The back plate sensor is for sensing the direction you are facing. This is why you can run forward while looking sideways using the treadmill. I feel like this is one of the biggest benefits that people often overlook.
@@BOREDANDWELLBORED I'm sorry I may not understand you correctly. But wouldn't you still need the metal frame to keep yourself rooted in one place whilst spinning around and such in that scenario. So wouldn't you still need as big a surface area with a bowl to keep you in one spot and stable enough to not fall over harnas and all?
@Drag0nvil you need a harness like the ones holding a punching bag but that's it. You use the floor in your room. I think 4 large balls on each shoe will do it, like a "omnidirectional" roller skate. I actually messaged meta VR for this idea, I'd like the VR world to take off but that will NEVER happen unless they change the screen. The eye goggles gives me headache, makes me vomit cuz the eyes aren't designed to look in one direction and lack oxygen. The eye muscles need to be able to look all the way up, down, and side to side & have airflow. Using the current VR for prolonged time will blind you. So they need a screen that covers your entire face so you can move point your eyes all the way up and see your forehead and the screen, side to side and down to see your mustache and the screen, like a large helmet with 4 inch gap for airflow. If they do this, it's healthy and realistic.
@@BOREDANDWELLBORED It sounds like you might like the Quest Pro. It doesn't have the best FoV but it uses a halo strap design and doesn't press against your face like goggles.
Great video! I'm not planning on buying one just yet, but knowing this tech is (finally) advancing like this onto the consumer market is good to know. Hope that next Headset releases do good by the VR industry and encourage people to buy these in masse so that they can offer a bit more affordable prices for next iterations.
I had mine in an apartment but I had it on the ground floor. Id be worried if I was above somebody. Also it depends on the build of the apartment you're in.
You have some of the coolest gaming equipment I've ever seen! You deserve more subs my man. I hope to see your channel reach 1K real soon. And then 2K :D
I have one and love it. I play mostly Skyrim but i've noticed that when i walk in Skyrim that it's kind of choppy. Like every step, pause, step, pause....so not completely smooth. Do you experience this?
I tried one a bit ago and walking and running seemed really natural to me. The only thing i struggled with was strafing, but I got the hang of even that after a while.
@@robertwyatt3912 Do you happen to have the setting you used? I love Skyrim on this thing but it's still pretty choppy no matter the setting in the Katwalk software that I seem to use.
@@briankeeney9272 no, its not racism, ur right, but you are being condescending and being rude to a specific nationality. Its the exact same thing as racism except its based off nationality not race. You are affirming stereotypes. Which is wrong.
I own this, and it’s honestly not as good as it looks. It’s kinda loud, it definitely doesn’t feel natural, and crouching feels really awkward. I also find it annoying that I have to play with the settings for every game. Oh yeah, you can’t simply go from walking to running in VrChat, and most other major games. If you try to run, you’ll just go the same speed as when you were while walking, so you have to press the sprint button before you start running. I bought this thing to feel more immersed, and in some ways I am, but the problems I mentioned earlier really break the immersion for me.
I feel the same about my Katwalk C. It's fun for games like "The Forest" and "Skyrim", but the speed mapping can be really poor. The lack of accuracy on movement kills it for me though, I can't use it for anything remotely competitive.
If the game supports sprinting with the controller, then you can sprint in game. There's an option per game in the Katwalk games menu for you to choose Push or Push and Forward or whatever the game uses with controllers. So when you run in game past a certain speed, the Katwalk will tell the game that your running and it just works. Love it.
The speed thing is the developers. If they would develop FOR the the Katwalk instead of the other way around it would be much better. But developers don't even want to develop for PCVR much less a niche of a niche. VR needs a few Killer Apps. (I don't even hear that term anymore... id it still around? I am a boomer. But in the 90's a killer app is what would sell a system. Half Life Alyx sold some but we need Rockstar to get on board but the CEO isn't buying VR is the future.
Good way to get in shape but if only a full scale light steel weapon was available. Like an m4,ak,pistol or sword. As for the shoes, can you just have a magnetic sensor ankle straps or something? Or rolling balls on the base plate?
WE just ordered one on black friday sale the C2 for 1099 but shipping is 350 so still came out to be pricey but we get the nexus to play oculus quest 2 with it. i didnt wanted to buy another different headset since the only game i like to play is GunRaiders. Im so excited to put this on my home office / game room. I feel like with this machine i can move better i will play better kill more efficiently since i dont have to worry about hitting the walls. Does it need the Ethernet cable connected to the nexus or the machine? I want the connection to be fast not lagging bcuz in gunraiders the faster person is the winner.
Super excited for you! Because I don’t have a quest I haven’t been able to try the nexus yet but I am planning on getting my hands on one to test it out. Your c2 will connect via usb to the nexus. The instructions show that you do connect the nexus to Ethernet although I’m not sure how vital that is for the overall use.
Currently on sale for $1,099. I think that's shockingly reasonable, especially considering that the Omni (without shoes or seat) is more like $2,400. I use and like the Loco S, but it is annoying to walk into Skyrim taverns and be unable to sit down. I also find myself having to recalibrate all the time. 🙄
Is it compatible with psvr 2 i wanna go the next step for my first vr experience and was thinking on getting a treadmill but idk whats compatible and whats the best one to get

Ahh, that makes sense. I was confused why it had to be charged in this iteration of the treadmill but not in the previous model.
@Austin the Augustan VR I think they could make it much smaller by putting 12 mouse balls on each shoe and now you don't need that giant floor

Kind of ice skating with out the blades.
