Not a bad looking chopper type blade. Looks like it would make a good addition to a camp to process wood for a camp fire or even rough process hog or maybe a deer or elk or moose in camp.
Good video thanks. Say I think the wood might be cherry. I make speaker cabinets, and that wood looks similar to some of the cherry I have used in the past. Good luck
Amazing as always!! Heads up on the "science" behind the white paint tho.... Aluminum oxide is usually the pigment for white spray paint. Also I use pink, yellow, purple, etc. They all work since its not the pigment that prevents the welding its nasty sediment it leaves as it burns preventing the bond. Regarding the finish: overall, I would say i prefer a clean finish. That being said, the apocalypse theme lends itself to the forge finish in a great way, and i think your decision makes sense - the final machete looks badass as hell! Love your videos, as always
Nice work as always JP…. Have you ever tried or considered CA (Super Glue) for finishing your handles? Achieves the same thing as the nail polish, but is WAY stronger, and will last forever!!! I apply it in very thin layers and sand it out between layers. Take a look at Star Bond thin CA.
I did nail polish to keep it from absorbing the acid and coffee so it wouldn't taint the wood color. Afterwards, i just wiped it off with acetone, but i didn't show that part. But to answer your question, i have, and it works well, especially on raw woods.

My drill is a pain to set to the correct speeds for a carbide bit but i did just break yesterday so it might be time to upgrade to one with better speed control.
The thicker tip will give you more front end chopping power. While it isn't as efficient for swinging repeatedly over long periods of time, it makes it more efficient at chopping through an object in short bursts, like a kukri or similar blades.
Yep, that's wood! Might be a Cocobolo or Goncalo Alves, they have that really deep orange/red colour to them but timbers from that part of the world are not exactly common where I live. Great looking bush knife

beautiful blade! about the handle wood I can confirm with confidence: it's definitely wood (I've seen several woods)
