I’ve got a .223 slot that I’ve not been able to decide on how to fill it……something like this could sit there very nicely.

Yeah, it's a very pointable little setup. Give Chris a shout at Spartan Refinishing and he'll be able to sort you out.
I specifically wanted to go as short as possible on the barrel length but you'd probably get better performance out of a 18 or 20" barrel
