I admit that I have rage-deleted entire transit lines when I had deleted/moved a station without first removing the line-stop that services it. Left-behind stops are maddening.
Vanilla Cities is a bit like Minecraft: you just need creativity and patience to make gorgeous builds🙃 And also 2:03 why do you need pillars when you have street lights? 😂😂
Explanation for the Rail-over-road trick: The maximum length of a segment in C:S is 12 units. The metro track drawn is also 12 units. By adding the 4 unit extension, the game is forced to create a new segment. However, C:S has this mechanic where the game will try to redistribute nodes. The node is redistributed from two segments 12u and 4u to 8u and 8u. But the node is now over the road and the game is unable to create a pillar.
My latest favourite hack (if you can call it a hack) is that the grass in the middle of an airport is just like any other grass, so you can build a national park on it with tents and campfires, just right next to the runways.
@@imperatur So I watched this video the other day and love the angled metro trick. I played around with it and there's an even better trick I found with the one-by-two cell parallel metro station. You can actually put it at a 90 degree angle to a road (add a 90 degree road coming off the road where you want the metro, place the metro station with one cell between it and the original road, delete the road you used to place it). It still has access. Why is this better than the angled metro trick? Because you can fit a park gate right in front of the metro and charge your cims 20€ to use that stop. Plus, because it's INSIDE a park, you can decorate with a cafe, etc, right next to it.
Hadn't thought to try out the rail over road thing, it's like the extended highway without pillars trick. Neat! As it the angled metro within a grid... very handy for console. 5B1C and an Imperatur snippet in close succession: bonus play!
If u have ferry lines, have one stop on each side of the bay, then draw two straight paths that are the same length, the ferry wil now go around in a loop and not have that crazy turning around..
Man I wish they do an update that allows you to see underground roads/metro stations. I think thats a big visual issue in the game because you want to make a hole in a mountain for example and you cant see the other side of the tunnel even though you should in reality.
I have two transit hacks (Really easy): If you have your highways elevated, you can build metro tracks in the median and have metro stations there if you have the train stations DLC. All you need to be able to place a station is to have a road going under the elevated highway and a metro station will be placable right in the middle. I would recommend doing this mostly with the elevated island platform station since that’s the narrowest of the stations but the dual-island platform and bypass ones will work too. My other hack is to use short segments of tram track with median to create platforms for the trams.
You can also extend your lines just by dragging a new stop into the last of the new stations, then the same, just add the stops in the rest. If you drag the existing stop the current trains/metro are going to skeep all of the new stops until the next route cycle.
At 4:50 instead of moving the stop you can click and drag and line that goes back. Your sims will not get angry because you removed their stop. I hope this makes sense.
I like building my light rail (tram) and metro lines down the middle of freeways (or next to it). It's cheaper than subway and it makes dual use of an already existing network (freeway/ highway). I haven't found a way to build light rail stations in the middle. But I have Metro. Dig out the area where you want the station. Elevate the metro line and add the station. Add the connecting roads, bus lanes and parking. Then build the highway around it. I've built two. One with the highway next to it and another where the highway bows out around it and the highway exits from the middle. It's actually part of an office park.
I like that you are talking in the video. It got annoying trying to read while also trying to watch what you are doing. Haven't watched your videos in a while so I hope this is your new style and I'll continue watching
You can use that metro trick to get monuments inside a park area with fence and trees fully around the monument, similar to wide road trick but you have monument at angle. I did this on one of my cities with sparkly unicorn park
2:00 This works because drawing a 12 unit (96 metres) road is near the maximum length of segments in Cities Skylines, and when you draw the next segment, the game will try to automatically balance the length of the two segments to be equal in length. This pushes this middle node onto the road. You've already built these two segments, and the game doesn't check the placement of this new pillar and just doesn't place it, so it works!
Hi, ps4 player here. I've tried metro over 4lane, monorail over 4lane with monorail, train over 2lane with tram. ALL WORKS and all looks amazing. It's time consuming tho
Oh, that guy going with the bicycle into the station really got me! :-) One word thou: raise the level of your voice more a bit please. The music was much louder than you talking.
I LOVE THE VOICE OVER, the videos were fine without it, but your calm voice, and then the bike down the Metro video had me dying laughing. Please keep it up, even if you don't feel 100% comfortable with English.
Couldn’t get the metro above road hack to work on console sadly, but the silver lining is I might leave the house today instead of playing skylines all day.
Thank you for the tips, good video! Just wish the audio was a bit more balanced, I had to keep turning the volume up to listen to you and down when the music was blasting.
i think consol is the same as windows 10 we can only do the first 4 unit, then it stop doing it edit: actually, i was using the 3-way highway, which is the reason it didn't work as intended, but whit a 2-way highway work though
No so, but you might have to do it in smaller steps, like the way you build overpasses over roundabouts (get it wrong once and start the WHOLE thing over again... patient Padawan)
Nice Tips, thanks :-)
No problem

No worries mate, bloody brilliant
Cities Skylines have been released for more than 5 years, and we are still learning new tricks, thanks to lord imperatur

Super Mario 64 has been released for almost 30 years and the community still finds new tricks
