I have so many canvases that I don’t like, I’m limited on storage space, and recycling an ugly for a beautiful work of art is in my arena of choice. I’ve never seen aluminum foil done this way, keep challenging me Tiff, you’re the best.
So do I Janie! This is my new go to when I have an ugly painting. I've never had much luck when I pour over a previously poured on canvas for some reason so at least now I can salvage them with confidence that I can make something else. I'm going to do an entire series trying different texture ideas, it feels good to take a break from mixing paint 😉
I love that you did this painting. I have been watching several youtube artist doing what they call urban rust and your first attempt outshine many of theirs! You are inspiring
Interesting, urban rust I will look that up that's a new term for me. It's so easy compared to fluid art, no crazy recipes, and if you don't like it ..... throw down another layer 😉
Finally got to watch your video uninterrupted! GREAT job Tiffany! The blending gave it a great patina look. Now I need a catalyst wedge. Thanks for trying new and different techniques. ❤
I am using plain (nothing on it) embossed wall paper that I purchased 20 years ago, to fix a canvas that has been painted on many times lol!!. I got 5 rolls of it!! and am on the last 90cm, it has served me well. The embossing is abstract. I love this piece Tiffany you did a fantastic job and the end result is beautiful. 💛💚💜
You know they sell a lot of embossing wall paper here in the Netherlands. It's a real thing because they don't plaster walls, they just leave the bare concrete. So the dutch apply embossed wallpaper and paint it. I never thought about that! Thanks for the idea!!!!
Thank you Gloria, a definite departure from my normal work but I'm enjoying the process so I'm going to stick with this type of technique for a bit and see what I can do with it!
So much fun!!! I used the Nickel Azo Vivid Intense in this one to see how it worked. I'm excited to play with them some more on the next piece 😘 which you saw on Instagram 😉
So beautifully, Soulful…? I think is the feeling. I have done a few paintings with “foil” I like to use emergency blankets. They are big, thin and silver on one side gold on the other. And really nice if you want a wrinkly texture
I actually ordered one of those today! I was playing around with gold leaf and thought ..... there has to be something easier that would also give more texture. So let's see what I do when I get my hands it!
Thank you for the shout out was sweet of you. One to be proud of, exploring different techniques is such fun don't you agree. Nice edging by the way (Winky face thing) x.
I could use some more practice, but I finally found a technique where the vignette just adds that extra something! Thanks so much for the tip Gillian 😘
Were you a contemporary artist before you got into fluid art? Regardless, I think you were born for this. I'm in awe of watching you try all the different art forms and nailing every one of them. I would love to try this but, I'm a indecisive person and I think color I would struggle with color I choices.id there any kind of way that you choose your colors? Thanks for any tips 🎨💜
I was never really an artist of any kind, or at least I never discovered I was....does that make sense? As far as colour, I usually look around and see what colours I like and then once I decide on a theme ex. Peacock, then I go to pinterest I look up peacock colour palette .... literally I type that into the description box and see what comes up, then I scroll look at palettes, pick one that resonates with me, see what colours I have and try to come close to matching it. Or when I do a piece inspired by something in nature I type that into the search box...sunset, fall foliage etc. It guarantees that the colours will go together 😉
Hey Tiffany that was a lot of work you did ther ! ouffff! I didn't know where you were going with this piece because you added so much layers ! You are such a telented artist. Love this piece and it looks Amazing 🥰🥰😘😘💕💕
Now you have me questioning why I use the glue other than to make sure that the foil sticks to the canvas and if there are seams do to using multiple pieces. 🤔 once you've got the first layer of acrylic paint, it's a pretty strong surface to work on.
Sorry Tiffany but I missed a bunch. I’m babysitting my daughter’s dachshund and we had a minor “accident.” It looked so cool and I love a patina look so I’ll watch it when I’m not distracted. 🥰
I get it Paula no worries, but you definately need to try this! So much fun and it really is relaxing to do and just let yourself get lost in the process.
This was great! What kind of glue did you use here that dries clear? I can't make out the label. I think I am going to try using aluminum foil..... this was impressive!
Hi Chantel, I've used various methods to adhere the aluminum foil .... you can use Elmer's Glue All (or any PVA glue), gel medium works well or even Mod Podge. They all have various drying time but you can cheat and use a blow dryer on the back of the canvas 😉
Let me know what you think, this was fun and super easy!

