Lewis is a horrible chairperson. She is incapable of being impartial. How hard is it to let someone speak within their allotted time without interrupting? Her attitude is ugly towards her colleagues & the residents.

Since she should be fresh out of reading these rules, being that she’s new and have been voting on rule violations, she should have been the first to chime in when residents were only given 2 mins or them speaking at all during this meeting. This tells me that her comprehension is off, she’s messy, a lazy thinker, and/or just voting with the majority. Otherwise, why not raise up and politely ask “is there a reason why the rules note ABC, instead of XYZ?”. This way, you’ve done your due diligence and have a clear picture BEFORE blindly voting? You, too, should do better and take the oath of your post seriously!

Around my way, everything must be footnoted or bulleted (w/date) at the bottom of the Agenda if something recently changed outside of the official latest version of reference materials and MUST BE present until updated. That means, if you have 30 meetings bw now and then, then all 30 agendas would have that same verbiage footed…and depending on the criticality of the change (ie changes in law, changes in ownership, etc) there would be an out of cycle update for the changes. Now, I’m not saying the 2 vs 3 minutes and in which meetings residents can speak warrants an immediate version update to the rules, but considering you all, especially the chair, struggle with the rules in each meeting whether Mays is there or not, you all may want to consider footnoting each agenda with the changes or a simple out of cycle change. Minor change that can help lessen confusion.

This wasn't a council meeting, this was mostly a dumpster fire version of a food fight at the cafeteria, with people throwing food at each other and the dusk settled it became a mess. The Flint City Council needs a parliamentarian who would control volatility in these meetings of Eric Mays’ calling point of order, Eva Worthing making cheap-shot remarks towards other members off the microphone, and Ladel Lewis' behavior unpredictable. I’m beginning to think one person who can control these council meetings in the city of Flint is councilmen Dennis Phiffer has more sanity and fairness, but I also think a parliamentarian is duly needed.
