thumbnails just keep getting better and better

@@Zactoshialola ash ketchum day is on my birthday!
Grottle eating a energy ball and not using a grass move was the most criminal battle iv ever seen
Yeah, imagine how stronger an energy ball would be. It would be like Overgrow kicked in
I honestly think the Paul lost was Ash's BEST lost. Paul was a great trainer so it was understandable that Ash lost. Plus his team came out of it stronger and more determined, leading to them defeating Paul in the sinnoh league.
But he was demolished so it's actually his worst loss. His biggest defeat (not counting Tobias lol).
Yeah but the way it was executed was amazing. I mean look at Paul's team in that battle and look at Ash's sinnoh team in that battle. They haven't reached their peak yet.
@@Geezer_Weezer Yeah writting was good but it still was a big loss.
@@soumyadeepmukherjeepretty much yes
True. The Lake Acuity battle has multiple messages for Ash:
"Now do you understand why relying exclusively on faith makes you impulsive and is not a genuine strategy?!"
"Fully evolve Ash's Chimchar to Infernape and have him control Blaze Ability or DON'T even bother making an episode where Ash beats Paul if you're still insisting that Chimchar does not need Blaze ability and full evolution."
I think after the Snivy loss, they tried to make Pikachu's losses a lot more believable. Especially in the case of the Leagues I think the only time Pikachu hasn't taken out 2 Pokemon before going down in a League was against Kukui and that's the battle where beat *Tapu Koko.*
Not really. People just don’t like their power fantasy getting dispelled
4:22 You can't forget that Pikachu also landed a Quick Attack and a *super effective* Thunderbolt on Charizard before being defeated
Meanwhile Greninja had just destroyed Bisharp without taking any damage
Yeah, except Charizard took that Thunderbolt and basically said "Yeah, no, I'm not taking that damage".
Can't tell if the writers really didn't want Ash to win or they just really didn't want Charizard specifically to lose.
@@GhostGuy99 I'd say both
About Ash versus Tobias:
1) Ash's team selection to face Tobias makes perfect sense; all of the Pokémon he chose had either fought Legendaries before or had moves perfect to counter Darkrai. His only mistake was not calling on Charizard, but that might be excused by the distance between Sinnoh and the Charicific Valley.
2) It's not mentioned in the episode, but it's likely that the reason Ash didn't use Infernape against Tobias (despite it being his Sinnoh powerhouse and having a type advantage against Darkrai) is that Infernape was still too injured from Ash's battle with Paul, similar to what happened wit Harrison's Blaziken back in Johto.
He still could have gotten Snorlax in
Charvaley isn't that far from Oak lab and from there he could be transferred being inside a Pokeball in an instant.
You're right about infernape.
Honestly, if Tobias does all have legendaries, even Ash's world champion team would stand no chance.
Wouldn't be surprised if that is all Tobias had, the cheating scum
Can Leon defeat him
Nah man, he has a couple of bidoofs and pidgeys.
That's the problem actually because the character had no development at all, just conjured out of thin air to stop Ash from winning the league, and vanished into thin air once again.
Alain's win, though controversial, is still justifiable.
@@MCAnimationofficial nah the anime was tryna trick us into thinking Cynthia beat him n I can see Tobias 1 shoting ash greninja

@@saitproject The writers really had it out for Unfezant if she couldn't even take down a Riolu that barely had to put in effort to beat her. It's like they wanted her to be hated so much.
And Snivy? Bro, she belonged to a previous Trainer and she knows Attract and Leaf Storm. What was stopping her from evolving? And don't give me that excuse of "They wanted the Starters to stay unevolved for marketing" when Tepig evolved once and then literally never again.
Tobias is the average legendary spammer on showdown
We don’t talk about the Darkrai incident

Ash vs. Brawly
Ash vs. Drake
Ash vs. Iris (Nimbasa Town)
Ash vs Wulfric. We had a whole episode of Ash recovering from that loss and reconnecting with Greninja to take their bond to the next level for the rematch.
I remember how badly he took the loss from Brawly. Even telling the others to shut up for his mistakes.
Vs. Cress is worse than any of the losses listed in the video tenfold. Except maybe against Cameron.
