Bruce has confirmed that he would be willing to come back and play Ash in live action if Sam Raimi is directing, following his positive experience producing Evil Dead Rise.

One of my favourite parts in the first season was when they went to go visit Kelly’s family and Ash was being passive aggressive to the mother because he knew she was possessed. And when she finally turned into her dad out for him he was like thank God I thought I was being an asshole there for a second. Classic ash

This series is Solid Gold for Evil Dead fans and fans of comedy horror. It is just a bummer it didn't get one more season. Seeing Ash fight the deadites in a bleak dystopian future would have been epic.
The best part of any good TV show is the eventual Slip Maker retrospective on it.
My favorite thing about Ash Vs the Evil Dead was how, through Campbell's acting, it shows (but does NOT tell) that his entire bravado and idiot act is a coping mechanism for the incredible amount of trauma that he went through in less than a week's time.
He does kinda tell though. I mean, he has a whole monologue about how that one night in that cabin ruined his whole life and why he deserves better for all the horrific stuff he's been through. A reward for saving the world. It's why he chooses the Jacksonville fantasy. There's also a bit of entitlement behind that bravado imho.
I agree though, the trilogy is basically Ash's descent into madness and how he comes out the other side the asshole anti-hero we all love. Bruce Campbell was so much fun in this. The entire show was awesome.

It's really incredible looking back because if we look at the first film where he's literally nobody and has none of the traits we associate with him, the second film looks less like a tonal shift and more like a genuine transformation of his character. It wouldn't have felt that way if not for the show, because AoD felt like a continuation of "campy" Ash rather than a continuation of his character's growth (or lack thereof, depending on how you look at it). The show really makes it feel like a continuous throughline to who he is.
What a wonderful show this was. Before this was announced I thought we were never get to see Bruce reprise his role in live action again.

This show was pure entertainment. It was perfect. The music was outstanding.
I think my favourite episode was the delta. It was fun all over the bank. So sad that it didn't got a 4th season.
Despite it's flaws it's one of my all time fave comfort shows now. Can't get enough of it. And the video popping up in my recommended was a pleasant surprise! Fingers crossed on the animated season 4

@@darthjason7019Ash's "love" story in season 1 feels forced, season 2's time travel makes no sense but less in a funny way and more just a confusing way, and season 3 ends way too abruptly. The show has flaws, but for every one flaw there's like ten fantastic things, so overall it's a groovy show.
Was 25 mins through another, quite engaging, video and immediately dropped it to watch this.
I love this show so much. Ash truly is one of the greatest protagonists of all time, stradling that line between woefully dumb and yet oddly competent against one particular threat.

This show was criminally underrated, I accept that it was not perfect, but you could see the work and love that was put into it, the cameos and the nostalgic effect were gold. A shame it was canceled just when it was becoming more ambitious.

Pablo and Kelly teaming up with Ash is one of my favorite things to come out of this series and its additions to the Evil Dead lore.

The funniest thing about the cabin being destroyed is that it felt like a reference to the Evil Dead 2 commentary track where Bruce Campbell talks about how they wanted to use the original cabin, but it had been "burned down by a bunch of yahoos"
Wait, they announced an animated revival? There's a chance we'll get to see Ash battling deadites in a Mad Max style post-apocalyptic future? That sounds like the grooviest show ever!
While not a flawless tv show, its one of my personal favourites with how fun it is.

The Jacksonville thing killed me dead. 5 years ago I moved to Jacksonville because i never wanted to see snow again. I got there and realized not only is there nothing to do there, but you are always 1 tank of gas short of finding anything interesting to do. The beach was 20 minutes away and I couldn’t afford to get there. Ash having a dream of going to Jacksonville was so funny and they depicted it like the touristy parts of southern Florida. To me it was like purgatory. A city the size of New York with a Dave and busters as its top attraction. I feel like Ruby gave him a little piece of heaven to match his assumption of what he thought it would be like.
In 5th grade I had to write an essay and had a few topics to choose from. I don't remember what the others were, but one of them was, "Who's your favorite superhero and why?". I was the only kid in my class that wrote a 9 page essay and it was about Ash. My teacher had no idea who I was talking about
The morgue scene was probably my second favorite from season two, just behind the Ashy Slashy Doll. .
Love this show, such a bummer it only lasted 3 seasons
So glad this popped up in my recommended. Ash VS Evil Dead is my favorite Evil Dead media and I will always hold out hope for the fourth season. Loved the video!

I do remember the ashey slashy bits of season 2 was when it clicked that damn this guy has had a miserable life all for our entertainment
I just finished this series and god it’s so underrated I hope someone powerful in entertainment watches this show and realizes the amazing potential and great characters and lore
I LOVE this show. I was hooked since ep.1 because of how well executed it was, & w/such love & care for the previous mythology. The narrative was fluent enough, & it was scene after scene of awesome effects that were fresh, yet an obvious evolution of Sam Raimi's previous lure. I don't think there was a single disappointing episode, & despite them not quite nailing the landing, it's always highly entertaining.
The idea of Ash in a demon filled MadMax world is fucking awesome. I wish they could've made it work

I love this show. It's so over the top and fearless. Definitely scratches the Evil Dead itch. My roommate at the time came in me watching season 3 with the baby wearing the skin suit and was completely mystified. He ended up calling it the baby Megazord.
Bruce Campbell's cameo in Multiverse of Madness was also pure Ash Williams hilarity. Marvel dropped the ball though by not dropping a reference to Army of Darkness Vs. Marvel Zombies.
Great show! It's a tragedy that Bruce Campbell didn't truly break out. Have you ever read When I Wish Upon a Frog? It's a timeline where Jim Henson buys a huge part of Disney, but one of the many B plots is that Bruce becomes a huge star.
My recommendation for the next series for you to cover is HIMYM (I'm curious what your opinion would be on the finale) or if you want to do another short series, Hardwicke House, a British show that rubbed so many people the wrong way it was cancelled the day after the pilot aired, with only six episodes shot (and all are on TH-cam for free).
Don't know if you've watched it, but Psych seems like a show right up your alley. One of my favorite shows growing up and a retrospective to praise or demolish it would be a dream come true.

