Here in South Africa we've had the NP 300 for a few years. Very reliable and capable. If Nissan manages to bring it to the USA they will have a winner on hand.

Or even just one little truck like that. If Nissan brings this truck to America, they'll have that whole market segment all to themselves. The other automakers will have to scramble to try to come up with something comparable, because it will be a huge hit with buyers. I'll be the first in line.

I know what you are saying. I picked up a duracraft trailer made by forest river, 5' x 8' covered to pull behind my Subaru Forester. Haul a lot, only drops gass milage from 30 to 24, and no penalty other than storage when the trailer is not in use. I could not justify the price of these non-work trucks that can't cover the basics like you mention. Huge market for classic small trucks that can actually do work. Not all of us are 9' tall to be able to use the bed of current full size trucks of 7' tall for the midsize ones. Here in NC we see a lot of people importing the 25 year old K trucks from Japan, and they are legal on roads here, for this exact reason. A work truck you can reach across the bed, get awd/4wd , navigate narrow mountain roads, with without all the lux-truck crap that is on the dealer lots today.
@@blakeberlin6295 it's just 3.5" shy of 8'. It will fit a few sheets of plywood with the tailgate closed as wood has some flexibility to it and like most midsized trucks there's less than 4' between the wheel arches so none of the plywoods will sit 100% flat on the bed.

Not really! Nissans basically have a grenade in the transmission that set to go off two weeks after you make your last payment or a week after the warranty expires which ever comes first. Also the dealerships refuse to buy the bottom end version they will only buy the high markup models. So by the time you throw in all the fees it will still be a $30,000 truck in a US car market that is utterly crashing in flames

Yeah some if us don't need big screens in dash, bucket seats, back up camera, electric mirror's, 17 in or bigger wheels. I hate automatic shifter in the middle, it takes up a lot of space.
This truck is similar to my old 2000 frontier in drivetrain and size. Same simple interior, 4 cylinder motor although mine had an automatic transmission. But 2700 lbs payload? That's huge for a little pickup.
It is exactly what I am looking for , less electronics to go wrong and a large box for hauling . Plus a great price. I would seriously look at one if they become available.
This reminds me of my first truck, a 1991 Toyota Pick Up 4x4 regular cab. It was a great little truck. I do hope this comes out, I will buy one for my son to drive around as his first vehicle. I do hope it will come with 4x4. The only way this is not a success is because of the dealers and their insane markups.
Ive been thinking of getting one of this trucks as I live in the border with Mexico. I see them all the time in the Texas border town of Laredo. They are importable and it's cheap. I've already bought a Acura TLX in Monterrey MX that I use to drive to and from Laredo to Monterrey all the time. And my wife has a Nissan March with a standard transmission that we bought in Nuevo Laredo that we use just for daily use, very gas saver. My next truck will be this NP300 in 4 door and standard transmission which are readily available. And you can buy them cash, best thing ever.
I don't know, I'm form Mexico and this truck has been in the market for 10 years, is very reliable and is for business and quite capable, but they are planning to bring a new one, maybe the d24 or something like that Because here the Chinese trucks are taking the market, they are even cheaper and as capable as the nissan trucks, only the future will tell if they are going to get to USA or is only a rumor To me is to long 1 or 2 years for the official announcement of the truck, it will be 12 yers since the presentation in Mexico, if they are planning to bring it to America needs to be now
If any manufacturers made a 2wd, single cab, 6 foot bed they would own the market. Keep it simple and they would sell a ton of them for work trucks and low riders.
Back in the 90s, we had some of those little Toyota hardshell pickups at my job. They had no luxuries, the job made sure of that, but those little pickups never needed work and stood up to the job. They were old then, but I guarantee you, somewhere, some- body is still driving them. Bring back pickups like that, tough, reliable, and cheap, and you will sell them everyday.
I'm liking this...only problem is that Nissan doesn't have the proper management to bring this to market....sad really because it would be a good seller...reg cab manual 😊
Doesn't the app the mission standards for that year and beyond so when it gets produced it has to be operational for that time period since they are always squeezing it out just a bit more each year I'm wondering if it will actually be viable looking at the fact that the taco isn't around anymore
To Americanize it and make it CAFE compliant, they'll release a boated, bulkier version for the USDM. It likely will only come in extended cab and crew cab and be exclusively available with the cvt.
Back in 2007 I bought a 2006 Ford ranger with a 7 foot bed, an a 2.8 turbo diesel engine, it was about this price, I still own it, but in October of last year it was burning oil so I have to overhaul it, this are real small trucks, I hope this make the other brands to revive big beds on small pickup trucks, now we only get crewcabs with the diesel engines, we can tow 7k but with a small bed you can barely haul things, we need big beds again.
I own 2018 Nissan Frontier SV and it drives like it's brand new. I just wish the Leaf and Coil Suspension system was enhanced. A replacement system would be the system you see in the All Dogs Website. For some reason they specialize in Frontier's Upgrade.
In the Mexican market towing isn't common, however, the diesel variant has 300ft-lb may do the trick. Nevertheless... It is common to see a NP300 abused with over 2500kg in cargo. (Around 5200lbs in American)
@@richardlambert1544 we could see the rise of diesels in the U.S. New leadership in a few days, California is the major stumbling block to getting back to reliable transportation....but they have possibly blundered for the last time since they ignored warnings and let half of LA burn to the ground.
It won't happen. Dealers will mark them up to the point where they'll be just a bit less than a standard cab, two-wheel drive F-150. In that case may as well order a F-150 work truck.
If they bring this diesel in manual to North America I’d totally buy. Versa 5 speed carries the family, this would carry everything from the store and take my R NineT to the BMW dealership.
I think it will never come to the US market except maybe for fleet sales as there isn't enough profit in them for the American market. If there was you would be able to buy a bare bones Frontier , which of course, you can't.
Very good first move, I always wondered why Honda never got into the pickup game while Nissan and Toyota were. This is gotta be one of the reasons why Honda merged with Nissan, to get Nissan to sell trucks and no so much sedans like Honda, both ecosystems separate and not competing with each other.
If we could by directly from manufactures it’ll be 22k but having to buy from dealers means we get scammed into paying an unnecessary 4k markups. Dealerships in general aren’t a benefit to consumers but lobbyist pay off politicians so we’re stuck with mark ups
I work in Nissan development and have not seen anything indicating this is coming to the US. I've seen plenty of these trucks, as we work with mostly north and south American vehicles, but nothing indicating they'll be available in the US. I could always be wrong though.