My Dishonorable Mentions:
Ash vs. Sabrina
Ash vs. Blaine
Ash vs. Gary (after the Orange League)
Ash Vs. Misty (Whirl Cup)
Ash vs. Flint
Ash vs. Wulfric (First battle)
I never liked the battle of Ash vs Cameran. It was probably the worst 6v6 battle Ash ever had. Other than Hydreigon and Lucario the rest of Cameran Pokemon were easy to beat. I agree with you Zac on why give plot armor to Cameron instead of Ash in that battle. Cameron should have never won that battle in the first place. If anything I preferred if Ash lost to Virgil instead of Cameron. Another thing, the writers should have made some of Ash's Pokemon evolve and not stay in their baby forms. He should have at least had a Serperior, Gigalith, Seismitoad, Scrafty, and maybe a Dewott. Ash's Unova team is Johto all over again with less evolution and more baby forms. I know their main Audience is for kids but the Pokemon Franchise TV series is more for all ages at this point.
The writers took the "This Pokemon does not need to fully evolve to get strong" logic into the extreme, put a heavy emphasis on comedy and cuteness as well as having some mons being inferior copies of predecessors when assembling Ash's Unova team. All of which caused Ash to regress from top 4 in Sinnoh to top 8 in Unova!
Since Ash is now a World Champion, the writers now have to give Ash's non fully evolved Unova mon reserves full evolution: Samurott, Emboar, Serperior, Scrafty, Gigalith and Seismitoad.
At least Ash didnt get 6-0 by trainers who use competitive pokemon strategies
4:49 For reference, the Alain loss was so bad the following happened:
1: The animators were harassed by fans.
2: They made an entire series to legitimize Alain's Charizard being a badass
3: They straight up retconned Ash-Greninja out of the series.
10:27 Funny how Ash forgetting how to actually battle strategically seems to be a running theme in these terrible loses.
The staff deserved it for this level of idiocy
Call me bitter if you want, but it's 2023 and I still haven't watched the Team Flare Arc of the XYZ series. After Ash's loss, I couldn't have cared less about what happened in that particular series after that. Yes, I did see the viral clips of all the gym leaders, Ash & Co, Team Rocket, etc. team up against the 'evil Zygarde' along with the scene of Serena kissing Ash. However, I still haven't watched anything else from that series after the loss...
I don't blame you. And truthfully, you're not missing much.
After Ash, his friends, his rivals, the Gym Leaders, and even Diantha and Steven save Kalos, things kinda go downhill from there because the writers just completely dropped the ball after seemingly having a clear end goal for XY.
Clemont rebuilds a fully functional Clembot after they just killed him off, Serena decides to be a coordinator in Hoenn and becomes another carbon copy of May when she finally returns in Journeys, and Greninja gets released to clean up the remaining vines because apparently two Zygarde can't destroy the vines that they themselves created and even destroyed a few episodes prior. Adding to it, Greninja eventually does come back...but is still cleaning up Zygarde's mess and the Ash-Greninja form was completely retconned and replaced with generic Aura.
So yeah. XY is a fantastic series, but the ending sucks.
I didn't give a crud about Ash and friends saving the region because he's saved THE WORLD A NUMBER OF TIMES! Let's be real; after each world saving event, it was like none of that ever happened! He'd then go on and LOSE in another league competition smh it also didn't sit right with me that Alain was unknowingly a huge reason for the crisis to begin with because his Mega Ring would send energy to Lysandre's device leading to it in the first place! @@GhostGuy99
@@GhostGuy99I would say the aftermath sucks more like. Ending was good, would be great if they continued the development, growth, maturity Ash had in Kalos.
Instead they are being same coward again, and thus same circle continued. Really funny that he was in Hoenn and catching up with Serena didn’t even occurred to his mind for once.
@@mdrasedulhoque992 Just goes to show that the Pokémon Company just refuses to let even a majority of the fanbase happy...
I seriously wanna know what was going through their heads when they backpedaled on making Ash so Shonen, forced him to lose to Alain for the third time in a row and in the Kalos League finals, retconned Ash-Greninja, made Serena a carbon copy of May, and made Alain and Diantha lose to Leon in a way that perfectly sums up why I don't join tournaments.
You can't do any of that by accident, and remembering that XY and Journeys were written by two different groups doesn't justify it.
