  • This is Build Challenge! A new series where I attempt different mini builds in Trainz within a set of criteria.
In the first few episodes of this series we'll be working on a transition era passenger terminal model railroad. The challenge for this build is simply to accurately model the location and era.
Let me know in the comment section what other challenges you would like to see me take on. Anything from a diorama to your favorite industry or even timed challenges, if it's reasonable and I think I can build it within 1-4 episodes give it a try. All suggested builds must be considered small (think 1-4 baseboards)!

The Virginian Mainline would be very cool to see and would have plenty of mountain grades, branch lines, tunnels, large spans over towns and rivers and a electric/diesel locomotive repair facility as well as a couple of yards. It would cover steam, electric, and diesels (something for everyone), as well as the Virginian, N&W, NS, and WATCO Kanawha River Railroad companies.

Fantastic!! Chicago, St. Louis and NYC come to mind when it comes to Union Stations and urban scenes. THERE are SO MANY RURAL scenes in railroading in North America. I love that you are doing Transition Era Station! Contrary-- many of the European and Japanese and Indonesia routes have PEOPLE and buildings! I would like to see more steam and/or transition era -able routes in general, and I love great rural routes like what Jointed Rail (Coal Country and Legacies BN) has done, but want something with at least one great urban terminal...... Your work is GREAT and enjoy it all, whatever you do.........

I would love to see you do something from the UK back when British Rail was at its peak, but looking at some of the other peoples ideas this seem pretty boring. Loved this video, cant wait for more build challenges!

A coastal route would be nice, with track going close to the ocean and serving small-scale docks, fishing ports, fish plants, canneries, etc.
A small tourist railroad set in a generic northeast autumn would be cool, you could also run trains of cabooses.

Please do a build of the San Diego station! i lived near there when i was young, and it is a place very dear to my heart, i always loved seeing the super Chief locomotives passing through and stopped at that station. it is also a beautiful station from its architecture and such

You should try and create a short version of one of the ore hauling great lake routes in Minnesota. A good example is the lake superior and ishpeming which ran Alco power until fairly recently.

Nice build! Very inspirational. To determine the angle of your switches you can use the rulers. They tell you the degree of the angle also. When I do large yards that's the way I do it. Maybe it helps :)

Hello approach medium, what a great start to this new series, as you know i am from the UK and i though you could build a tramway through a small town also with a depot for the trams. The trams could meet next to a small branch line station where people can get from the train to a tram.

The outro reminds me.of Doctor Who. One thing I'd really love to see is a build of a small town with a street running train in modern era US. Hope that wouldn't take too much time off your hands. Great episode :-)

About the tangents and long switches, they can be small in the yards where stuff isn’t moving at high speed. However on the mainlines, then you want to have larger junctions so that passengers can stay at speed and on time. (It’s also considerably more comfortable.)

I think it'd be really cool for you to attempt Taylor yard in Scranton, PA. It's a small yard that you could easily fit on a couple baseboards, but a lot is going on there. The NS interchanges with the Reading & Northern and there is a small intermodal terminal there as well. I believe CP used to interchange there, but no longer does if I remember correctly.

I live in Florida, and I agree, there is not enough British and German locos,we need a better British route, like the west coast main line.there are dozens of British routes that could be done.as far as my home country, why not the North Jersey coast line or the horse shoe curve in pa,there are no good routes that I have found outside of what you have created, jointed rails for sure, and Roy joostens Canadian Rocky mountain.i am 40 years old and if I could wiz through laying track like you do,I would be happy to donate my time.i would like to know how you choose your track, the download station is just loaded with outdated content.if people don't start developing more for tane, trainz is simply gonna fade away.i am willing to learn.start with some tips and tricks without moving 100 miles an hour.great video.one last comment about British content, jointed rails could create a ton of British locos such as the class 57,66,67, 150,158,some of the German DB locos,Amtrak baggage and coach cars,I would buy this content if someone would create it,hell I would donate a hefty sum if someone would please create more content.all the current stations and buildings are so outdated all the way back to trains 2004.shew I am done now.

prr ku I would like to see anything besides the United States as far as routes go,the few routes out for Europe are dull,if tane doesn't get a move on,train sim world is going to leave trainz behind,I have had trainz since 2001 when it first came out.trainz could be so much better if n3v would start creating more routes and content.jointed rail is top notch but we should have a first person view like train sim world, jointed rails locos look good darn real,we need better building roads, splines ect... So many people shy away from tane because so much out dated content, the buildings today look just like 2004,it's a huge shame,I want so much more for this amazing simulator.

    • @prrku146

join jew im sorry but i not pay 25$ or 20$ for single locomotive wtf i play trainz because i don't have money for models. i'm not from usa i don't pay in dollars i pay in PLN zlote 20$ = 70pln that lots of money for my. i don't pay for virtual loko wtf join jew don't make best conntent best conntent make by russians . russian make there locomotivs so realistic for free and usa don't make realistic that make locos to look good like models but i wants a realistic starts up full cab and enginer room trainz simulator SIMULATOR wtf i happenig to virtual rail comiuniti just pay for 1 loco witout cab just to look at the loco msts open rail run 8
tane and ts2017 plis that gonna by 1000000$ for virtual locootivs and routs

prr ku ,you can get a. Nice loco from jointed rails for 6-10 bucks and I spent hours when I started using jointed rails products, they also have a ton of freeware locos and rolling stock.tane is always on sale for half or even a quarter of what it's worth.i have spent hundrens of hours over the past 5 years playing with the route builder.the route builder is an incredible tool once you learn it,the only problems I have sometimes is with the track, this guy in this video could make some money as quick as he builds routes.i go slow, which is ok as we'll.
