My favorite--- Passenger trains of the transition era!! And Stations!! Love that this is being done. This scene would be perfectly realistic if you added an REA or at least some kind of baggage express section--which all big stations had during this era............ Fantastic. So happy you're doing this! I'm hoping you do a larger non-layout route with a Big station or two, in the future..........
Can you acquire the Wisconsin and Southern engines? I really enjoy your videos from the “small town, abandoned tracks”. I grew up in a small town that had a mainline track, and a couple of branches that were used for a lumber yard there. Old, beat up tracks that I’ve rarely seen been used. Really enjoy the small town switching videos.
looking good joe and the route is amazing and you have look at your tracks on the curves. take a look you will like an octagon railroad tracks. I love your route and keep what you doing.
@Approach Medium i love your union terminal it looks like the 1980,s union station but only the terminal but it shooed have union pacific steam locomotives
Most passenger trains back then had local an through baggage/mail/express. Fruit, express, an seasonal flowers would usually be in the boxcar looking REA express. Unless it was local the cars were usually loaded, sealed while in transport, and then loaded at one of the freight houses or express terminals next to the station. Most ofthe adjacent supporting structre werededicated this traffic.
At the far end where you said you may attempt to place a bridge again, what you could do is place a bridge and then have the end of the bridge be obscured by some taller brick buildings. You'd completely hide the tracks and still have your downtown feel
Hello Approach Medium, this route is looking really good, love the details!!! I am thinking of buying Trainz (TANE), when building these model railroads do you use Trainz - Model Railroad Edition or just the normal Trainz (TANE), the assets that you use are they already in the game or have you downloaded most of them? Sorry to be a pain but i have one more question, How do you do the dig holes and the floor?
I'm using TANE fully with the exception of the Needles build videos. All of the model railroad assets can be found on the DLS or at JR's website. The digholes are an asset for the MRR stuff.
How about a small railroad museum/tourist operation like Tennessee Valley Railroad & Museum, North Caroline Transportation Museum or Tweetsie Railroad.
Great video! Question, when is this based because I noted the manual switches on the main, and they started using automatics ones in the 30’s, when CTC started. 2nd, where did you get those NYC cars you used in the beginning? Thanks
I'm loving it ma!!!! Just a question, but where do you reccomend getting decent free downloadable music. Ifinally got a new video and micraphone so I'm getting ready to start a let's build series for TANE and just wanting some decent music.
All of the music I use is from the TH-cam creator studio. It's all safe to use in your videos without a license. Some tunes require an attribution though so just pay attention.
In N scale they do a modular system that has 3 main lines, they always enter and leave the baseboard on the same measurement ( ie enter on left at 10cm,15cm,20cm and leave on the right at 10cm,15cm and 20cm ) If you followed this pattern on your baseboards then at a latter date you could merge all the routes into one layout. Hope this makes sense . Found this - www.nmra.org/introduction-overview
Zebulon Pritchard I would like to see this too. Container shipyard. Coal operations. A lot of coal movement in Wisconsin near where I am to supply the power plant.
Hey approach I have a question on trainz the Santa fe locomotive the one that looks like a SD40-2 I looked up the cab and compare the one in the game to a Google picture they don't look alike so what locomotive is it?

Here is a suggestion: A 2 baseboard route that models a small town with a trolley (streetcar) running down the middle of the street.
I dig it!
Great video. I always enjoy watching your creative mind work on these layouts.
Nice one again. Lots of fun watching.
You are so good at vuilding routes!
looking good joe and the route is amazing and you have look at your tracks on the curves. take a look you will like an octagon railroad tracks. I love your route and keep what you doing.

Amazing video as always Joe! Can't wait to take some screenshots on that layout.
The music must not drown out the commentary, which is what we want to here
Yeah I'm not sure what happened. The audio was fine when I mixed it but the music got boosted in TH-cam somehow.
Thanks Carlos!
How about the Folkston Funnel railfan platform? That would be a nice place to show off anything CSX, or some freight cars.

Good to know!

Looking pretty neat
I love it dawg keep up the great work
At the beginning of the yard, right near the bridge, a tower would be interesting.
Great video as always
Cool done. When and where will be available?
Maybe you could do a 1 or 2 baseboard snowy model railroad. If you search "winter" on the DLS there are some decent JVC snowy trees and shrubs.
Great video
Yep he did great.

A cool layout would be the model railroad magazine Virginian route they have a video on it if you want to check it out.
How about a small railroad museum/tourist operation like Tennessee Valley Railroad & Museum, North Caroline Transportation Museum or Tweetsie Railroad.
where did you get the roundhouse, turntable, and nyc f7s and pullmans?
Coastal North Carolina Small Town, Norfolk Southern track/trains mostly *if not all* local freight small industries scattered around the town.
Great video! Question, when is this based because I noted the manual switches on the main, and they started using automatics ones in the 30’s, when CTC started. 2nd, where did you get those NYC cars you used in the beginning? Thanks
50's & TrainzForge
Maybe I missed it in the video, but what if you put a loop behind the backdrop for trains to re-enter the layout? If I missed that sorry.
Definitely not a bad idea
Nice Video! Question though, who is this "Other website" you refer to?
I'm loving it ma!!!! Just a question, but where do you reccomend getting decent free downloadable music. Ifinally got a new video and micraphone so I'm getting ready to start a let's build series for TANE and just wanting some decent music.

Add a building that is on some sort of supports and have the tracks go under in that end you had trouble with.
How did you get the US&S Point Machine? I can’t find it on the DLS.
Suggestion and a question, 1. A Small CSX and NS yard. | 2. What was the name of the wall you used?
It's something like MRR wall or something. If you pause the video when I'm using it you'll see the kuid in the bottom right

You could do an industrial town with a small coal mine in the steam era
wear did you get that roundhouse & turntable
Could you do a tutorial on how to change assets or how to fix some like how to change cab interiors
where did you get the NYC steamers? I ask this cause its hard to find them for me
Look on the DLS, theres a few on there, also K&L Trainz have some too but the ones on that website are payware.
K&L and TrainzForge
How about building a coal mine? Or a Intermodal freight yard. That'd be sweet.
Zebulon Pritchard I would like to see this too. Container shipyard. Coal operations. A lot of coal movement in Wisconsin near where I am to supply the power plant.
What tracks do you use?
Love it
How about, if your looking for a lengthy challenge, try a western style 1950s era route.
Cause SP Daylight and UP turbines :)
Watch the movie the general, the great locomotive chase and back to the future part 3. To get a sense of what time period I an talking about.
What’s the matching ballast Called at 5:48
And petticoat junction full length film
Hey approach I have a question on trainz the Santa fe locomotive the one that looks like a SD40-2 I looked up the cab and compare the one in the game to a Google picture they don't look alike so what locomotive is it?
2020 and still no dislikes
Make techaci loop or horseshoe curve
I dare you to do a map with only built in content
And its gotta be a long line railroad
But you can still use JR trains
O_o
1850s to 1910 era. 1 or 2 base boards
I don't think that texture is the one that matches the track actually.. It's close though!
try to build Rochelle illinois
12th Am i braging XD