@@GhostGuy99 Ohh they do make a majority of fanbase happy. You will frequently find fellas who will say SM,journeys are better than XY series and stuffs like that. The plan is to capture new audience, whilst holding onto the cringe shippers, nostalgia biased creeps. Letting the series grow with it's audience was never on their priority.
Forget everything, how in the world Ash still uses a battleworn Pikachu against a tank like Mega Charzard???That too the most matured version of Ash!!! even a 6 year old can see through that.
And I wouldn’t even start with Serena. Like yeah, our lad now uses Cellphone, Chloe's cellphone literally rings around Serena and still writer wanted us to believe She wouldn’t have a proper reunion with Ash!!!!
That's not justification, that's writers being lazy and coward all over again.
For me, Ash's loss to Bea is bad not because of the loss itself, but because of how depressed he became afterward. It just didn't feel like he was in character. I mean, I know he's gotten into slumps over losses before, but he just met this girl!
Also, you took the words out of my mouth when it came to Cameron vs Ash, but I would've put it as number 1. Losing to a Snivy without any proper training was bad, but at least there's an actual story reason for it. Ritchie was bad too, but you can at least blame part of it on Team Rocket, and Ash needed a reality check anyway. But there is no way in the Distortion World that Ash should lose to this punk.
He's gotten depressed after humiliating losses before, so it's not that out of character for him
Something tells me this is gonna be a far greater pain than Nagato.
U mean danganronpa💀
@@kaydenahmed no, I mean Nagato.
I will say this, Tobias VS Ash was an amazing battle. Sure the writers should have mentioned him much much earlier (at least a mention about a powerful trainer who is anihilating every gym with a Darkrai, SOMETHING) but this battle showed how strong Ash really is, he was the only trainer in the whole series (as much as we know) who didn’t defeated just his Darkrai but also a freakin Latios, and he didn’t even have his strongest team in this battle. I hate that they didn’t bring Tobias back after the Sinnoh series, he should defenetly be in the masters 8 instead of Alain tbh, that would be cool and we could get some new info on him. Still better than both Cameron and Trip battles by a mile.
Rarely anything amazing about it besides Sceptile and Pikachu's moments
He really shouldn't. By the point BW started, Cynthia being still the Sinnoh champion taught us action replay can only carry you so much
I like how years later we're still choosing to ignore the fact that Pikachu was fighting Trip's Snivy with a handicap.
If you watched the BW anime, you'd remember that Zekrom screws Pikachu over by disabling its electric moves. Pikachu was fighting at about 50%, so I can be a bit more forgiving here. It's just wild to me that so many people "forget" what happened just before the 1st battle with Trip.

@@somechupacabrawithinternet8866 Levels aren't canon to the anime though.
I mean iron tail tied w latios n right after a snivy slams him even with its electricity gone
Honestly if I ever do a rewrite of the anime, I would build up AJ as Ash's main rival along with Gary. AJ had so much potential and his Sandshrew was the perfect rival for rookie Ash and Pikachu. He could have even returned to mentor Paul since he had somewhat of a same training
HELL. Have Ritchie be the real red of the anime and have him have the Charmander from Oak's lab. It would atleast make sense but Kanto is so... weird
Yup, we never even found out who were the other two trainers that left Pallet Town from that faithful day. Other than that they chose Bulbasaur and Charmander as their starters.
@@glumanterialso they did not succeed as trainers
The Cameron battle is Ash's greatest embarrassment
After Elesa, Trip and Cress
Bro I will never understand how the writers were like “Hey, let’s make a team of legendaries to make Ash lose” like bro ☠️. I understand he needed to lose I GUESS but like c’mon. A team of legendaries is unnecessary. Could’ve set up a stronger rival with NORMAL POKÉMON but nah apparently for Ash to lose he had to battle Legendaries 😭😭😭
Pack it up boys, thumbnails have peaked
for the reason ash brought torkoal, it's due to him knowing how much potential torkoal has. it nearly won against brandon's registeel - and we know brandon is much stronger than tobias due to being a frontier brain / pyramid king. torkoal doesn't have the best w/l ratio, but it's still plenty strong. as for gible? idk. maybe he just wanted to rely on draco meteor or smth.
