    Watching this over an over again after I had my first successful moments watching your bs air tips at zack‘s channel. There one moment really helped me to overcome my fear and just go for a try. It was when you popped a supersmall ollie with a short timed nose grab below coping. So I realized if my transition is steep I can start with it there. All other tutorials go from kickturns with nosegrab directly to over coping grabs. Now that I got my first nosegrab experience I lose my fear of trying it more safe and controlled over coping. Now this video and your motion in the air comes in handy! Thanks for that! The way you try to describe every possible tip that could help doing a trick makes the difference to other youtubers making tutorials.

    I can’t do a backside air but watching this video has gotten me closer than I’ve ever gotten before before I couldn’t even try it before because I didn’t know any practice steps before just going into the in the air because most tutorials just tell you to Ollie or to just do it after they show you the steps to doing it but I am really glad that he said that he likes to kick turn and grab the board because it helped me a bunch

    Thanks for the tutorial!! Im going crazy about transition skating right now because i never had a skatepark where i grow up and now in my town there is a lot of transition. So i get frustrated that i can only skate ledge and bank. Now i have way more fun going all around the skatepark and doing some little tricks on the quarter pipe!!

    Question: what’s the trick to keeping your back foot solid on the board to go back in on vert? It always feels like it my back foot is not sticking to my board and I don’t want to go back in if I bonk, if I Ollie it doesn’t bother me but I can’t go that high

    Great tutorial - I've been trying to get BS Airs but haven't committed to a 'proper' one yet. My attempts are various styles & techniques and sketchy landings or slams. On the finer aspects of landing, are you looking at the front of board or more towards your rear truck bolts to check you're not going to hang up?

    • @BigAlSkateTutorials
      @BigAlSkateTutorials  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      For the most part I’m looking at the front of the board once I go up and grab the board I know I’ll be pulling out slightly so I avoid hang up, when looking down you shouldn’t see anything else but the transition and when you see just that you’ll know your good and won’t hang up. If you see the coping when your about to land maybe your not pulling out enough causing you to hang up. I had that trouble for a long time as well. Trying on hips and other obstacles as well is a very good way to get feel for the trick in general. Hope this helps! Good luck

    • @BigAlSkateTutorials
      @BigAlSkateTutorials  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You got it Jean! Just keep going for it, and take it to different obstacles like fly outs hips and flat walls really helps getting used to the feeling of doing the trick! Good luck

  • @winstonloh1051
    @winstonloh1051 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks again Big Al! The only vert I have is a 11ft bowl, I have started to do kick turn grabs, but too scared to take it up to the coping! Do you think a "scrape air" below the coping would work?

    • @BigAlSkateTutorials
      @BigAlSkateTutorials  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Most definitely. Especially with 11 ft you should be able to start catching the moment the transition becomes vert. May just have to pull your board a bit harder in order to catch some air, but by doing that it will give you more confidence to start going up and past the coping. You got it Winston!

    Edit: I survived, couldnt complete the trick had to flee because my shoe broke lmao, but had a hard time grabbing the board at the top so tried to grab from the bottom of the bowl, working my way up. IT WoRKED. 15 min latter i was able to grab at the top of the bowl. However, i cant lift off for some reason, next time ill try harder, i can already feel it.

    so effortless looking! one day i'll try to put an air down. you think this or fs airs are easier to learn at first? I know you have a mean fs air

    • @BigAlSkateTutorials
      @BigAlSkateTutorials  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Truthfully I have always found frontside airs easier, but from most skaters I’ve talked to they would say backside air is easier. I guess backside air is a lil safer at first because you see what’s going on the whole time as far as what your feet are doing on the board and how to spot your landing. If you have pads available and vert I would start going for the backside airs! And thanks Kyle for your support since day 1

    • @KyleAndersonSkates
      @KyleAndersonSkates 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BigAlSkateTutorials Makes sense! I'm comfortable with fs airs on a hip at my local, quarter to down ramp hip, and fs early grab on flat wall half way down on vert. I guess I just gotta go for it and put the fear behind me. And of course, love your skating and attitude toward it all! So glad I found Dowdy's channel during quarantine and in turn all your socials!
