This is exactly what happened to me, I was great the first 3 weeks after switching from Keto to Carnivore... but week 4/5 I had awful insomnia and only managed 3hrs a night for the last 5 nights... and here I am searching for answers... it's important for us to warn others about this.
Same! My sleep has been awful. Working on getting it better
Here it is...5:30am and haven't slept a wink all night! I'm not even full carnivore!
just started a couple days ago, I'm having insomnia ha its almost 3 am
My insomnia never resolved and I did 15 months in total...Imagine how extremely damaging 2-4 hrs of interrupted sleep is for that amount of time...😨
@@cammieklund don't eat protein 3hours before bed. Only have fat. Eat a piece of butter or melt it. Or have piece of cheese or table spoon of heavy whipping cream. Helps
I got the same issue and that's why im here to try things. Honestly not going back to carbs only for the few special occasions during the year. Will see what happens but I'm also dying from not sleeping well.
Have you resolved the issue?
YES! sleeping 2 or 3 hours and waking up at 11:30, 1:00, 2:00 am since doing carnivore
a lot of your organs working through issues at night.
@@CarnivoreCoachSylvia why do her organs have so much struggle at night since going carnivore and not before?
Me too, lately I’ve been waking up about every hour. It’s absolutely horrible! It’s worse than not sleeping at all, and staying up all night!
Try high fat, stop eating large protein portions, add magnesium and have some carbs.
Not a lot but just 1-3 servings of fruit, and maybe a starch like sweet potatoes if you’re not scared of the oxalates and pair it w some dairy for calcium to bind.
1-Pure Sleep
2-Tart Cherry Juice
3-Tryptophan - coming from vegan diet
4-lukewarm water with Apple Cider Vinegar and honey (honey is definitely Not carnivore)
5-Vitamin B - organ meat
You are so right about the Tart Cherry Juice! My sister drinks a cup of it before she goes to bed and in about 30 minutes she's sleepy. I have terrible insomnia, and have been suffering with it for over 20 years. I tried the Cherry Juice and it didn't work for me.
I’m afraid tart cherry juice will give me acid reflux😞
1 more thing...some Collagen powders used in carnivore coffee, don't have tryptophan and it can throw you amino acid balance out of whack...just learned that...getting tryptophan to finish the jar....(love the taste, but will stop after the jar is done.)
Amazing video. Thank u
Thank you!! Currently dealing with this!
Did you get through?
Update please
When I heard it should take a few days to few weeks I was like no way. I'm 2 months in and still waking up! 🤔
Oddly enough I’m having terrible insomnia for the first time in years and yet I’m extremely sleepy during the day. I feel unusually drowsy like I could sleep all day. It’s so frustrating that at night even my legs are restless.
Usually all it takes is about 4 oz of goat milk if I can't sleep, and before I know it, I'm soon back asleep.
I forgot about warm milk, but not goat’s milk, I’d vomit with that! I don’t understand why, but I hate the taste🤢
@@suew4609if your goat milk has a taste, the milk is not being processed correctly.
This is me exactly im not sleeping at all its so weird
Thank you for that information!
I suffer from sleep on carnivore. Am thinking of having 30 grams of white rice just before bed. Apparently white rice is a clean carb
I think that's what I'm going to have to do, I can't eat much fruits and vegetables bc oxalates
But then you wouldn’t be carnivore anymore- by definition.
Have you tried the white rice? Or maybe the suggestions she made on this video? Is anything helping?
Time did NOT fix the issue for me... I mustered through 9 MONTHS of severe insomnia and constantly running on stresshormones on carnivore and I literally thought I was about to die in the end bcs of the severe sleep deprivation and racing heart with arythmias and stabbing chest pain. I tried everything to fix it but nothing helped. I had to reintroduce carbs. And then after about a year I did 6 months again thinking that there must be something I could do and to just toughen it out but the same things happened and I had to give up after 6 months bcs it got really dangerous again. I had 4 carnivore coaches and I tried everything in my power to make it work. This has been THE most stressful thing I ever have been through and it will take time to recover. It's sad really, I so much wanted to reap the benefits that some get on carnivore...I recently have seen studies that say that hypothyroid people can have real difficulties with producing sufficient amounts of glucose from gluconeogenesis so that probably is the main reason why my body just can't be low carb. I used to think it was bcs of my oxalate toxicity issue, and I'm sure that's part of the problem, but I think the gluconeogenesis struggles is the major factor. The moment I added back carbs after months and months of agony my racing heart finally calmed down...
