- Benimaru Nikaido is one of the original characters created for the King of Fighters series, as a member of team Japan.
Despite his humble beginnings as being another Jojo's reference, he'd been in every single main entry to date. This is the story of Benimaru from KOF 94 to KOF XIV.

Underestimated character. I remember getting mocked for using him in many versions of the game but in the end having the pleasure of seeing the horror face of my opponents as they saw their life bars getting drained by Benimaru's electric attacks. By the way, defeating Krizalid in 99 was a piece of cake using Benimaru... You jump then use down D (The slow falling spinning kick) and immediately follow with a Shinku Katategoma, rinse and repeat.
I always feel bad when using Benimaru against Krizalid XD

That depends on the game. But in some games he is really strong. I dont see why being mocked... Unless it's because of his looks.
I Bought KOF99 a while ago, on the switch and I have to say even tho I'm still learning the combos, Benimaru is my favorite character as well

Benimaru is the only character who can attack his opponents with his Hidden Super Desperation Move, Raijin Ten. Others have the ability to perform their HSDM once but can't attack at the same time with it. Such a Unique one.
He doesn’t get enough spotlight. He’s one of my favorite characters ever, and he’s really easy but effective to use in games.
Benimaru the champion of KOF
The NESTS saga really improved his character.
He is cooler when he isn't with Kyo or Daimon.
Also, he is one of the few people who doesn't treat Shingo badly (unlike Kyo)
Fun Fact: in KoFAS, Benimaru '99 (Aka: NESTS BENIMARU) is currently the only Ultra Rare Benimaru in the game

Do you ever often see the eyes of classic grappler characters in KoF, Shermie, Clark, Daimon
Daimon's eyes can be seen in KOF 98 when he lost due to 'time over'. He'll be lookin like Takuma, not gonna lie. 😂

I have a soft spot for Benimaru, since he's easier to use compared to Kyo and Daimon. He's also handsome, very respectful and loyal to his friends regardless of if he just met them.

Benimaru's my favorite character in the KOF series. I Realized that I pick him in every 3v3 fight. I guess it's because electrokinesis and superspeed are the abilities I would want if I had to choose any type of powers. Not a fan of his fashion sense, but man I do love his Collider/Electrigger command grab move feels really good to pull off. So cool. He has an ego, but is humble and has a big heart for his friends. Thanks for this video. Keep doing what you do!

I’m rewatching all of your lore videos in preparation for KOF 15 and I love Benimaru so much lol I first got into the series around 3-4 years ago and the first game I played was 2002 UM and Benimaru was the first character I played where I was like “woah wait a minute this is fun!” lol so I owe a lot to him

One good reason why i would literally donate for more KOF DESTINY seasons to exist, is watching BENI maturing in the sagas.
in NEST saga he had more protagonism and grew into a true leader and was more involved into the core of things.
In ASH saga he met 2 badass friends, DUO LONG and ELIZABETH and pulished his style stronger than ever
For me a KOF game must always have Kyo, Iori and Benimaru in it. If one of those three are missing it just ain't right.

@@duncan3998 frankly IMO I always found Goro Diamon very forgettable, heck I honestly wasn't a fan team Japan in KOF. I only liked Kyo from the jump and it took me till '97 to warm up to Benimaru.
It's always nice to see Shingo and frankly way over due for a return.
That said IMO Shingo & Diamon are not stables to the series as Kyo, Iori & Benimaru are.
@@tokenstandpoint93 You're not wrong there. In my p.o.v he and Shingo are the side-characters that doesn't bring anything to the table. And since Kyo is on the Sacred Treasures team and Benimaru in a unfitting team, i truly hope they make team Japan relevant again with Daimon as team captain along with Shingo and Saisyu, This sacred gem must not be forgotten

Please do Robert Garcia. He beat Ryo in AOF 3 but sadly it wasn’t a tournament, Robert is an uncrowned champion of KOF. I also noticed AOF/FF characters are better at winning single tournaments, not team tournaments. Because team Japan started as a team and trained that way. AOF/FF are all single tournament type fighters.

I beleive that lin in kof 00 was inspired by scorpion of mortal kombat, just look at his design and his mask, also his backstory of a tribe revenge , and his teleportation.

One of the effeminate fighters in this beloved series. Pushing your opponent to a corner then stunning them is a great technique back then. He is fast, far reaching and classy in winning. Though I never have heard about Jojo's BIzarre Adventure arcade game (the Stardust Crusader one) years after i first saw this guy, I always thought of him being a great fighter. Then Polnareff arrived, oh ok.

Yes, I understand that Ash still is in the Maximum Impact games and that the Meira brothers are their one-time protagonists. (I am German and I NEVER met someone with the family name of “Meira”; “Soiree” is not even a male word, and Alba is the name of a garbage collection company…)
Anyway, we will see if ShoryuGames finds the time to make a video on the MI games. He puts so much effort into it, so I’m not going to press him. ^^

The maximum impact protagonist is somekind of a guy that have low profile when theyre kid with his bruh.. thats why maximum impact was really intimidating when it comes to its lore.. hope shoryuu duno one day make some of maximum impact lore.. 1 and 2..

And you are perfectly right, I just meant to add it as a fun fact. (In Latin “alba” means white, another female word, male form is “albus”. A “soirée” is French for an evening party; and as a given name, “Meira” is female, too… I’m starting to feel weird about it.)
Anyway, yes. I hear Soiree disappeared in the end and left even Alba not knowing about his whereabouts. I’d love ShoryuGame to dig into it and find out!
Benimaru may have Won more KOF Tournaments, but his Power-Scaling is no where in the same League as Omega Rugal, Goenitz, Orochi, Mukai and Igniz.
He is without a shadow of a doubt my favorite character and I am perfectly him IRL

Ah yeah, we gotten to possibly the most consistent character when it comes to competitive play.....at least I think he is going by from what I seen in KOF 11 to 14 and one of the earlier installment. Benimaru have also been a go-to for tournament players and for good reasons: His moveset and electric powers makes him one of a kind. The character himself is quite charming and funny, being a really caring person despite being full of himself at times, and as you said, have some of the most badass skill set in the franchise. The fact he’s based on a Jojo character is a plus for me and considering it’s Polnareff, it probably explains his chivalry. Chalk another one of your videos I ended up favoriting.

"The most" is the kind of words to reserve when your range of experience is so narrow like that and dont include the two most popular games: 98 and 02. Anyways it's still true that he is a popular pick in many games. Also his moveset changes are always interesting. It never happened that one of his new movesets was hated (like the sad case of Iori in Xiii).
@@carlosaugusto9821 Sorry, my knowledge is fairy limited when it comes to KOF in terms of competitive play. It probably was a bold claim but I’m just going by what I’ve seen. About Iori, I understand why people didn’t like his moveset in this game but there’s a narrative reason behind it iirc.

I once made a video of the number of times a character of KOF has won a tournament and I realized while making the video that indeed Benimaru is the character who has won the most times... Anyways I made the video private because I did too many editing mistakes and my voice sucks :p (the video was on spanish, you probably supposed it because of my crappy english...)