For gible it was luck but Brandon being stronger than Tobias I wanna say that’s still in debate
Torkoal sadly couldn't live up to it. Ash honestly needed to dump this weakling
To this day, I still hate Trip to this day due to that loss of him beating Ash with a Snivy. And his character never appealed to me. But that battle does sting after 13 years later 💔
But great video Zac and Raf ❤
Ash vs Ritchie is Ash forgetting he had a 6th Pokémon like Cameron
1. Squirtle is asleep
2. Pikachu lost to Sparky
3. Pidgeotto tired from Team Rocket
4. Bulbasaur weak to fire attacks of Zippo
5. Charizard is disobedient
6. Where was Muk from the last battle against Jeannette or Kingler even
Except Cameron won. Ash didn't
The big difference between Trip and Paul is that Paul knows what he is doing, while Trip only thinks he knows what he is doing.
Both receive the same development in the series (Won several wins against Ash, got decimated by the area's champion, etc...), but Paul has better growth as a character.
Paul wasn't a beginner level trainer,so Ash didn't have to regress both as a character and a trainer to force a rivalry. That's the big difference.
Paul had a compelling storyline, plot that explained why he is the way he is,has a strict ideology and a well developed old school rival.
Trip is so forced even writers gave up on him and didn't allow him to participate in the Unova league main event.
Yo, that random ryhorn hiker was his worst lost😂
Ash's worst Losses list spot on with every battle and top 5 about right to me.
Dude, they were in the Fighting Dojo and they were only allowed to use fighting type Pokemon, of course he used Riolu and Galarian Farfetch'd.
Who said that was a hard and fast rule?
so same old ting
anime writers are dumb
I'm surprised you didn't mention his first battle with Hau. I mean, the guy literally lost because he dropped his Z-Crystal. It wasn't just dumb, but also pathetic
That could be in one of the funniest battles although it shouldn’t be
Note: in kanto they disqualified ash because his charizard doesn't want to battle and laying in the ground so they give win to Richie.
And in alola when battling with hau ash rowlet fell asleep they don't disqualified the match instead they restart it.
Look up Pokémon WTF moments for more info on that episode
I can't take the thumbnail so seriously lmao 😂.
Can't wait to see this once it premieres
Well done as always Zac with the videos.
I think we all can see the differences between an acceptable loss and a bad loss. Ash vs Sawyer, Ash vs Paul, and Ash vs Alain in my opinion are acceptable losses. They show that Ash's opponents constantly learn from encounters with Ash and they won't give him an easy time. They know his Pokémon, their moves, and his strategies.
I know some people consider Ash vs Alain bad, but when you look at it, Alain was a much more experienced trainer. His Charizard has a lot more battle experience, it has battled several mega-evolved Pokémon , and fought with many legendary Pokémon. Truthfully, I was disappointed that Ash lost to Alain, but it was not the end all, be all. It just shows that Ash has to push himself even harder to become stronger.
Ash vs Action Replay Man, Ash vs Cameron, and Ash vs Trip I consider bad losses. Action Replay Man uses legendaries to stop Ash from winning the Sinnoh League, Cameron was an idiot for handicapping himself and yet still won, and Trip... I just don't like him. Given that Trip has some good strategies and I personally like Serperior, making him win against Ash's Pikachu in their first battle was dumb.
PS: Looking forward to part 12 of your Sword and Shield anime series
Experienced or not, they already fought three times before and Ash never won. This was the perfect time for ash to settle the score with Alain like he did with Sawyer
@@eljordinio7647Sawyer only won once against Ash that too at his worst stage. That wasn’t settling score by any means.
@@mdrasedulhoque992 it still led to Ash getting the last win amongst the two of them and ending their rivalry
Which we could have also gotten with Alain if they weren't so keen on making ash a failure
Yeah of course Alain is soooo powerful that his Mega Charizard X can't be able to tank one single dragon pulse from a Base Charizard, vErY pOwErfUlL!
Ash and Alain should have at least had a rematch battle where ash won
In XYZ ash should have won the lumiose city conference, but should be defeated by one of the elite fours, then he should win the alola league
Nothing, and I mean nothing, will infuriate me more than Ash losing to Cameron in Unova.
