There's no way in hell an egg shell will break down in a couple of weeks. I stopped putting them in my composter as they can take years to fully break down, even when crushed.

actually if you want your avocados to break down faster leave them at the top for a few days exposed to sun and air...then crush them...with your hands..you will feel the crinkle and then your choice if you want to place in soil or leave at top...either way from my experience that is what breaks them down super fast.