This truck is similar to my old 2000 frontier in drivetrain and size. Same simple interior, 4 cylinder motor although mine had an automatic transmission. But 2700 lbs payload? That's huge for a little pickup.
If Nissan comes out with this truck as a chassis cab it will light the US market up! I want one.
I like this truck.
Air Conditioning is Manual?
It is exactly what I am looking for , less electronics to go wrong and a large box for hauling . Plus a great price. I would seriously look at one if they become available.
There's no way this is coming to the US market. I'd love to see it, but I don't think it's gonna happen.
Will Canada see this?
Sweet a new Hardbody. I bought one new in 95 and I might be a buyer on this one
I hope they make one 4wheel drive
Ive been thinking of getting one of this trucks as I live in the border with Mexico. I see them all the time in the Texas border town of Laredo. They are importable and it's cheap. I've already bought a Acura TLX in Monterrey MX that I use to drive to and from Laredo to Monterrey all the time. And my wife has a Nissan March with a standard transmission that we bought in Nuevo Laredo that we use just for daily use, very gas saver. My next truck will be this NP300 in 4 door and standard transmission which are readily available. And you can buy them cash, best thing ever.
I hope it’s not too late. My granddad drove the same Datsun pickup truck the whole time I was growing up. 4 cyl, manual, no epa tricks.
but does it have a POS cvt transmission?
I have a 2007 frontier (all original 400kmi) and a 2023 pro 4x frontier.
I'll definitely buy one of these.
I don't know, I'm form Mexico and this truck has been in the market for 10 years, is very reliable and is for business and quite capable, but they are planning to bring a new one, maybe the d24 or something like that
Because here the Chinese trucks are taking the market, they are even cheaper and as capable as the nissan trucks, only the future will tell if they are going to get to USA or is only a rumor
To me is to long 1 or 2 years for the official announcement of the truck, it will be 12 yers since the presentation in Mexico, if they are planning to bring it to America needs to be now
Did they adjust the CAFE for this? Body on frame is less expensive to manufacture. Nice & it's a 2 door as well! Old S10 Size?
What will happen to that price tag at US dealerships?
If any manufacturers made a 2wd, single cab, 6 foot bed they would own the market. Keep it simple and they would sell a ton of them for work trucks and low riders.
Back in the 90s, we had some of those little Toyota hardshell
pickups at my job. They had no luxuries, the job made sure of
that, but those little pickups never needed work and stood up to
the job. They were old then, but I guarantee you, somewhere, some-
body is still driving them. Bring back pickups like that, tough, reliable,
and cheap, and you will sell them everyday.
I don’t know were you got this information but is total unbelievable !!
I LOVE IT!!!! WHEN CAN I BUY ONE!!!!
I'm liking this...only problem is that Nissan doesn't have the proper management to bring this to market....sad really because it would be a good seller...reg cab manual 😊
Somebody tell me if this will pass the EPA's cafe standards before you all celebrate
With the fuel economy it'll raise Nissan's total mpg. It'll be 50 state emissions compliant.
@@davidanderson8469 I'd trade the west coast for real trucks again. CARB is dummy stupid considering most of their emissions are from wild fires.
Trump is President. EPA regs are gone for passenger vehicles.
If Nissan actually offers one of these in the United States, I am going to be very interested.
I’ve got a 23 frontier with a 6cyl I love it.
I’ve got diarrhea
Rear solid axle & leaf sprins/struts is what every pick up truck should have.
Why can’t they just make their current vehicles more affordable. Bare bones crank windows, manual seats, 5 or 6 speed manual. No screen cloth seats.
I own 2018 Nissan Frontier SV and it drives like it's brand new. I just wish the Leaf and Coil Suspension system was enhanced. A replacement system would be the system you see in the All Dogs Website. For some reason they specialize in Frontier's Upgrade.
For towing it really needs that V6 thats in the Frontier. Four wheel or all wheel drive is almost the standard in the U.S..
If you need those two features, buy yourself a Frontier.