These terrible Ash Ketchum Ls make me appreciate the Ws he gets a lot more
1 thing about Greninja vs Charizard. Unlike against Lucario, there were instances where Greninja went head first with Charizard & got overpowered 2 times. When it went head first the first time, Ash dodged the flame thrower & countered. Ash could’ve don’t that every time but didn’t. Ash relied on Greninjas strength to overpower Ash.
Honestly ash losing to a surskit is worst than half of these battles here
In an alternate universe of Zekrom never stole Pikachu’s power, so could Pikachu defeat Snivy perfectly.
Yeah because it didn't know other moves than Electric types lool.
And Ash didn't act like a complete stupid.
Instead of using a literal dragon bro sent in a baby
Ash didn't lose to Richie because he was overconfident or arrogant. He lost because of F$@%ing Team Rocket not leaving him alone. so it's really Team Rocket's Fault.
And Charizard's.
@glumanteri professor oak also blamed ash for it
Fans:LISTEN U WEREN'T PART OF OUR JOURNEY U BARELY KNOW WHAT HAPPENED
@@HAMMOS75 He did have a point there.
The return of the Papi Bond Phenomenon ❤️💙
I really hope the writers have Ash rematch all the opponents who defeated him in the leagues in the next Pokemon World Championship. And win.
They were jus there to stop him
Uhhh, yeah? That's exactly the point of battling Misty: nostalgia. It parallels the Totodile episode but this time, she won using the same Pokemon she used (and lost) and caught Clauncher. Its a warm and fun episode and I honestly appreciate it. Love the list, tho 💕
Yeah, and it may also play into nostalgia for The Perfect Match for Ash’s choice in Pokemon.
It doesn't excuse any of this
Ash could have won and still given Misty the clauncher anyway
It bugged me that we never saw Tobias again. There's still so much we know about him & we don't know what his other 4 Pokemon are.
Lad was conjured out of thin air to stop Ash from winning the league and then vanished into thin Air again. Nothing to learn about a character who is an out and out plot armour.
Is not plot armor, it's a Deus Ex Machina.
I'm willing to bet the guy had a full team of legendaries.
Yeah the ash vs Alain was really bad and annoying
This thumbnail looks fantastic
Hey Zac! I have a request. Could you please update the Ash Ketchum Pokemon reviewed video. You haven't covered his Alola and Journeys mons. Even the Top and Bottom 5 would've changed in your book.
I always figured Tyson’s Sceptile and Morrison’s Swampert were they’re starters
We can also say thanks to black and white to give plot armor to every trainer Trips lost to
Man watching these series where Ash has some worst lost it makes me dont want to watch it again, for real, it really hurt and disrespectful to see that happened. Especially defeated by Tobias, Cameron and Trip is just... UGH!
Why these writers done this..
Anyway, glad you did shared this video with Raf
I mean, I’ll give the writers a bit of wiggle room, Corphish hasn’t battled since Anabel!
So it’s possible that he was out of shape, and at the very least, unlike what this one person things, it wasn’t a Pokémon that got him a champion win!
4:10 even the intro was hype hinting at him winning
The fight with the first gym leader in Unova? The water one
I don’t care what reasons everyone has for praising Ash vs Ritchie nowadays, in my opinion it’s even more obnoxious than his loss against Cameron.
Why couldn't they just let him take his L in a more graceful way
I love the Tokyo Ghoul inspired thumbnail.
the thing you gotta realize about number 10 is that Ash wasn't fighting with his best team. If he'd battled Misty with his Journeys team, he would have wiped the floor with her.
And it was one on one fully evolved mon versus non evolved mon without type advantage.
If ppl are mad at the Ash Alain fight then they completely missed Ash's snowbelle Arc. So Ash says "If I lose what will people think of me!?" His fear in this series was that losing will have ppl lose faith in him. So Ash loss to Alain but this time his face is held high cause his friends still give him props for a good battle. The point was "will Ash be able to handle losing" Alain won but he was alone afterwards. Too bad the fans didn't see the point.
That's not excusing this. They hyped up Ash to win, they should have LET him win. It's that simple
@@eljordinio7647 example of what I was talking about.
