I drove a '57 BelAire 2 door hardtop to high school, I'm NOT dead, lol, these cars are the BEST Chevrolet ever built, my opinion, you can fix the speedo with a simple gear change in the trans, takes 10 minutes, don't tint your windows, add Vintage Air, you got a GEM, congrats!

Hey Randy, congratulations on getting that 57 Chevy! Boy am I with you! I’m almost 80 years old and I have lusted after the 57 Chevy all my life really never got the opportunity to get one! That and the 1955 and 1956 Corvette at the top of my bucket list! However, that being said, I would hate to see you get rid of the Monte Carlo and the other ones you mentioned! I am still sweating bullets or the possibility of your quitting TH-cam! I mentioned this in a previous comment that I am disabled in a hospice house and you absolutely make my day! My favorite automotive channel by far! I have made this comment so many times about my appreciation, respect, incredible enjoyment for your channel. I sure hope we don’t lose you you enrich my daily life! Great purchase, Randy! FYI, the ‘57 was the first year for the 283c.i. engine. The steering wheel is from a ‘59/60 impala. The original interior would have been vinyl trimmed fabric seating inserts. I suspect that the engine if not original, could be a 327 or later 350. The numbers on the block will tell you what it is. All in all, you have a beautiful example of a ‘57 two door that has been tastefully modified. I hope you keep it and enjoy it.
Not a fan of swapping the steering wheel to the 59/60 that is an old school mod prefer the stock 57 wheel.

Hey Randy! I agree with your fiance on original wheels with white walls and NO TINT...a/c is a must 👍 Also consider painting the roof and pillars white, it will improve the looks even more! Great video and enjoy your new ride!
The speedometer is fairly easy to fix.
You need to figure out which drive and driven gear you need for your tire size axle ratio and transmission.
The 73-78 GM Light Truck parts books have speedometer drive and driven gear tables for the powerglyde, th350, th400, sm465, & several other common 70s Transmissions in the front section. The 79-84 parts books have the 700r4 gears.
You can download both sets in PDF files. There's a parts book and an illustrations book for each year group. They're 20-60meg each book.
The tables don't list th350 etc they used the RPO codes if I remember correctly.
Light UV tinted windows and air condition is a must

Before you change the LED bulbs, check under the dash and ensure that you have an LED
Flasher. That just might solve your signal issues. I hope that you keep this car as it is a true classic!
The V in the vin is NOT an indication it’s a BelAir… that’s the factory motor design, that it was a V8 out of the factory. However, that’s not a V8 core support. It’s been cut on top… inline 6 cars had the radiator in front of the core support (because they were longer), and v8 cars had them behind the core support… yours being cut is usually done to a inline 6 core support when installing a V8 (other wise the fan is too far away)…. There should be a body tag on the firewall that will tell you if the car is a real bel air or not.
no tint. no white letter tires - but you should get white walls with original hubcaps. yes to AC to make car livable, especially since it already isn't stock, it won't hurt "Resale" value.
57 chevys and 32 fords. The two most iconic hotrods in my opinion.
When you close the door you don’t hear that anymore. Randy , it is a beautiful car . Enjoy it all .
It is possible to leave the LEDs in. You just have to add an 8Ω load resistor at each turn signal light socket (total of 4). They trick the turn signal relay into thinking there's incandescent bulbs installed.
The 56, 57 and 58 all had hidden gas tank fills. 56 and 7 had them behind the drivers side taillight fins, and the 58 had it below the trunk lid and behind a flip up door. Great cars!
If I were to buy a tri 5 car, the year would 1955, then 1957, and last but not least the 1956. The car you got is really BOSS, and I do love it. You are one lucky dude.

Man you scored on that one that is one sweet ride. I would definitely get the air conditioning fixed or at least put in. A little bigger tire and wheel. And tent those windows. People don't need to see what you got sitting in the front seat.

I used to appraise cars when I sold collector cars, I am still pretty up to date on it. This car has had up dates through the years and is not at all original , with the wrong motor, steering wheel, maybe seats or just seat covers, shifter, no restoration except the paint and maybe chrome. You paid up for it but did not get taken to the bank . A lot of cars with different drivetrains, interior, but look almost stock are priced a little below what you gave. You have a number 3 car that has been altered with no expensive add ons. With inflation who knows what it is worth , ten years ago you could by one like it for ten to fifteen thousand.
My late uncle Leo was an auto body specialist and the last time I ever saw one of these in person was at his garage in 1992. Same color and everything. Man Randy don't you ever get rid of this one. Beautiful American car.❤

I love the '57! I would put in the vintage A/C, put in an overdrive auto transmission, and even though I like the wheels, put on the original wheels and hub caps for Jessica! Go for the factory look, I agree with Jessica on the window tint, unless you do the tint in the factory green color.

Randy if you pull the keys out with the motor running you can turn the car off by using the ignition wings on the place around the keys you will be able to start it that way if you turn the key all the way over it will lock the ignition it will lock the the switch and no one will be able to start it! Try it it will surprise you! My Dad could not ever figure out how we drove his car when he was sleeping! The good old days....Until he went to the Chevy Dealership to find out how his smart assed kids could do it!

I would definitely tint the windows with a eyebrow on the windshield !! With either cherry bomb turbo mufflers on it or flowmaster exhaust for a aggressive sound! !!!! With your ideas , it still leaves room for alot of potential ! The car is awesome ! Have a great day Randy !
