  • I recently did the Bognor 10K; initially, I was disappointed; however, using a technique I employ with the runners I coach, I got a better perspective.

    Thanks Lee, coaching is weird to me. I think the biggest reason I might want to use a coach is to have someone (pretend) to believe in me. I could perhaps carry this illusion but to tell you the truth my best races have been when I was upset about something and ran with a chip on my shoulder or something to prove. The other reason I wouldn't use a coach is like with doctors...most of them are half my age and have little understanding, patience or time to really see how an older person works. One other thing about coaching is that information becomes a commodity which can ruin friendships.

      Totally get your point. For me the video outlined a type if self coaching .
      However that does mean you have to be aware of what your strengths and weaknesses are and how to deal with them.
      I think it's different for everyone.
