  • Finally we have miniature goats as pets again! With the addition of Bret and Jemaine to the family, the yard needed some prep work, and then a specialist goat playground. In this video I use 3D printing, CNC milling, laser etching and wood working to create a series of custom goat approved parts.

    Here is the website of the stud we got the goats from: www.springhillfarm.website/
    In case anyone was wondering about my fashionable waterproof orange pants, I was sick of this: imgur.com/a/f6bTEzU
    Also, I will move the crew rings lower so there is no chance of them getting their necks stuck in the loops. Thanks for the concern.

    Great stuff, I would be worried about them getting their head caught in that chew toy though. We used to have goats and they'd manage to put their head in everything even if it seemed like they wouldn't fit.

      I was about to post the same thing. I had regular goats for years and they would get their heads caught all the time. They truly are worse than cats for being curious!!!! LOL
      You could thread another piece of rope though the centers of circles. This would not affect the toy at all but would make it impossible for them to get their heads into the holes.

    • @TeachingTech

      Hamish and Andy were good with our previous dogs. These dogs seem like they want to nip them a the very least. So at this stage I'm not that confident but maybe when the goats are bigger and older it will work.

    What you call a halving joint, I've always heard called a half-lap joint. Really fun build. Love seeing that your daughter is interested in helping. The little guys look like a couple of characters.
    Edit: Oh, and what you called a speed bore is what I've always heard called a spade bit.
    Not saying either is right or wrong, just found the difference interesting enough to comment on.

    • @TeachingTech

    How will the PLA brush holder hold up during the summer? I always thought PLA wasn't a good choice for outside as it would start to get just soft enough to warp a little. Maybe it's because I left something in the car once, and it softened up to the "consistency" of a gummy worm.

    • @TeachingTech
      @TeachingTech  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Inside of a car, definitely not suitable. But under a UV blocking roof in open air, I'm not expecting problems.

    Very cool video, can mini goats be inside pets? Or will they just chew and destroy everything?

    • @TeachingTech
      @TeachingTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      They will chew pretty much anything, even if it's not to digest. Also the poo just comes out whenever they feel like it, so toilet training is likely impossible.

    Hearing "miniature goats" I would have expected them to be maximum cat-sized. These are just slightly smaller regular goats. How is it possible that we were able to make chihuahuas from wolves but not goats small enough that you could have a few of them graze on your desk while you work?

    Just a small issue with name tags bearing addresses, and/or phone numbers.
    This raises the possibility of kidnapping for profit (sorry about the pun).
    Anyone stealing your goats knows whom to contact for a ransom.
    It's much better to simply leave their ear tags on and let the animal be taken to a vet for identification.This makes raising ransoms much more difficult.
    It's a bad world in which we have to think about such things. But, here we are...