Same thing happened to my husband. The racing heart, that is. I don't sleep well on low carb. I guess the next best thing is to cut out sugar, flour and processed carbs. That's a struggle!
Have you had consult with Judy? She does lab tests and use supplements. Also, maybe try some herbal teas and some healthy fruits now and then, like doc Saladino (?) does?
so when you reintroduced carbs, did you stay on a mostly animal product diet like carnivore? just with a bit of carbs? or did you switch it up completely and add things like potatoes, vegetables, etc.? I pretty much have the same thing you're talking about! Thank you!!!
@@nanaobx My carb sources are fruit, fruit juices, honey, maple syrup and milk. White rice and dates on occasion.
@@MoneyStrategiesSOULutions I couldn't afford Judy Cho. She seems really good though. My carb sources are kind of the same as Dr Saladino, yes.🌞 I'm not eating as much organs though, I feel like it's a high probability to get vit A, iron and copper overload.
I’m suffering with it too since I started carnivore
I go with it. I have a decent nighttime sleep routine to calm me down. Go to bed and fall into a deep sleep around 10.30pm. Wake up at 3am wide awake! Get up straight away, go and sit in my lounge with blue light glasses on and read a boring book for 45 minutes. Then feel sleepy again and get another couple of hours. Seems to work ok.
Good morning Sylvia it’s funny I work nights I start at 10 PM and really done by 10 AM every since I’ve been eating the keto away my sleep is gotten so deep after four or five hours of sleep I feel so refreshed I think it’s partly the way I eat and exercise daily but everybody is different when it comes to this ,another great video I enjoyed listening to you and you look very beautiful in purple. I hope everything is well with you and your family..
Thank you Norm! Long time no talking! You have the superman body :). It's been a bit crazy with going back to work and childcare, but it's getting better.
@@CarnivoreCoachSylvia glad to hear that Sylvia I always watch you sometimes I don’t reply but I’m definitely watching you the whole time work is pretty busy and I did a little bit of deer hunting. I got two deer this year so I have a lot of venison mean a lot to me that you reached out to me I’ve always been a fan of yours for a very long time and I continue to be that because I love your content and you’re super beautiful too🥰😊
I’m curious if a warm up of milk would do it??
My mum raised us on meat only since we could eat solid food, not because she knew that a meat only life was good for us but because she didn't know how to cook 😂
Since the beginning of my memory I had insomnia before I even knew that there was a word called insomnia and before the term "Carnivore Diet" was invented.
As a kid I instinctively taught myself that if I kept my body still at night as though my body was in a full deep sleep, even though my mind was fully alert and awake, I would still feel like I had a full 8hrs sleep the next day.
I would literally look at what time I got on my bed and what time I'd get off my bed the next day.
I don't know why 8hrs was important to me back then (i started doing this when I was about 10yrs old) but that was the timeframe I intuitively came up with.
I woke up feeling like I had the best sleep ever (even though only body laid still for 8hrs, not my brain).
Years later I discovered the word meditation 🧘♀️ and realised, wow that's what I was doing all those sleepless nights ago.
39yrs later (I'm 49 now), after eating rubbish for decades, I've gone back to eating meat only (3 months so far) and the insomnia returned within the first few days.
Nowadays (nights actually) I lay sleepless on my bed thinking about me meditating myself to sleep as a kid not knowing that that's what I was doing when I was little.
I also think, I know what would knock me out cold if I really wanted to sleep heavy... eating rubbish (a "balanced diet", processed food, fast food etc) that will 100% put me in a food coma.
Or, I can just lay there like my kid-self and think about only one word... "black."
That was the one word I'd say to myself all night when I was little.
I came up with that word because that's all I could see with my eyeballs when my eyelids were closed.
I vividly remember seeing my eyelids as they were closed at nights, it was like they were curtains blocking out any light, then I would feel my body limp almost lifeless and I would listen to my pulse reverberate in my ears.
I heard the sound of me breathing, imagine listening to a sleeping baby breath, the blissful-ness of that sound.
