@@chrisfrench9257 there is... And the cnannel is way more fun to look at instead of a guy reading off of his screen for +1h... The channel im talking about is Alois. Not just a guy reading a book for 1h.
Good luck on this TH-cam channel you make really good videos, super Informative and I like how you give examples with gameplay instead of just explaining why you should do something
bro you are so informative i myself have master 200lp, I mainly play nasus and trynda and I recently started to have a lot of fun with garen so I wanted to start maining him I've learnt a lot from this guide, it's really well made and I have fun listening to you gl, keep being consistent and you are 100% gonna make it on youtube!
Came back to thank you for this guide. New to toplane and playing on a smurf so I don't grief my team, and this was the last puzzle piece I needed. I didn't know Garen was so weak early game, I assumed I just wasn't playing very well. Been playing around spikes more today and it was four straight wins. Playing less with Teleport and Hullbreaker too in favor of Ghost and itemizing better for teamfights which I'd normally avoid. Also tried out proxying into jungle invade and it's fun and efficient as heck. Thanks again for this guide. You know your stuff for sure.
As a Garen otp this guide was really amazing. The 1100 gold mentality really made me play a lot better. You went over things that I've been figuring out after playing Garen for so long, but I was never able to organize those thoughts and put them into exact words and strategies, so thank you so much. That said, some sort of proxy guide would be very helpful, because I went straight into ranked after watching this, and I managed to win some lanes even before the 1100 gold back, but in those same games I ended up throwing my lead after Berserker Boots because I keep dying while proxying. My enemy laner just ignores their wave and goes after me with their jungler and/or mid
I really love your guides, as an intermediate player, its great to learn new things about champs and it's also perfect if I pick up a champ to make the grind easier. I do have to say the silence of garen doesn't scale with level.
What an amazing video! I picked u playing garen a few days ago so this couldn’t be better timed! Any chance of a volibear video in the future? Would love to see that!
It has been 11 years, now it is time to formally thank you for beating the gym leader in Pokémon heart gold for me when I could not. Formally, thank you. This is wicked btw, I’m ready to climb!!
I really appreciate your work. Great Guide! I would like to have some shorter Videos as a Guide. You can make more Videos and if something is outdated you can make a updated Version. I think some of your explanations like the item build may switch with next season. Keep up your work. You have a new follower. Kind regards!
I play as a MONO GAREN since 2013. I have been in the top 3 Garen already and it is still my main champion. I constantly watch videos about other mono garens just to learn een more. But I have NEVER seen such a good video like this. My god, thank you! I'm GM as Garen btw and this information is very usefull. I just disagreed a bit about the enemy champions which counters Garen. I would put it very diferently. And trust me, I already fought each champion as Garen at least 20 times.
Been playing Garen so much since seeing him played at worlds haha. It was so hype to see pro players doing the classic one shot adc moves. I was sure I'd see a Garen guide soon from you, oh great one!
I really like The Format and the Density of reasoned Explanation of your Video. There is however one more Build Choice I suggest one could think about, lets say you are facing Malphite/Ornn top *and* he goes for a Sunfire frist which he is Commited to(Barmis plus cloth or chainvest), in That case neither Stride nor Trinity would give you the Trade Potential vs him that Blackcleaver rush would
Hey I mainly play garen jungle. Is it still better to get berserks as a first back or the ironspike whip ? Also I find black cleaver more usefull after stridebriker do you recommend that or deadmans plate ?
FINALLY people are starting to realize that garen is op! However my build choices are quite different. I go ghost ignite with phase rush because imo there is no such thing as too much movement speed and i find ghost to be more flexible than flash (especially when it comes to ranged matchups). And i go full damage after hullbreaker second item because hullbreaker just gives soooo much stats that it doesnt even matter. Great guide!
I got back into league this yr after taking a 3 year hiatus - I had a friend tell me I was washed up after I highkey inted a few games and he bet me I couldn't get back into dia 73 garen wins later, I've made Master and League of Graphs has me listed as #1 garen NA with whatever dumb algorithm they use 😂all thanks to you and this guide. thanks man, couldn't have done it without this video
thanks chippys for this. I am a Garen main and defiantly picked up a few tips from this and helped reinforced some ideas I already do in game. Im currently at 70% WR at almost a 100 games this season and I think he's a simple champ that people tend to underestimate a lot of the time and has some very good matchups in the current meta. ill add a few things for abilities and combos which I didnt hear you talk about is in some matchups initiating with Q isn't always the best especially against better players on champs that have slows, or engage/engage playstyles like flora, jax, nasus ect. You can use Q's movement speed with E at anytime during or before E and cancel E with Qs auto. It hides the obvious Q sprint animation and the silence stops them from extending the trade as you run away. Q, Flash, R, E is a must for fiora if she has W. R's positioning counts from where garen is placed at the time of the R hitting not at activation. This is useful for pantheon as you can R, flash over him if he uses E. To add once Rs animation begins it will still hit from any distance, so you can R then during R animation flash over walls ect to escape and it will still hit. This is good for 1v2 situations where you can kill one but will die if you dont escape fast. Its very good in teamfights too especially for objectives where you can shut down one target thats low health and flash to another hitting them with Q silence. combo would be something like Ghost, Q, R, Flash, Q auto, E / Stride, phase rush out.
Thank you so much for the Garen guide! It’s been super helpful. As a somewhat specific question: is it better in general for Garen to team fight or split push?
@@CoachChippys Is it better to split push while your team is behind or ahead? i always feel like splitting only is better than teamfighting when my team is behind because of the enemy team getting greedy with their lead and fighting constantly, i can punish them with my splitpush. might be wrong tho just my experience
Nice guide, could you talk a little bit about how you play the Camille matchup since it's in skill-based? I've found it completely unplayable once she hits divine even if I win lane
what about rammus matchup, rn rammus is giga op, I kinda went equal in the lane as garden vs rammus BCS of his proxy. how should I approach this matchup?
What top lene champ i hate is gwen iam a support main and i hate the metas when she is strong because she can block so much with her w it is not fair and when you play around it you get poked out from her team such a lose lose choice any advice for team fighting against her when she is strong and i am and my adc are the only strong members or i or mid?
even being 8 months ago i felt like i had a major skill gap on silver following this method i maxed q first against darius and he couldnt retailiate my dmg and just fell over when i got ult lol
Personally I play flash ignite most of the time because you have a big potential to kill anyone in 1vs1 with good timing or a mistake for snowball plus ignite synergizes well with R
Alot of champs in your skill matchup that I would say are most def in opponents favour. Camille, Yorick, Renekton, Mordekaiser, Trundle, Fiora. If Garen fucks up once, its game over, these champs can make more mistakes and not be as punished.

For me it was proxying too early. I found boots alone aren’t enough.
you should proxy when having a strong lead
You are an GAREN OTP and dont know that you ABSOLUTELY only go back with 1110 gold? Thats meme.
Thank you for those guids it really helps to understand the champ even if we are playing against him.
