I downloaded June's Journey over a month ago thanks to your recommendation! I thought I was just going to be searching for items, but decorating my island has easily become my main focus lol, good times
The fact that you weren't a theater kid is absolutely wild to me. You have such theater kid energy (I say this with the highest regard and as a theater kid)
theater kid energy is really just confidence and an outgoing spirit, someone who really isnt afraid to be themself, it isnt a insult i was never one but i always was jealous of how comfortable they were just being them, no matter how weird they seemed lol
Hey Rachel my wife and I got to meet you at Megacon. I gotta say I was very nervous and I'm sorry if we were akward but you were super awesome and thank nick for letting me take a picture with him he was a good sport. My wife lives in the floor troll shirt she got btw. Thank you for you videos they are always amazing and we look forward to the next ones.
Right? She was in the hardware store parking lot and I was like, Rachel if you don't buy a pole I'm going to buy one for you. And then she did. Such a Big Girl Now!
Hey Rachel, lovely set and beautiful dress! As a seasoned cardboard set creator, couple of tips: - double layer your cardboard in 2 directions to overcome the bending and add rigidity. - get some brown paper tape - super cheap, paintable over and recyclable so you don’t have to remove all the tape to throw out. - soggy tissue paper or loo roll & pva mush is excellent for adding recyclable texture. Xx
Confession time- I love putting your videos in the background as I craft. Makes me feel like I have a crafting buddy especially when a finish date looms over head.
My husband from behind me while I avidly watch Rachel paint paper white - "Why didn't she just get white paper?" Me - "You shut yer pie hole, this woman is a genius!"
Rachel's efforts to do things as sustainably as possible with this project after the feedback about Temu on the last video feels like a rare example of a creator listening to constructive criticism and showing effort to do better through their actions. Not surprising considering the integrity I'm used to seeing on this channel, but I still love to see it 💖
The problem is recycling is a lie the government spread to justify mass corporations producing so much waste. Almost nothing put into recycling bins actually gets recycled. But Rachel did great by reusing cardboard, paint, paper, and fabric she already had!
The blankets didn’t look like real snow. But I think it’s better: it looks like a theater set. And it’s clearly snow. So it definitely worked! Also the dress is gorgeous
if i had gone to a school that had a theatre club i totally would have been a theatre kid instead i went a Christian privet school and got religious trama
She is absolutely a theatre kid and it’s never too late to become one!Community theatre is a great way to build friendships, share your talents on stage and off, and create art together! I love it so much!
Brown packing paper-taped into loooong rectangles, crumpled, and twisted-makes _excellent_ vines. Y’know, in case you decide to do a _Jungle Book_ -themed costume or dress.
As a former theater kid, I will claim you as one of us! But one thing I learned in painting sets, they do have the flats on the ground when you paint them, but to save your back and the scene from getting walked on, you tape your paint brushes to a yard stick and paint from there. It does take some practice to get used to it, but it will make a huge difference in ease and comfort.
You've just inspired my newest DnD character. Is it a beautiful ice queen? Nope. It's an elderly swamp witch named Mother Frick. Thank you ever so much my dear for blessing my with my latest project. Please excuse me while I retreat into my character-creation lair as I convene with dark forces of min-maxing.
"it's alright" but she painted a floor scene completely off the cuff and super well?? She's so talented and is such a a huge inspiration to me, I wanna be like her when I grow up 😭🖤
Girl you have no idea what your content does for us! I have had severe depression and anxiety and I get lost in my own head and who I “should” be way too often and your videos always bring me to a happy place!!
i continue to be in awe and amazement at how you manage to paint things and they suddenly just look so real??? and so good ??? especially with just cardboard and recycled things
As an employee of The Trevor Project, THANK YOU! I love your videos as a source of peace and relaxation, and seeing this callout tonight just made my week.
Thank you so much for your wonderful work! You and your coworkers/volunteers have helped save mine and so many other young lives. Your work is important and inspiring beyond words
im actually amazed at how those birch trees turned out. they look so pretty the way they're layered around and remind me of elementary school plays lol
I find it so relaxing to settle in for a Rachel Maksy video, and I always love seeing little hints of how geographically close we are; I am absolutely stealing that dunkin-in-a-mug trick the next time I grab an iced coffee, LOL Try the iced coffee black with 1 less caramel than the size recommendation; seriously heaven in a cup
Anyone else's soul leave their body when seeing Rachel cut the cardboard on those wood floors? Girl, even another layer of cardboard is not enough, you need a cutting mat!
Oh Rachel you absolutely kill me! Especially your outtakes. The amount of laughs you’ve given me over the years is commendable. Your such an incredible creative and joyous human being. Thank you.
The look on your face when the cardboard tree first stood upright was precious. I was impressed at the actual simplicity with which that happened. I would so over complicate it that I wouldn’t even try. Good for you. 😊 That dress is gorgeous and I love that you can wear it with or without the overlay and it’s just beautiful and the color is perfect on you
I am LIVING for this video 👏✨ The energy, the I Spy kid in me getting excited for June’s Journey, the little skeleton socks, the Alanis joke, the cardboard-build serotonin boost, a charitable donation, Frodo sass, an incredible dress, it’s all IMMACULATE 🤌 Thank you Rachel for always providing soul-nourishing content!! 💛

