in ancient times families would abandon people in the forest during periods of famine when there was not enough food to go around. By sacrificing family members to the forest, there would be less mouths to feed and therefore enough food for the rest of the family. Those abandoned in the forest would die long, horrible, drawn out deaths due to starvation. Because of that, Aokigahara is also said to be haunted by the souls of these abandoned people.

People commit suicide everywhere. Aki and Joey are not glorifying it. They are not “contacting ghosts” like Logan and his friends did. They stuck to the paths. My auntie hung herself last year. Aokigahara Forest is notable for being a great cauldron of negative energy. if you feel fatigue or a sense of dread, no matter what, you have to leave.
I remember that my mom told me that she played the ouija in an old shack in her 10's, she's okay right now, but everytime we pass through the place where that shack is, I felt very cold and gave me goosebumps.

Definitely way more tasteful than the Logan Paul video that happened a year later. Having done 13 years of therapy , I myself have an inner scapegoat that would like to visit the forest.....and in some real way as the poet A D Hope says, "life is not only about the pleasures of beauty , music and the act of living , but also the pleasures of pain, horror , anguish and awe" ; having said that my main interest in Japan is still snowboarding and may never see the forest. I saw Joey in the forest and I politely said hello. He didn't say a word; instead, he headed straight for my place and went inside.I found that somewhat rude, but I still kindly invited him to chat. He was kind enough to sit next to me, but he kept talking to the girl outside and ignored me. I asked him why. He said, "this place is creeping me out," and left cold heartedly. I WILL NEVER FORGIVE HIM.. NEVER!!!!

There was this one day in this spring. It had been such a normal day, the same crappy people, same boring lessons, same long looks and laughs behind my back from the asshats of my class. Eating lunch with my only actual in-class friendo, she going on about some new anime husbando, me explaining the pain of long DPS queues.
I was on my way walking home, on a pedestrian lane in the side of the road with some traffic going by. Thinking about what I would do at home and good excuses to skip homework. Suddenly, there was a thought.
What would happen if I just stepped off the lane to the main road and got hit by a car? Would there be much of blood? What would it feel like, or sound like? Would my skull break, or other bones? Or would I just tumble down like the heroine of a tragedy?
Immediately afterwards I stopped walking, slowly coming to a sudden realization of what just happened. I switched to the other side of the road, as far from the traffic as possible, internally asking myself if I was allright. At home, I made a big mug of hot chocolate, cartied it to my room, buried myself under the quilt and my fav blankets and started watching Lord of the Rings from my phone.
The most scary thing about it was that it was just another day of my uninteresting-though-somewhat-satisfying life. I wasn't upset about anything or angrier with someone more than usual. I'd never had such thoughts before.
EDIT, 24.4.2020: hi people I live. Thanks, y'all, for your concern and advice. I'm at a better place than I was while writing this. Not depressed, for starters. If these kinds of thoughts are a frequent thing, chances are one needs help. Trust me, it's worth it.

I went to Japan recently with my college and i instantly wanted to go back and stay for a long time, this is defiantly somewhere i would visit over and over again, i love forests, and i know it sounds very sad, but if i was to die, that would be the place i would do it, surrounded by peace and nature. I can understand why people do it there. Its so beautiful and tranquil, away from everything.