This is spectacular Tiffany! I love how using the tin foil allows almost a Venetian plaster effect. Gorgeous result! ❤
Thanks Lance, you need to try texture art with me, I bet we could cone up with some cool ideas!
Thats a beautiful piece and excellent first tree painting. Awesome.
Thank you very much!
I love how you think out of the box. Originality, creative, and just inspiring. I love your perspective in art. Just saying... Thanks.
Thanks so much Elena, your comment reads like an Olympic score, love it! Thanks so much! 😘

I have 3 different catalyst wedges and I love them all Paula!
This was fascinating to watch and the end result..incredible and beautiful!
Thanks Julie, this was fun, it was so nice not to mix paint 😉 and then have to clean it up!

WOW this is awesome and beautiful great texture also a good way to cover a canvas that you didn’t like
I know right? I'm current taking inventory of some of my older pieces and wondering if maybe they need the aluminum foil treatment 😉
This is so very cool, Tiffany! I love it so much! 😍💙
I'm for sure gonna try it. Thanks for sharing. I'm inspired! 😉
Go for it Willa! I don't know why I never tried this before.
Absolutely stunning
Thank you so much!
Incredible, love this!
Thank you Gloria, a definite departure from my normal work but I'm enjoying the process so I'm going to stick with this type of technique for a bit and see what I can do with it!

Je n'avais aucune idée d'où j'allais non plus! (J'essaie d'apprendre le français. 😉)
Brilliant Tiffany ! ❤
Thanks Cathy! 😘
Splendide ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Martine!
This is so, so cool. I look forward to trying the foil trick. It gives such great texture. I really love this.
One thing is how many layers it takes .... OMG!
@@TiffanyRemijnArt that may challenge my attention span 🤣

Well this is a fun technique! Love how you worked it until satisfied. Great tree, btw! I really enjoyed this!
I can't believe how many layers that took to get what I wanted. But I must admit it was really satisfying!
This definitely going on my to try list! Thanks for your inspiration ❤ Just gorgeous!!❤
Thanks Becky, I'm going to start an entire texture series and just explore the possibilities and see where that takes me!

I’ve never seen someone use that much glue !!
Maybe it added to the fabulousness!!
You're not the first to comment on all the glue 😂
oh, this is beautiful 😍
Glad you like this one too! 😉
Tiffany I am sorry I missed the live on this. This is a beautiful technique! The painting is lovely! Thank you for sharing!!
Thanks Deborah, no worries I don't do lives very often and it was last minute.

I can not believe how many layers some of my art work takes to get stuff right Manon! It's a process that's for sure 😍
Nice job, I love the textured result and final image. Does the glue prevent the foil from ripping apart?
Now you have me questioning why I use the glue other than to make sure that the foil sticks to the canvas and if there are seams do to using multiple pieces. 🤔 once you've got the first layer of acrylic paint, it's a pretty strong surface to work on.
Can't wait to see what happens.
Well thus was definitely different for me that's for sure!
I Think what you meant to say was This was fun & I make it look super easy 🤣 Not sure I could pull it off, but I Love This!
Hahaha .... trust me you can!!! Just don't over think it and go with it. You can add a mission layers, even if it cracks it adds to the look 😉

I would suggest Elmer's Glue, its white in the bottle but it will dry clear.
@@TiffanyRemijnArt Thank you!
Hi Tiffany, why did you put the glue also on the top of the foil? Isn't it enough to put it just undernith? What does the second layer do?🤔
I ask myself the same, I do it to make sure that the seams are glued down where it overlaps because I can be rough with the catalyst wedge.
I love it! Is it possible to have the link of the glue that you applied under and on the aluminum foil? Thank you very much!
Hi Chantel, I've used various methods to adhere the aluminum foil .... you can use Elmer's Glue All (or any PVA glue), gel medium works well or even Mod Podge. They all have various drying time but you can cheat and use a blow dryer on the back of the canvas 😉

My pleasure, let me know what you create!
Please tell me what instrument you were using. Is it a sponge? Thanks
It's a catalyst wedge 😉
