    ► EMOTIVA TA1 REVIEW
    I’ve been a fan of affordable integrated amps ever since I bought my first NAD320BEE years ago. The new Emotiva TA1 stereo integrated amplifier has just about everything you could want in a budget hifi setup. If you’re shopping for a cheap amp with DAC, the BasX TA1 is a solid choice. It could be among the better if not best amplifier for Polk speakers. The TA1 is great if you need a cheap amp for a turntable or if you need a cheap amplifier with built in DAC. Will the Emotiva TA1 amplifier be better than NAD amplifier we reviewed recently? Watch & find out!

      Hey Andrew I've got a question for you! What is the downside to running a line converter on a receiver that doesn't have pre outs? Is this possible to do and still have a great sound with an amplifier? Thanks Andrew and Kristi 😁

    • @andrewrobinsonreviews
      @andrewrobinsonreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Nicholas Jarrett I have never done anything remotely like that so I cannot comment. TBH, I'm not even 100% sure what you are asking when say "line converter".

    • @movie_av_impulse
      @movie_av_impulse 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andrewrobinsonreviews so a line converter is you use the speaker connection from your receiver that converts to into an rca Jax out conversion. Which in turn you plug the rca Jax into the amplifier. Which in turn the speakers run off the amplifier. It's a trick my dad told me years ago but I'm no longer in contact with him. He was the only real audio/video guy that got me into my Obsession with being an Audioholic myself 😆..

    Got this with a pair of B2+ bookshelves, XS8 subwoofer, and an ERC-4 REFERENCE CD PLAYER. Later bought the A2 and connected it via the
    TA1 pre outs. Using these amps plus sub with a pair of SVS Prime Pinnacles at 160 watts per channel into 8 ohms. Very nice setup!

    I just purchased this unit and I am very happy with it. It does everything that I need it to do and it does it well. Setup was easy and the unit was delivered in 3 days to my door. Manual is easy to use and made so you do not need a magnifying glass to read it (big bonus to those of us who have worn glasses for 43 years). The display is a very bright blue and could be an issue as stated in the review. It does not bother me due to it being in my den near my computer that is lit up with rgb unicorn puke lighting. This is an exceptional value and sounds top notch. Great review it helped me to make up my mind.

    Ta1 also includes an internal active crossover (90hz) in the sub output, that can be bypassed, something you don't see on amps at this price point.

    I always look forward to your reviews - thank you both for doing such a great job with these! I laughed out loud on this one, as you mentioned your past affection for the NAD 320BEE... I still have that exact model, but haven't used it in years (along with the NAD C270 2-channel amp). Coincidentally, I'm in the process of looking for an upgrade/replacement for my old Rotel 5.1 receiver, and planning to pull the NAD out of "retirement" for use temporarily, while I shop around. Yes, I've been living in the past for a long time LOL! I'm now looking to modernize and simplify - Hoping 2-channel with the right setup will also work for movie/TV watching without losing the dialog.... Some of your past reviews have me interested in the Naim Unity Atom, and Musical Fidelity M5si. Thought I would start with my old NAD integrated before pulling the trigger on something new.
    Anyway - I just wanted to share this, since you mentioned the same amp I'm about to start using again! Thought it was a nice coincidence.
    Thanks again for all your videos - I love the content and the way you do them!

    I have the Emotiva XDA-2 USB DAC. Love it. It is a full size stereo component. And matches my old school McIntosh 2-channel system. It’s blue lights are similar to the McIntosh and my Furman Elite power source. The Emotiva serves as a the USB DAC for my dedicated MacBook music server. Speakers are Polk SDA SRS which I bought in 1987. 180 pounds each, 62 inches tall. 15 inch sub base radiator, 8 midrange and 4 tweeters per speaker. Works for me. Great review.

    Hi Andrew and Christi. Another great review. For your question of the day, I’m in love with the emotive ta100. I have it paired with the Klipsch heresy 4s and love the combination. As you know, the Hersey’s are forward, but I didn’t find the ta100 to be too bright as I did when Heresy ‘s were paired with a Yamaha. As a matter of fact, I Love it so much, I ordered the new separate pre amp and power amp BasX line. The ta100 replaced a Denon which replaced a Yamaha which replaced a Onkyo.

I purchased the Sony STR DH-190 based on your review for a dedicated, reasonably price 2 channel system. Do you feel this be a significant upgrade in sound quality? It drives a pair of Emotiva B1+ speakers very well in a near-field arraignment. Very decent sound for under $200. Nice remote as well. This has a small footprint which is great for desktop use. I would love to see you review the PT1 by itself, and try this amp with Emotiva speakers, as they are usually voiced pretty neutral. Also, give the guys some slack. I heartily second your opinion of the phono stage in this integrated. It's almost scary good, at any price. Superby detailed and well-balanced, no noise at all on the MM setting (tried it with an Ortofon OM Super 200 and an A-T VM540ML). For only a 50-watt rating, the TA1 makes my power-hungry Polk RTi-A9's really open up. With the ELAC Debut F6.2's, the phono playback is almost holographic, a term I always sneered at until now. As noted, the forwardness is a bit much, and the bass, while great on the deep end, is not even across the spectrum. But it's a steal at $549, compared to any of its competition with similar features. Will I keep it? Maybe, or maybe will swap it out for the PA1 and get a standalone amp.

    I just got the TA1 today and have been playing with it. I don't have the experienced ear that you have, but I actually had to slightly boost the treble and bass for my gr research mtm encores. I actually hated it at the stock settings. I was pleasantly surprised how loud it can get, I was worried that it wouldn't have enough power, but I don't think that's an issue. This maybe do to the fact that everything under 90hz is going to a powered sub. I don't hear the hiss and hum that you speak of at all. I kinda like the way it looks, sorry Kristi. I do think that the DAC is lacking, but I wasn't expecting magic there, but it's good enough for now. I'm kind of curious how good the amp can sound with a schiit modius or a Bifrost hooked to it.

To me that is a total deal breaker and I just can't understand why any company would make a CD player that alters the way a CD is supposed to playback. And like I said I would buy the XSP-1 Gen 2 preamp if it was still available, but it isn't so I can't and they didn't replace it with anything comparable before discontinuing it, which I don't get either.

      Except for their $3/4k pre/pros. They need to make an entry level multichannel processor for like $1500. If the major brands can make quality receivers for $700 that can do 7.1 and include amps, someone should be able to make a high quality preamp that can do 7 or 9 channels for double that.
