“West Virginia I am in you…”. Now that’s an opener if ever I’ve heard one!! Excellent video as always. You never fail to put a smile on peoples faces even after a very tough few weeks! Thank you Adam
OMG! I have been wanting to see you smash this challenge for ages! My parents had their first date at the Poky Dot back in the 1970s and I grew up in Fairmont. Now I'm an expat living in the UK, so this is a bit surreal. I'm also a little surprised you didn't go for one of their massive sundaes! Awesome as always, Beard!
I'm surprised to hear you say that things like sausage links, ham slices and potatoes aren't part of an American breakfast. For anyone outside of the US reading this, it absolutely is. These are some of the most common components of an American breakfast, especially at a restaurant or home-cooked. I grew up in California and have lived in Texas for 10+ years now, these are common ingredients in both states and I've seen them in other states I've visited. I think English people get a very different perspective from TV or something about the food we eat in the US. I have an English friend who lives in Texas near me, they have only been here a year and the amount of times I've heard them exclaim how surprised they are by our food is off the charts.
As a non-American and non-English, whenever I see the "epitome of breakfast" being copious amounts of processed meats and fried fatty sides, I hope it is not actually as commonly consumed as it may seem.
American Breakfast Tips: * We do have sausage links and/or a slice of ham quite commonly for breakfast * Biscuits and gravy are a southern style thing but can be found all over * "Jelly" should be clear of any plant fibers, seeds, etc, like a juice with gelatin. But we also use the terms jam, marmalade, and preserves, which refer to more chunky versions of fruit spreads. * Pancakes look good but if you get that little extra char on them they are so amazing.
Haven’t read all the comments, and I know I’m three weeks late, but I thought West Virginia considers itself part of the South. Not the Deep South, and like Maryland and Kentucky never seceded from the Union, but south of the Mason-Dixon Line.
I just love eating a whole bunch of food and watching you eat a whole bunch of food at the same time, satisfies my medieval royalty urge to always have entertainment whilst refueling my gut. Marvelous.
also the fact she looked pantless, at least in video, but I mean it probably help her keeps the change of those workers staying half an hour for a breakfast
ALL true..... didn't hurt that she wasn't (at all) hard on the ol' eyes either.... just sayin'..... FINE as hell.... in MY not so humble opinion. ;-) 😀
Jam and jelly are two distinctly individual things and both are beloved and sold in the USA. Jelly is made with fruit juice while jam is made with whole fruits. Strawberry and raspberry jam will have seeds in it but raspberry jelly will not, for example. Marmalade is jam made with citrus fruits and includes bits of rind.
As an FYI, here in the states jam are fruit preserves that have not been strained while jelly is strained so no fruit solids. Leastwise, that is what granny taught me.
Hey beard! As a fellow West Virginian, i have to recommend you coming to lesage West Virginia to a place called hillbilly hotdogs to take on their homewreck challenge! which is 15 inches long and "contains three and a half pounds of deep fried sausage and a deep fried one pound weenie topped with sauteed peppers and onion, two kinds of cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, jalapeños, spicy sauce, mustard, ketchup and creamy slaw." It is promoted with an "eat it all in 12 minutes, get a t-shirt and braggin' right" deal. It also sells a 15-pound burger consisting of ten pounds of meat, five pounds of bun, cheese, ketchup, mustard, onions, pickles, tomatoes, and mayonnaise. Its a restaurant you’ll definitely have an experience at like no other! You dine in a old bus! Lol anyways, you definitely got to check it out!

And that track playing in the background at around 09:50 is "You're The Voice" by Australia's own legendary - John Farnham. Great service, great food with great music. Way to go !
1. Jam and jelly are two different things. 2. Put the butter on before the syrup. It will melt in and make everything soft. 3. Biscuits and gravy are beloved all across this country, not just in the south. Love this video! 🤘🏻
It's also highly unlikely that the jam or jelly (fruity bits in it or not) was black currant flavor. Black currents were largely decimated in early American history from a disease carried over on imported European plants. So finding black currant anything in the US is pretty rare. It may have been grape jam/jelly tough because Americans often have grape flavored products where the Brits have black currant.