8hrs later (or more) wallah just like magic, a fully energised me would hit the next day running.
Meditating for 8hrs everynight is amazing.
These nights I don't say "black" anymore, I say "dead", because that's how my body feels, lifeless, even though my mind is awake.
Try it, it'll change your life.
Stay carnivore
Meditate every night
I love you all ❤
Very inventive especially at 10, and disciplined. However there is something off or you would be able to sleep, not have to numb out or settle for a meditative state alone. Sleep is required for physiological reasons. While meditation can benefit, it cannot replace sleep.
Hey I just found your video. I am sleeping about 6.5 hours a night with an hour 40 min in between. I am wired off the carnivore diet. However, my skin looks better and my organ trouble disappeared in 2 days.
if you still drink coffee, quit it. If your ketones way above 2, bring it down to just under 2.
@@CarnivoreCoachSylvia 2? What does 2 mean? I have been sleeping a bit better because I am implementing more fat
Try looking at the back of your eyelids… yes seriously. Count the sheep in the back of your eyelids.
Count backwards or pray. That usually knocks me out lol
Something tells me carnivore is not optimal either.. all these supplements tells somethims is off with the diet. I will try to add some carbs again
Only thing that helped me after 15 months of carnivore insomnia..😅
What I feel is like I'm in hunting mode, I sleep less because my body tells me the sun is rising ! go out to get meat, even a slight light In my room wakes me up
500 milligrams of magnesium.
Vitamin B1
10,000 milligrams of Melatonin gummies.
I sleep usually by 11 pm, and wake up around 4, and then again around 5:30 or 6:30 - but most often feel very tired during day. So what can that be?
you aren't the only one. this seem to be the pattern for many people. I go to sleep around 9.30 wake up at 4 and then go to sleep and then back up at 6.30 - not tired, but similar pattern.
If your theory is right, why is it then I get great nights sleep at times and poor nights sleep at other times?
I do yoga and carnivore..yoga make you sleep very well😊🧡even If you are carnivore 🧡🤗
Not so for many. Each person is different.
Plus yoga asanas can do structural harm to some people.
Anything can cause harm even water if you drink too much, silly comment
Didn't help me
@@socratese5many yoga positions are stressful even to healthy joints. And it is not natural to the joints to hold a position that is stressed for long periods regardless of who is doing so. We have advised many gurus to stop holding these positions as they too have hip, back, neck, knee and ankle issues (and sometimes wrist, elbow, and shoulder) - same as everyone else who improperly stresses the joints. Isometrics done properly are the best for joint longevity, along with walking, swimming, rebounding for cardio and safe weight bearing.
@@NaomiAldort How did you get so smart about certain yoga positions? You’re also apparently very smart about parenting. Very nice indeed! I love it when humans do their part in this world, especially the grown ups. 😉
30 minutes before sleep you use butter stick
I tried this. Doesn't work for me. It's giving me the opposite effect. I'm wide awake if I eat butter before I go to sleep.
I have been doing carnivore for 8 days, I wake up at 2 am wide awake.
are you in deep ketosis?
I wake up about every hour and have trouble falling back to sleep, if I do at all. Last night it was almost hourly that I woke up. I’m miserable!
@@suew4609 can you try a teaspoon of honey before bed.
Don't forget the magnesium
I take magnesium, it still happens. I go to bed at 10pam and are wide awake at 3:30 in the morning.
2 years almost exclusive carnivore and my sleep is getting worse and worse.
Are you going to stop the diet?
@@cameronbutler2960😂😂😂

Perhaps paleo is better..
Whole natural foods in balance..
Healthy protein 🥩 🍳 🐟 🍗 🍤
& healthy carbs 🥗 🥦 🌶️ 🥑
Simply avoid processed foods, high sugar foods, junk food
Do all natural balance of some healthy proteins
& some healthy while low glycemic veggies
🥗 🥑 🍅 🧅 🌶️
You don't have to stay on it exclusively. You can introduce some vegetables back.
I heard it said when you are going through this eat more fat...that it will help.
you may be right...
Is fruit a part of the carnivore diet?
No it isn't, but i am not against if it works for you. Some people do better with some carbs. I have a very poor tolerance for carbs so for the most part i avoid even fruit.
