I was just looking at photos from my visit there in May 2023. It was a favorite of my 2 week tour around England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Just magnificent!!
Just stumbled upon this video. Lovely to see the castle again. I remember - for one day every year, all the Catholic schools around greater Cardiff would congregate in the Castle Grounds for the Corpus Christi Procession which was huge - at least back then. Our school's color, St. Cadoc's in Llanrumney, was bright red and it was quite a sight to see hundreds of red headdresses over white veils (especially when it rained).😳 We'd proceed through the streets of Cardiff going past HM Cardiff Prison with it's massive walls (funny what sticks in your mind) and would gradually join up with other schools who had their own colors. Such a long time ago but great memories. Thank you so much for this.
It's a shame Wales wasn't a destination by the people on your cruise. When we come over to the UK, Wales will certainly be a a visit for us. We've always want to visit Wales. It might have something to do with rugby and the history of the game over there and the magical players, Barry John, Cliff Morgan, Gareth Edwards etc. We enjoy your Welsh videos.
Yes, you must visit and as I mention. Cardiff is only 2 hours on the train from London. You can see the rugby stadium in the video, it's right in the centre of Cardiff close to the castle.
Interesting fact regarding Cardiff and the Bute’s was that the first million pound cheque was written at the Coal Exchange in 1909 during the coal boom years
Hi Marcus awesome live video on the castle. I enjoyed it. The only castle we have in Ontario Canada is Casa Loma it was built at the turn of the century. Now it's a tourist attraction. How are you doing? I'm doing well and so is my cat Benjamin. Have a great weekend see you next video 😊
@@flydriveexplore Lots of Roman pottery I think but it was a long time ago - there's at least 2 timber forts under the later stone fort, think we also dug the old medieval Shire Hall.
...many were going to Scotland, Ireland and Northern England...not Wales FYI: Growing up in New York, never heard of Wales until World History class in high school. Even then, it was only mentioned as being part of Great Britain. In the same class, I learned of Ireland and the great Irish Potato Famine, IRA, Scotland Yard and Sherlock Holmes, and King and Queens of England, etc... Also, it seems like the English, Irish and Scottish people (now 30M+ for each group) spread themselves across much more of the USA. The Welsh people (now less than 2M) seemed to gather themselves in only a few states or areas in the USA, like around Philadelphia.
@@flydriveexplore As far as I remember, they do not teach all of the 56 signees, only famous ones like Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. Philadelphia was the colonial period capitol of US and the main area where most of the Welsh people in the US lived, at the time of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 at Philadelphia's Independence Hall, home of the 56 Congressional representatives.
Nice tour marcus ,Cardiff is the smallest city in the world they say!😮and you can bet then they told the Norman’s to piss off, pardon my French.shows how the Marcus of buet money and influence on the town making things better for the folk is how your respected then, now we have the Marcus of porthcawl little joke how it sounds spelled it wrong for a bit of a joke😂
I know this is YOUR channel but as a viewer; I want to see the castle, the land, the scenery, the SUBJECT - not your face. Sorry. Less time with the face shots and more at what we are not able to see but that you can provide us with.

Hi both, we’re doing OK and it’s not raining 👍
Dug on the Roman forts under the castle back in the late 70s early 80s!
Any intersting finds?

Apparently, 5 of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence were Welsh or of recent Welsh descent.