@@TyroneTG3 XY was building up toward ash winning the league for a change and what do they do? Contradict themselves and screw Ash over for no good reason. We've seen him handle losing in the last few leagues so this arc didn't even offer anything new
Saying people missed the point is literally the most overused excuse there is. A point doesn't always just excuse controversial actions
@@eljordinio7647 they addressed it in The snowbelle Arc it's not that big of a deal. Also 2nd place is nothing to snuff at. It's just crying at this point.
@@TyroneTG3second place may be a good achievement but this was his sixth consecutive league loss and after all the hype they gave towards Ash potentially winning, there was no excuse for this BS. The backlash for this loss was larger than any other league loss to date and for good reason. Second best doesn't cut it
Why do I think that this is the next part of sword and shield series where he took an embarassing loss because he is too confident
Technically both Morrison and Tyson were last minute characters. Morrison was basically the Dragon Ball Z version of Goku since he’s voiced the same actor, Sean Schemmel.
The writers screwed us out of the Ash vs. Virgil battle we all wanted by letting that little bastard Cameron win
Ash should've had a rematch with Flint in the sinnoh League semi-finals instead of Mr. Action replay.
Hmm, no Alola battles on here, clearly means it's the best series
Ash was also just in his bag in Alola. He did not do much losing there.
Alola didn't have a lot of controversial losses
On the bright side of Ash losing the Kalos league, he didn’t go home with that ugly looking trophy (I’m sorry).
He got jobbed the hardest with Lucas like they created a character with two legendaries.
When the Pikachu that just beat a Latios looses to a Snivy and Panpour 😑
The disrespect was real
😹😹😹 water types are weaker than electric types
Correction: clauncher evolves into clawitzer, who is objectively the 5th best pokemon of all time.
So it's very understandable ash wanted to catch it
5th with or without legendarys cause there's no way it can beat stuff like reyquaza or necrozma and solgaleo or lunala or the lati twins etc. Heck Even with non legendarys there's a lota stuff it ain't gonna take on well like any pseudo or I don't know the starters or whatnot.

I am really hoping ash vs brawly (their 1st fight) is on here though i doubt it
In fact none of ash pokemon even unfeazent and palpitoad deserve to loose against level 5 snivy unless it is a training arc for them
The Misty loss in JN was perfectly fine and complaining about that is idiotic. I'm not even a Misty fan and like Corphish and thought it was fine
Exactly Ash was using a Pokémon he hasn’t used in a long time and he clearly wasn’t taking the battle seriously. It was just a fun battle that wasn’t meant to be taken seriously.
I’m confused. Are these losses that are considered to be dumb or losses where Ash gets humiliated. Cause I don’t think Ash vs Paul First Full Battle should be on the same list as Ash losing to trainers he should’ve beaten.
In Ash vs Paul, Ash had came up with tactics to deal with Paul’s ruthless battle style. But when Paul came up with ways to deal with that and completely changed his battle style, Ash was thrown off and Paul pressuring Ash so much made him make many costly mistakes. Paul destroyed Ash’s confidence which was important to develop Ash as well as show the audience how powerful Paul is.
I don’t feel like a meaningfully battle like that deserves to be on a list with Ash losing to weaklings.
I think it has to do with the fact that, even though it was well-written, Paul CRUSHED Ash at Lake Acuity.
The fact that Cameron only had 5 Pokemon with him should have disqualified him from the battle.
The guy who defeated Ash in Hoenn, Tyson, if he used his Metagross as his last Pokémon against Pikachu then it probably might be bit more understandable on why Pikachu lost that time
Tyson. Harrison is the one who beat Ash in the region where Cameron thought the Unova league was in.
@@northstarpokeshipper2148i wish we got to see him actually in the jhoto region n ash lost against vergile
It's Tyson for god sake
1:13 Pikachu's face LOL
Not that some of these losses weren't bad, bit I feel like y'all were too harsh on Ash and why he lost in some of these. Kanto League was his FIRST league. Clearly has a lot to learn. Vs Paul, I think he battled well, but was just outclassed. For him, for Chimchar, this battle was more of a checkpoint of how much work they both had to do. Even vs Tobias, I would say he had a team to combat him. He led with Sleep Talk Heracross lol If that's not a scouted lead, idk what it.
But Trip loss is spot on. Tf qas Ash on? Just quick attack LOL