@markhagge8646 you can't buy a Frontier with a long box for hauling. If there is such a thing it isn't sold in the U.S.
Put 4 cylinder in line real diesel like in 1985 and you would get a great truck
In the Mexican market towing isn't common, however, the diesel variant has 300ft-lb may do the trick.
Nevertheless... It is common to see a NP300 abused with over 2500kg in cargo. (Around 5200lbs in American)
@@richardlambert1544 we could see the rise of diesels in the U.S. New leadership in a few days, California is the major stumbling block to getting back to reliable transportation....but they have possibly blundered for the last time since they ignored warnings and let half of LA burn to the ground.
Does it have the infamous CVT transmission?
Nissan doesn’t put CVTs in their pickups, thank goodness.
Any news on their rumored merger with Honda?
Bought a Datsun ,Hustler pickup used in the 80’s 4 cylinder 5 speed manual 6 foot bed loved that truck. Then the iron worms ate it 😢
bring it with a diesel option or not at all
Still CVT though?
If they did bring it here for 22k it will sell like crazy.
It won't happen. Dealers will mark them up to the point where they'll be just a bit less than a standard cab, two-wheel drive F-150. In that case may as well order a F-150 work truck.
I just want a simple basic truck, manual transmission, 4 cylinders, and roll up windows.
If they bring this diesel in manual to North America I’d totally buy. Versa 5 speed carries the family, this would carry everything from the store and take my R NineT to the BMW dealership.
I very much doubt that the US EPA will certify a diesel for sale here!!!
Yup. We'll never see it.
How about 4X 4?
I think it will never come to the US market except maybe for fleet sales as there isn't enough profit in them for the American market. If there was you would be able to buy a bare bones Frontier , which of course, you can't.
This is Really what some people Want.
Reminds me of the Nissan hardbody. I want one. 😊
A reintroduction of the basic pick-up into the U.S. pick-up market would make pick-ups cool again.
I heard these are going to come with an optional 8 track player!
This would be great.
I didn’t catch if it was a 4wd or just 2nd only
This is what i been looking for. With honda and nissan getting together we should have some good cars coming out
Looks practical. Many trucks do not seem practical.
These Nissan Navara or NP300 have been around for a while and are quite popular.
They are body on frame/chassis pick ups.
20k 2door 8ft bed truck on frame is wild
4x4 V8 or i6
@@BurchellAtTheWharf And not jacked up to the step ladder category. I'm getting older and not looking for a monster truck.
What happened to the $12k one?
Does it have a cvt? If it does then I’m walking away
Can we get the Titan back?
Sounds good, but I'll believe it when I see it. Everyone talks about this, and no one actually does it.
I’d buy one!
The Nissan NP300 would get me to a Nissan dealer to buy one.
2018 eas the last Toyota single cab . With a manual transmission the base truvk sold for 18000.
I should have bought 5 of them
We need cheap really small stick shift trucks. They always get it wrong tho. We will see.
Very good first move, I always wondered why Honda never got into the pickup game while Nissan and Toyota were. This is gotta be one of the reasons why Honda merged with Nissan, to get Nissan to sell trucks and no so much sedans like Honda, both ecosystems separate and not competing with each other.
I want one❤
Id buy one in a heartbeat
IF this ever comes to life, it will never be sold at $22k.
If we could by directly from manufactures it’ll be 22k but having to buy from dealers means we get scammed into paying an unnecessary 4k markups. Dealerships in general aren’t a benefit to consumers but lobbyist pay off politicians so we’re stuck with mark ups
If it comes to canada, i hope they have a 4x4 option. I'd buy in a heartbeat
When? In the year 2030?
I work in Nissan development and have not seen anything indicating this is coming to the US. I've seen plenty of these trucks, as we work with mostly north and south American vehicles, but nothing indicating they'll be available in the US. I could always be wrong though.
this is all fantasy. The 300 has been shelved.
It could have been the best if they make their parts affordable and readily available.
They all say new models like Corolla pickup coming but dealer told me not in the US
