Go Huskers. My Dad's side of my family comes from dusty McCook, NE. Drove through there again last summer after decades. It was really cool to go back there. Great people in that state. I hope you are proud as hell to be from there, especially today with how fucked up so many other places are. Nebraskans are the best

That was freaken awesome! Gods light show! That lightening is off the chain dude! It was cool too the fire embers floating up in the wind while lightening going off in the back!
I dragrace motorcycles and travel up and down the east coast and the Midwest . Besides racing the thing i most enjoy is camping at the tracks . I have a 6x12 enclosed trailer and set all the bikes up outside and my cot , computer and all comforts of home in the trailer . This video reminds me of that especially when a large storm came through one night in Ohio.
I love that truck! One question, though. Does it have a place to answer the call of nature? Pitch a tarp over the back so you can leave the window open. In summer, it gets really stuffy!

Asking a dumb question here. Instead of dealing with filthy public fire pits, why not use one of those really small Weber barbecues and set it up with charcoal and move it anywhere you want? No wood needed, just a small bag of charcoal that you can stash anywhere. Are there rules against using a small stand alone unit like that? Both my son and I have one when you want that outdoors charcoal taste and they are fantastic.
Wow, just wow! I would just love it if I was in a severe thunderstorm, although maybe in an RV or like you, in a truck... but I would be kind of afraid if I was camping in a tent during a thunderstorm because of the risk of flooding. Also, it would be a bit hair-raising since you never know if there would be a tornado coming down on you.
Have you been woken up by tornado sirens or anything like that while truck camping. i know nebraska in tornado alley.

Awesome footage! Many years ago, my dad's cousin would fly in from SFO to STL for family reunions. He would always bring his video camera. He would get footage of any storms we had. His friends in Frisco enjoyed the videos as it's something they don't experience.
Man...don't take this the wrong way but this video is a great way to fall asleep! Love the rain on the roof and thunder in the background and when combined with your voice, sleep is not far behind. Feels like we're right with you there in your truck.

Yes, rain on a metal roof is super relaxing. I used to listen to it when I was a kid, the house had a steel roof, and it would always put me to sleep.

Storm camping is fun. Just make sure you are not lying flat on the ground in a tent because 4 guys were camping and lightning struck nearby, travelled to their tent and killed the 3 who were flat in their beds and fully grounded and fried. The 4th one lived but had some injuries.
I thoroughly enjoyed the video. It brought back memories of my nights in Vietnam, sitting in the jungle and fields during rainstorms at night. As the sun would come up in the mornings we would first take off our water drenched boots to dry our feet and find that our feet would be as wrinkled as any prunes you'd ever see. I still like the sound of rain.

FYI- NOAA battery operated weather radio works when no cell service is available.
That's why I am glad I am a ham radio operator comes in handy got to get a weather radio they come in handy in a pinch
Great video! Loved the sounds from that storm. As an aside you may want to consider a battery powered weather radio for times when you don't have a cell signal. Just a thought.
I'm dumb, I have the cb in the cab with Noah weather. I never thought to check it.. a handheld would definitely be better

I wish I had stayed and waited but it was the loudest thunder and I kept picturing the trees coming down in us
I would have LOVED to do this! I love thunderstorms...AND crab salad sandwiches. I camped out in my Ford Econoline van back in the '70s during a thunderstorm. Very memorable!

The moment the lightning started I started to feel so relaxed and sleepy, as I went along in the video and the rain started and increased I just wanted to put this vid on loop and go to bed. Storm nights are my favorite they really put me to sleep, and seeing this cozy set up is even more enticing

This reminds me of when my whole family went camping a lot when I was young. Great time all gathered in the camper during a storm playing cards ! 🙂
I got to camp the same way in my 4 Runner this summer while in Arizona and Utah during some the craziest thunderstorms at night! Camping like this is some of the best adventures a person could experience on their own, good food, a good small radio, a good book-magazines or even a little portable DVD player to watch a movie or two. Along with the flashing lighting ⚡ and the sound of thunder during a heavy down pour all while inside your rig safe and sound and comfortable 👍.
I camped in my truck once during a big thunderstorm and it was so peaceful. I slept really good listening to the rain on my tin top.

Being from Los Angeles we don’t get thunderstorms like that so I appreciate the few ones I have seen in my life. Haven’t gone camping like that since my 20’s, brought back a lot of fun memories. Thank you 🙏🏻
This took place in Nebraska. I wouldn't want to be sleeping in my pickup truck during a Nebraska thunderstorm. We all know that thunderstorms in Nebraska have a nasty tendency to start dropping tornadoes. Imagine sleeping overnight in your vehicle and tornado is lurking somewhere out there. 🌪🌪🌪🌪

I have been to Nebraska once and loved it, came down from Mount Rushmore heading back to San Diego, but it got too windy and we ended up in Fort Robinson. Omg we loved it there. Love Nebraska definitely want to see these primitive camp grounds.

I loved how you kept rolling the camera the whole time while eating during the storm was fun and relaxing to watch. Almost every other channel has the person take a bite or two of there food during a storm and say ill check back with ya guys later and then come back storms done. Whats better then having some grub and few brewskis during a storm in your van!! Kudos my friend.

Loved the video. Love the sound of rain on the roof. A tip with the food in the bag...once you have your ingredients in, seal it up and massage it around to mix, cut off one of the bottom tips and squeeze it onto your bun. No mess, no fuss. I love rain. Thanks for sharing.