Thank you for your donation to the Trevor Project. As a.Member of the letter community, I see the need for the project’s goals. ❤❤❤❤ Your videos are so great! they also keep me company whether in the dark times or the creative times!
As someone who works at the paint counter at my local Lowes - Agreeable Gray and Aesthetic White are colors that I make quite frequently. My opinion on both are neutral, they both have their place, and picking colors for your house is entirely subjective and depends greatly on the type of lighting each room gets.
I have been following for like 7 years and seeing you grow is amazing you are deserving of all the love and followers. You are such a hard worker and YOU and your content brings joy. Never change you and always do what you love.
Birch trees are my FAVORITE. Their branches sway and whoosh like a willow, they have the white bark and black knots like big old aspens, but are smol enuf for almost any yard, and they have the most fun fidgety seeds. The tree equivalent of a dandelion. So fun.
As the mother of 4 theater kids, I am STUNNED you werent one!! I also wonder if you could get in touch with a group now and donate the pieces you make but want to hand over to somewhere they will be loved? You do such amazing things!! ❤
Love the Narnia vibes! I always love when Narnia gets some appreciation. Those movies have no business looking as good as they do and so many gorgeous costumes!
Making it from zero is stupendous..what determination..building the layers to create this set became a dream come true..the costume was beautiful..the fit perfect..and your hair beyond amazing..thankyou ....definitely pushing the boundaries with this one.. ❄️
If you ever decide you want to do something like this again and want to add texture while keeping it paper and cardboard, paper mache is great for that! Either just working with strips of paper or blending the paper up to make some paper clay can get you some pretty cool results!
Check out Jonni @ Ultimate Paper mache - here on TH-cam & a website. All KINDS of mache & mixes of crazy stuff. She's like a hip, artsy Grandma. I think her & Rachel would "vibe" !
How gorgeous! I came here from Freida and you and the dress and the cross-creative inspiration is truly off the scale. So glad to see it on you and in motion!
The last show I worked sets on just last month was literally built from mostly cardboard. Cardboard trees, cardboard logs, cardboard leaves. Some wooden under-structure, but the form and surface was ALL cardboard. It can be a very versatile material! Your backdrop was beautifully painted- of course it was; we know your mural skills! And the trees were beautiful. A magical setting for your dress-modeling; everything came together beautifully!
The roller pole is life changing. Next time you paint a wall (like the one color painting, not the 'i'm going to paint Hobbiton' painting), use the pole. You'll save your hands and arms. I married to professional construction painter and he's taught me a lot. Thanks for another hour of fun, Rachel.
Meeting you at Megacon was the highlight of my year thus far! Idk how my year can get any better from there! Lol. You brighten my life with your creativity and humor. Hope I get to meet you again someday!! ❤❤
You are amazing! What a wonderful set ❤ build. I am so glad you had so much fun at your convention, that's great! You deserve it all, Rachel ❤❤ Such a beautiful dress too
This. Is. Gorgeous. What a stunningly creative dress and an adorable, whimsical, lovely set. I audibly gasped for the reveal ngl. I also teared up during your thank you. You absolutely have earned this adoration.

Rachel I have seen you on TV like twice and even ran into a picture of you on Etsy randomly while looking at elf costume items, your pretty out there girl. We love you all over the world ❤❤
This dress reminds me of Jonna Jinton's videos of the sounds of ice cracking beneath the surface- highly recommend. Beautiful gown, beautiful set and beautiful person ❤
I just remember the first sponsorship from Junes journey that it saw was the video where you and a couple other costubers got together and tried each others hair styles and toured New York 😂”I had to ask” I love it, The out takes are always so good 😂
This was also the first video I saw of her ! Her, Morgan Donner & Bernadette Banner ! I still follow all 3, but, Rachel is the Chaos Queen, the Floor Trolliest, the Secret Pants Pan, & just generally goofy, funny & oh SO relatable 😆 If I could only watch one TH-cam channel, it would be hers, hands down. ❤

The flood of happiness I felt. when I saw you had a new video. ❤
Rachel I have seen you on TV like twice and even ran into a picture of you on Etsy randomly while looking at elf costume items, your pretty out there girl.
We love you all over the world ❤❤
I am sick, and this is delightful - thank you! Just what i needed today!
Same! Get well soon :)
@@camelfishy7254 you too!

@@camelfishy7254 thank you! You too!!
Ahh nothing says "New England basement" like a stack of AC wall units 😂❤ This came out so fun!!! Love you
This dress reminds me of Jonna Jinton's videos of the sounds of ice cracking beneath the surface- highly recommend. Beautiful gown, beautiful set and beautiful person ❤
YES!!!!!!
I would love more set design videos... Anything made with cardboard is neat though.
It's such a ubiquitous material that's so easily accessible.
I just remember the first sponsorship from Junes journey that it saw was the video where you and a couple other costubers got together and tried each others hair styles and toured New York
😂”I had to ask” I love it,
The out takes are always so good 😂
This was also the first video I saw of her ! Her, Morgan Donner & Bernadette Banner ! I still follow all 3, but, Rachel is the Chaos Queen, the Floor Trolliest, the Secret Pants Pan, & just generally goofy, funny & oh SO relatable 😆
If I could only watch one TH-cam channel, it would be hers, hands down. ❤
My first video as well, how glad I am now that I stumbled upon it !!
