- There is no better local spot in the Smokies than to have a bite at Frank Allen Market and Grill. It’s more than just gas station food. It’s a Sevier County institution and landmark. Yes, even Dolly gets in on the action here! Frank Allen has been voted best cheeseburger in the county 19 years running. But the Star here is the slaw! That’s right. Dolly always stops for slaw dogs at Franks. This is the place where the local old men get together and talk about the weather. It’s that local spot. Come check it out with us! As a kid my folks only liked A1 steak sauce so the only time I got Heinz 57 was when we went out to dinner. When I struck out on my own however; it was imperative I had Heinz 57 in my kitchen cabinet, and you're right, its good on stuff other than fries. 👍

Boy, I loved this video. The place is so cool, everyone so nice that is working there,I really liked Miss Julie, reminds me of woman I grew up with. Also I liked hearing about the history and the way Brooks is filmed, like I'm sitting right there listening to the history. Christy does such a wonderful job with the camera.The food looked so amazing, the onion rings made my mouth water. I like Heinz 57 too. Just another very good video, had a smile the whole time, you make the viewers feel like you are right there, except we cannot taste it for ourselves. Neat place

Began one month before I was born! I've never had the slaw dog, but have had more than a couple of the burger. Back then, the burgers must have been hand-shaped and slapped on the grill...SO juicy! I got mine with mustard and onions. I'll have to try to Slaw Dog.

We ate there… burgers and fries were great. On our road trip home, we stopped and got a grand daddy sub for our family’s lunch on the road. The food was all fresh and tasty.

History lesson 👍🏻😃🔔 In our small community, in the good old days😅, we had a gas station where about three older gentlemen gathered to shoot the breeze. We also had a grill dinner also that made good reasonable priced meals😋 We tried to eat here but forgot it was Sunday and they was closed 😢 Thanks for sharing 🤗♥️. God bless

I wish you could air mail the slaw dogs. Lol. I love the fact that you give the history with the review. This is a place we will have to try for sure either when we come for Dollywood at the end of October or for our anniversary in February or possibly even both times. Lol. Never been there but have heard about it and will definitely try it when we come back to the mountains... our friends are still there in the smokies and they went there today for a slaw dog.. No 57 or A 1 for me , like it just plain... thanks for the great review and video... Love you both... also while we were there in the smokies I met a distant relative of yours, her name is Abbey maiden name Ramsey and she said she is related to Gomer and was born and raised there and all her family is buried at the Greenbrier cemetery... She was super sweet and works at the Coalminers daughter shop on Teaster... small world

I'm usually a mustard guy, but not when it comes to country fried sandwiches. Mayo is the condiment along with the dermater(that's how we say tomato in Georgia)onions and pickles and lettuce and cheese. A quality slaw dog is about as close to heaven as you can get without wings. And ALWAYS use ketchup on your onion rings! (wink) Another excellent review.

I have eaten BBQ and slaw sandwiches and I’ve eaten chili cheese dogs with the works, but I’ve never had a slaw dog. I may have to give it a try. That looked delicious!

Ohhhh, I wish there was a Frank Allen's or equivalent in Ottawa! I've never tried a slaw dog and I feel that if I dared ask for one somewhere in Ottawa, they'd look at me as if I'd lost my mind! And the onion rings...ohhh, yum. Like you, Christy, I am ecstatic for onion rings, but I won't touch breaded ones. I'd order a whole basket of them, if I could. That was a great video, guys. It felt really 'homey' given that one of the waitresses was Brooks' second cousin. Can't wait for the next one!

Terri gas stations get a bad rap. Some have the best food!
I stopped here on my way out of town last year to try a burger and slaw dog. My 6yr old begged for the granddaddy sub. We ate on that sandwich the entire 12+ hour ride home 😂

David, how was the meat without the 57 though. I love 57 & A1 but only IF the meat isn't seasoned well enough. My husband said he just may need to go get him a slaw dog now. This may be our next "fast food sin" place when we head back down. We're considered locals but we moved here 10+ yrs ago. Thanks for reviewing and letting us know of this place. 🙂

Here in the north we have the coney dog they say it originated in Jackson MI i live close an have them all the time, Jackson coney island been making them since early 1900s

we got that gas station culture here in small towns n cities in the mid west also lol the old station n my town during days when they pump your gas check your oil tires wipers n al hat the old guys would park n run in have a cup of coffee shoot tha breezen play cards gamble while waiting to get gased up or oil changed lol . i rember casey fisrt moving in they tried run out all the kids n old men hanging at the gas station drinking coffee n soda they eventualy gave up in put table booths for them to set n hang in lol and lot gas stations had good food n some still do like joes kansas city bbq
I remember the old gas station here in Gatlinburg where they pumped your gas and it was just a local hangout. Gas stations can be great meeting spots to be sure. Thanks for sharing 😊