Apple cider vinegar and maple syrup! It worked woo hoo!! 🎉🎉🎉 Thank you! 😊👍
Fantastic!
Been on carnivore for 30 days insomnia just kept getting worse I had to stop.
Good! I wish I stopped sooner but sadly I forced myself to continue bcs I thought I could get through it. It just got worse and worse and I literally thought I was going to die. 15 months and 4 carnivore coaches later and I had no choice but to reintroduce carbs. Sleeping so much better again but all those months with extreme sleeplessness and constantly running on stresshormones took a massive toll on my body...😞
@@cammieklundit took me about 3 weeks to recover and start sleeping again, it was terrible I felt like being sick all day, I started drinking the juice of 2 lemons everyday on empty stomach and supplemented with magnesium at night and I also started to eat a lot of fruit that cured the problem. I also added tons of workout and swimming at the beach, try to get as tired as possible during the day.
@@carlossaez9389You don’t mention if you were trying to lose weight, or not. Were you? Did the carbs help you to lose or made it worse?
@@suew4609 no I don't have weight issues, infact I'm very muscular, fitness competitive level, I did it because I had a lot of stomach issues and allergies, st no stomach issues got fixed pretty fast but, that was the only benefit I had.
@@cammieklundI’m so sorry you had to go through that! I’m two weeks ish into carnivore and noticed it about a week ago. I fall asleep great but wake up at 5 and it does take me 30-40 mins to get back to sleep but I can clock in another few hours. Thank you for sharing your story about this so I can monitor it very tightly! The point of trying carnivore is for healing in my case but if I am struggling with sleep that’ll take a toll and do the exact opposite.
What was it like working with your coaches? Did they refer you to a doctor?
How about Dr Elizabeth bright ?
What about 5tp?
5HTP may help some people sleep, not everyone. Try it and see. Better than cherry juice!
Yea ima do keto instead
I have been carnivore almost 10 months and still having insomnia.

L-tryptophan
The human body become dependant on L-tryptophan.😢
@@1timbarrettthe body makes it. But when your body can’t make it, it can lead to insomnia…
Turkey leg before bed?
@@3AdamAnt😅
But all these supplements are plants... carbs; carnivore.
Pure Sleep is dumb, it contains sugar. 5HTP is also dumb and may worsen or cause insomnia in many cases. But the main ingredient in that (pure sleep) spupplement is Magnesium (in form of Magnesium Citrate), which is an electrolyte/mineral, not a plant. It is essential for sleep in the human body. I would say the only good thing to take from this video is to make sure your magnesium and other electrolytes are proper. We used to get electrolytes from river water and food, but now our water is super pure, so we have to supplement with minerals that are lacking in modern drinking water.
@@apollyon9946This is true, but many of us still have trouble while supplementing electrolytes. Why’s that? It’s not just electrolytes!
You had me until the juice.
I knew cutting out a macronutrient wasnt a good idea, this just confirms that. Screw diets just eat your carbs ffs
Carbs are not a necessary macro at all .
Drink 1 or 2 shots of vodka
The start was good. Then I saw you were trying to push products. Which immediately shattered any confidence in your channel. Bye.
Carnivore diet would have killed me if I didn't abandon it. Now I'm left with a permanent arrhythmia and have to take medication everyday to manage it and reduce the pain it causes. So my electrical system is broken now because I abstained from carbohydrates for too long.
BS, that is not even physically possible; there are many other things other than carbohydrates that are not consumed into the body during carnivore, how can you have a permanent arrhythmnia from not eating carbs for too long? arrhythmia's primarily come from electrolyte imbalances, b vitamin deficiency or excess, or some other mineral deficiency or toxicity, primarily copper, iron etc. You just blamed carnivore for something it could not cause, if you have mineral or vitamin imbalances, going on carnivore by itself doesn't mean you don't need to fix them, these arrythmia's continuing for a long period after you leave carnivore also cannot be blamed on carnivore, arrhythmia tend to go away almost immediately when whatever is causing them is addressed, so still having them means whatever is causing them is still there.
Nonsense. I wouldn't hesitate to guess that you did some extreme odd variation of the diet
Sounds like nonsense. Seeing as how there is no essential carb.
Good try pharma rep
Lol....such rubbish
