To say Brits have no culture is hilariously innacurate. It's quite sad that people from Britain think that. British culture my be syncretic, but that's just another novelty. Britain is so rich in culture that it's hard to summate the many different strands, but I mean man - just go to an art gallery, a concert hall, the West End, a formal dinner, I could go on. Look at the architecture, the history. British history is incredibly rich, people are just afraid to enjoy it in this modern western climate...

100%. Many people have been brainwashed into a colonial guilt mindset, terrified of being "cancelled". If your fear is that the UK has always been an oppressor, that's factually false. Learn about the Barbary slave trade in English people, the Danelaw, the Norman invasions, the Roman invasions, the Anglo-Saxon invasions, the absolute poverty that 99% of Brits lived in until the mid-20th century. It's all just so sad how ignorant folks are of their own history.

British culture is so vast that it is extremely broad. Dense people confuse a broad, diverse culture that isn't focused on fewer defining elements they can quickly recollect with a lack of culture entirely.
British music, actors, film, TV, scientific discovery, the language itself, food, medicine, technology, manners, comedy...there is SO much British culture it is ubiquitous. It is so often present in so many people's lives they forget it's always there and subsequently believe it isn't there at all. These people will spend every weekend talking English, watching their football team over their internet stream on their computers and end the day, pointing at their burrito, and exclaim "Britain hasn't given us anything as good as this!".

British culture has influenced the world like no other country. The biggest exponents of British culture are, in this order:
    1) Sport:
No other country has invented so many global sports. British sports have over 11 billion fans on the planet.
    2) Language:
The whole world either speaks, or is learning to speak English.
    3) Music:
Google “top 10 bands of all time”. You’ll get hundreds of lists, all different, but they’ll all have one thing in common - the top 10 are always dominated by Brits, no matter which list you look.

@@icilmaa you’re talking about a point in the history and evolution of civilisation when all of Europe was competing to become the biggest colonialists. Everyone was at it. The Spanish plundered South America. The Germans committed genocide in Namibia, the Portuguese traded more slaves than anyone else. No one was innocent. In fact, France still has the most overseas territories of any country in the world right now.
What you’re talking about is called human nature. Humans are the same all over the planet. To point the finger at Britain and ignore everyone else is just prejudice.
Civilisations learn as time goes by: we don’t burn witches anymore, we don’t make people fight to the death anymore for entertainment, we don’t colonise anymore and, we are now learning to stop being racist, sexist and prejudiced…but I see you have still a long way to go in that department.
EDIT: It’s ironic that you say what you say using the World Wide Web, on a computer device - both British inventions - in English.

Exactly, very true. I'm a Brit, I have excellent teeth, and I don't have an empire. And so many of those cliches about Americans can also be levelled at the Brits who go abroad (think Costa del Sol) and make complete arses of themselves by being drunken yobs and boors!

@@SenorSol I don't think it is the actual empire that is miss, but the status, the stability, and the influence. @@OI-rs1bf But there are many countries that enjoy a status and stability and influence even though they never had an empire! How about the Scandinavian countries or Switzerland? Older people tend to resent change of ANY kind, they're simply not able to adapt and just don't like the pace of change. The EU "restrictions" you mention were actually laws that applied to all member states, that benefited all including the UK, so in reality there was/is nothing to resent. And also the simple act of leaving a massive trading block of 400 million people was, and is, utterly foolish and self-defeating.

There is so much culture in Britain, but we are beginning to forget it.
Music: Beatles, Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Queen, Ed Sheeran, Stormzy, etc
Literature: Shakespeare, Dickens, Oscar Wilde, Milton, Jane Austen, Arthur Conan Doyle, Tolkien, Rowling, etc
Science and engineering: Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Ada Lovelace, Tim Berners Lee, Stephen Hawking, etc
Sport: we love all sports, but especially football, cricket, rugby, any Olympic sport, Wimbledon, etc
History: we go way back to the Romans and before, then vikings, knights and kings and queens (some of those are still around), civil war, naval exploration, the empire, Victorians, WW1 and WW2, Windrush, etc. We are in the process of recontextualising our history, which is a good thing, but there is a so much there
Food: English breakfast, roast dinner, afternoon tea, sandwiches (from the Earl of Sandwich lol), fish and chips, gin, whiskey, and of course tikka masala
Vibes: fun language and slang, range of great accents, fantastic flag, beautiful and varied architecture, no written constitution, pubs, great legal and political institutions, red buses and telephone boxes, green rolling hills and quiet villages, we are four countries in one
Our morale is low right now but the UK is such a unique place, we need to protect it 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

At Nimrud, IS detonated explosives, turning the site into a giant, brown, mushroom cloud. Pure jealously full stop. America, is bigger, better, newer, better looking.... has more influence in the world. Brits know it and still think they should be the centre of the universe....case in point: Brexit

utter nonsense. I've lived in the US and the UK and of the two I would pick the UK every time. That's not saying the UK is perfect, far from it, but compared to the US, it's better in almost every way.
Why do you think new and big are better? In what way is it better looking?
