Absolutely love this theme! I didn’t know there was a MASH set, so this is amazing. I often used the tents and sleeping bags from Fisher Price Adventure People sets for my Joes, and those small play sets like the bivouac, ammo dump, and rifle range really served to flesh out Joe play value. Great that you put this all together!
Thanks, man! I wish I knew more about the Adventure People toys when I was a kid. I only had the Moon Rover, but I remember playing with other sets and absolutely loving them. Thanks for watching!
@@MySideoftheLaundryRoom Despite limited articulation, they were really creative and pretty indestructible. You could bury them in the dirt or toss them in your kiddie pool and not worry at all. There were some safari and wilderness sets that came with beautiful cloth tents and sleeping bags which I always thought was a nice touch. And hey, it’s always a pleasure to watch these fantastic videos so please keep it up!
When G.I. Joe's 3.75 figure line came out in the 80s they were more military than sci fi. And yet Hasbro never released a military style base playlet. That M.A.S.H. playlet would have been perfect. You could have added those inexpensive G.I.Joe mini sets like the mortar set
Those little playsets were the closest we got. I never had any as a kid, but I've been gifted a few recently and they are so awesome. They could actually put out little sets like that for Classified figures, but for now Gridiron Studios is making some really neat ones. Thanks for watching!!!
I like the Sgt Rock playset on multiple levels; the inginuity of a toybox that doubles as a carrying case and as part of the playset itself. All of which, as a 70s kid brings back fond memories. Though I disliked them all of a sudden abandoning Mego's 8" (10"?) in favor of the 3 3/4th scale, at least the toy industry went all out in embracing that so for the first time nearly everything was a matching scale (what I'll always consider the "Adventure People scale"). Shame they phased out 3 3/4ths (especially because they dont seem to have stuck to as universal of a scale since; it'd be nice if all of these could be compatable no matter the era, though Super 7 and a fee retro-lines seem to be doing some nice additions.
Yes! It was such a great time because the entire toy industry embraced 3.75". I never thought of that phrasing before, and I really dig it. I only had a couple of Star Trek Megos as a kid. I never thought they were that special back then, but now I wish I still had them. Yeah, 3.75" is still kicking even though they just round it up to 4". I really like a lot of the Reaction figures, but the price kills me. For a couple of bucks more, you could get a 6" figure. I also wish all companies would conform to the 6" scale. I stop myself from getting a lot of figures (which my wallet thanks me) because they are 7" scale and would look funky next to my Marvel Legends and Classified figures. Thanks for watching!!!
One play set I had completely forgotten of until seeing a video compilation of 80s commercials is the Tomb of Doom, from the the toy line Super Naturals.
Thats a fun looking playset! I think I talked about that one in the first playset episode I did a few Halloweens ago. Darn my bad memory because I'm not 100% sure, lol. Thank you for watching!!!
I don't know how this wasn't on my radar I would buy it because M*A*S*H is the greatest show ever. I've seen every episode 50 times even when I was a kid I love the show
It was the one show my dad and I bonded over. I watched it with him as a kid, but I didn't realize how great it was until I was older. Before I moved out, I remember us both waking up super early for work and watching a couple episodes on a local channel before we left for work. Good memory. Thanks for watching!!!
In a pro wrestling Table top role play game I play my main baby face or good guy faction is the Heroes with out boarders who where inspired by the doctors with out boarders .
I had that Captain Eagle set snd die cast figures when I was a kid and I can say they were half the size of GI Joe figures so it wouldn’t really work with it. It might work but the scale was off. Eagle Island was also late 70s not 80s.
Hi Rob, I love the series and have subscribed to your channel. I have some suggestions, and hope that you don't take offense to them--they're meant to be constructive rather than destructive. 1. More pics of the sets/figures would be welcome. I know that some of the rarer sets are harder to document, but the one or two static images per set doesn't help convey the overall set. 2. If you're going to stay with limited photos, then less time spent per set talking about it would help the video flow better. That's all I have as far as suggestions go. I do have some requests for sets that were introduced in the seventies (but were well loved by kids of the eighties like myself) like the 1974 Fisher Price Little People Castle, 1976 Remco Earthquake Tower, and the 1971 Weebles Haunted House. I was born in 1982 but it seemed like all of my friends had at least one of those sets.
Thank you for your suggestions. I do need to A. Find more media, if I can and B. Talk less, but I can't help it when I'm excited, lol. I gave myself a lighter channel workload this month so I can plan these changes and a bunch of others I've been thinking of. I hope what I'm working on makes for a more enjoyable watching experience. Thank you so much for subscribing, commenting, and watching!!
Your videos provide the context for recollection of long filed away memories. I call my big brother after watching your channel and we two men pushing 50 talk about how much fun 80s were and all the great toys we had!
The MASH figures were wild---the actors likeness was better than any of other live-action toyline for decades.
I noticed. It's awesome. That sculptor was ahead of their time.
Thanks for watching!!
Totally agree! I remember thinking that when I was a kid. Han Solo looked nothing like Harrison Ford, but Hawkeye, just like Alan Alda! Lol
I have to agree with you. I had Eagle Island as a kid and it worked great with GI Joe figures despite being a different scale.
Dude, that is awesome to hear! I was hoping it would be a good crossover playset. Thank you so much for letting me know.
Thanks for watching!!!

Love the Cobra logo!
Thank you!
I remember some of these items.
Awesome! I'm glad to kick up some memories!
Thanks for watching!!
I remember having a good number of these. Especially the BAD GUYS stuff, and Eagle Island.
Awesome!! I hope they were as cool as they look.
Thanks for watching!!
@@MySideoftheLaundryRoom I had fun, so, that’s what matters.😉
@STRAKAZulu heck yeah!

I just remembered having that figure on the Bad Guys package, along with the bazooka and that black radio. I haven't thought about that in years.😀
That's awesome!!!!
I remember the weapons more so than the figures, from when I was a kid.
Thanks for watching!!!
In a pro wrestling Table top role play game I play my main baby face or good guy faction is the Heroes with out boarders who where inspired by the doctors with out boarders .
LOL! Dude, that's great!
The Best Toy Accessory was always the IMAGINATION! (Especially for us Poh Kids)
Hell-to-the-yeah!
A blanket was the ultimate landscape for adventure. Plains, hills, mountains... it was anything and everything.
That MASH set looks so cool!!
I know! I would love to track one down, but finding room in the laudry room is a bigger challenge, lol.
Thanks for watching, buddy!

Thanks for the info. It's a shame because this mountain HQ would be a neat addition to the G.I. Joe universe.
Thanks for watching!!
All those dime store knockoff toys were great!
Going back qnd watching this series of videos, thanks for the great content!
Wow! Thank you so much!

And just in case your wondering yes the heroes with out boarders have there own korba like heel group they fight the chaos Council.
That is so AWESOME!!!

@RA10H56 that makes me very happy. Thank you!
That's a cool playset!
There are a couple I would love to have!
Whqt was that line that featured black soldiers? They had some cool playset pieces.
Works with Buck Rogers, Star Trek (3/4) Mego and Star Wars
Those Buck Rogers figures were great.
Thanks for watching!!!
I had the MASH playset