This was a very fun show. I had some of the same issues with the first 2 seasons. i thought the back half of three made up for the first half but it was a bit of a repeat. Good bloody time for sure. Need that Season 4!

I always felt that there was some kind of lost plotline involving Santa Muerte, especially given that she appeared once behind Ruby but then was never brought up again. Did anyone else pick up on that?

I have basically nothing but good things to say about this show in retrospect. And the cancellation never bothered me too much, it felt complete with a similar cliffhanger arc that Army of Darkness was supposed to get. Or did get depending on which version you watched.
But what sticks with me the most is how fucking NASTY it let itself be. It's up there with Terrifier as far as the levels of gore. Like that scene in the morgue was one of the single most disgusting things I've ever seen in film or television. That part is missed.
One word: STARZ.
If it were quite literally any other network, I have no doubt that we would still be having Ash vs Evil Dead episodes to this day. However, STARZ seems to be afraid to commit to anything actually creative outside of a season 3 (Ash, American Gods, Heels, technically Party Down, but there is a whole can of worms with that show), so it was almost doomed from the moment it premiered.
Well I hate to break it to people who STILL cry about Starz....Starz is literally the only network who said yes. They have literally said they talked to multiple outlets and ALL of them said NO except for Starz....Starz also cancelled it because less than 400,000 people watched season 3. When the first 2 seasons were around 1-1.5 million
Besides Bruce Campbell actually saying Piracy is what killed the series any of the entitled people who felt they deserved it for free who couldn't be bothered to pay for Starz 10 weeks once a year, has nobody to blame but themselves for it being cancelled. Its hilarious when people say they are a fan of something can't be bothered to pay for that thing they "love" so much.

I've been watching Burn Notice and the fact that the show has Bruce Campbell as a main character and is in every episode is great.
I love whenever his character is teamed up with the mom. Such a great duo.

Bruce Campbell was the only reason I watched that show, but even with him in it I lost interest before season one was over. I also was reminded of Blair Witch 2 every time star Jeffery Donovan was on screen.
Please do a retrospective on the show Justified! I hardly hear anyone talking about it even with the continuation City Primeval but it was one of the most engaging shows for a time.

Dialogue they wrote for ash character was always hilarious fun.
I really wished I liked this show but the three things that kept me from fully embracing it were that they retread/remake the events of Evil Dead II as a basis for two seasons, have no idea what to do with the side characters the whole time, and the pilot Raimi directs himself is so good that nothing after it comes close to style and competence. This show could've had fun with a very simple premise and the early episodes were kind of heading there where Ash solves the problem of Necronomicon unleashing demons early and he spends the series hopping one place to the other like a troubleshooter ridding the remaining deadites like an old fashioned Western serial. What happens instead is that the show kind of plods along with contrivances after they drop story threads so that showrunners can show off what big fans they are of Evil Dead II.
The pilot had so much potential, was so fun and creative, and that is what kills me the most! As Bruce's last outing as the character, he gets nothing new to do!

After having rewatched the whole thing on a whim recently, day 1 of praying for the Agents of SHIELD retrospective
one of the best tv shows ever.
I honestly love the ending to S3 and I don't think it needs more. Ash's character arc is complete. He's finally fully embraced his destiny. Rather than ending with him screaming at the heavens for dropping him into another horrorshow, he greets the apocalypse with a grin and a quip. There's nowhere left to go from there. He'll just be happily killing Deadites until he dies.
(Although this would be a fantastic setup for a *video game* continuation. Just sayin'.)
My interpretation of that end is that he sacrificed himself to defeat the evil and succeeded, what we saw after his sacrifice was his version of heaven.

Well, after Bruce said it's his final live action performance, he did reprise the role in Dead by DAylight and Evil Dead: the game. Overall yeah, the show had some flaws, but I still enjoyed every depraved moment! The scene in the morgue in season 2 though.... dear god.

So, I love this show, I think it's a really well done and I also love the gore and practical effects. Season 3 was my favorite, but the psych ward episode is my favorite in the whole show; I *LOVE* that episode.
However, I always have a hard time rewatching the first season cause Ash's racism towards Pablo and sexism towards Kelly is *so much*. One of my favorite things about the show is that they call Ash out on this all the time, and Ash *does* learn. It takes him a while, but he *does* get better. That being said it's also the main reason I hear from my friends for why they can't get into the show, and I cannot blame them.
I hope they get Genndy and Primal crew to make the animation

Idk if anyone caught that, haven't seen it in the comments but one of the threads for evil dead 2 the video game was a doctor trying to convince Ash he was insane inside of a mental asylum.
I always felt that a strength in the films, the running idea of everyone around Ash dying horribly, became a hindrance in the series. Anyone can and likely will die, so there's no real impetus to care about anyone. Every group of character met WILL die in seconds of meeting a deadite. Then the same deadite will throw the main characters around instead of just immediately dicing them up.