@@DummyDanzDummyAdultFun2024 But he said he's surprised to see biscuits and gravy in the "north" and he's in West Virginia lol. I guess its confusing for people outside the US to realize we dont distinguish north/south solely by where it is on the map but its more so culturally
Ham and eggs is a very traditional American breakfast. Waffle hut, Huddle house, IHOP etc will always ask you, patties or links, when it comes to sausage. Not sure where you've been getting breakfast.
Being born and raised and living right next to fairmont all my life this is awesome! As soon as I seen served in a trash can lid I was like wait a minute 🤣
Ive never seen this channel before and TH-cam recommended this video to me. I read the title before I clicked and I thought to myself, theres no way it is where I think it is. The video opens and I see the gateway connecters of Fairmont and I couldnt believe someone made a video so close to my home.
Just as an added educational fact; Jam, Jelly and Preserves are not interchangeable words as they are made very differently. Jam: made from mashed fruit. Usually has mashed fruits. Jelly: made from strained fruits. No fruit chunks in it. More like half melty jello. Preserves: chunks of fruits that aren't always mashed. EDIT: Wow. I was not expecting the variety of comments. I love the 'Merica mentions like this isn't the method recognized Worldwide. This post is less about correction and more about education in a simplified manner. This has nothing to do with 'Murica vs the World. Sheesh. Buncha pitchforkers round here.
i saw that too, but he isnt familiar with american food. he thought home fries(north)/fried potatoes(south), sausage links and ham steak weren't typical american breakfast items. i dont blame him, he just hasnt spent enough time in the states.
@samwaldorf8777 I don't put ham in my breakfast usually, sausage links, though yeah. Also, to the OP. I actually argued with a guy about those specific words. Was some British dude
@@DaysofKnight i'm not a huge fan of ham steak, or "country ham" for breakfast, id rather have sausage links, steak, corned beef hash or bacon(rather than sausage patties); the ham is always a bit salty for my taste, but i do occasionally eat a ham steak with breakfast - especially if im getting a breakfast biscuit. and he probably isnt away that they sell them(ham steaks) in damn near every grocery store in the US, and breakfast sausage(links) even more so. my favorite breakfast though has to be: 2 sausage links, corned beef hash, hash browns, 2 eggs(both hash browns and eggs with plenty of tabasco), rye toast and hot tea with milk and sugar. either that or just steak and eggs lol.
"they are made very differently. " the only difference is the chunks so i guess any type of fruit spread is just called Jam.. Also what you call Jello we call Jelly.
They’ve clearly seen your videos, heard the noises you make when you eat and for the mental health of the other customers they’ve put you in the total opposite corner 😂
Remember the fear in your bones when you would hear the Antiques Roadshow trumpets blaring out from the TV in the front room or the Black Beauty theme playing as you were playing your Commodore 64 upstairs, and it was either "You need to take a bath!" or "Stop playing, you've been on that thing all day!" from your parents? I actually have that feeling now on a Sunday before work at age 44 :( I need to stop playing Star Wars Outlaws and take a bath...
My home state. 🖤 Just wanted to thank you. I’ve had a lot of health issues with being hungry or being able to eat, I’ll put your videos on and they help me in a weird way. Really appreciate the awesome videos and hilarious commentary banter! Keep up the amazing job! 🖤🖤
I'm a Brit who is going to emigrate to USA (CANT WAIT!) in the years of visiting USA, a British person would never understand how absolutely ❤delicious❤ biscuits and gravy is. I guess the only way one can describe them is savoury scones, covered in light gravy with no browning , with meat bits. Yummy! I think it's the pale white gravy that takes some understanding 😅😅. Hope Heinz paid you a few pennies for that nice little bit of advertising 🍅
Compared to the absolute "don't you know who I am" self entitled muppets from social media, Beard carries himself with such humility, humour and the air of being just a genuinely nice guy. It's refreshing and I'm sure Adam wouldn't have it any other way Beard, thanks for eating, so I can enjoy it vicariously through you. Doing the union jack proud 👊
Feels like that was expert mode, not only did he do the challenge but he added cheese to the eggs, peppers and onions to the potatoes, AND got talked into the fattest toast. 😂 Well played per usual.
And I really enjoyed seeing an Englishman doing a food challenge in the USA while Tom Schilling played in the background. Their music is 80s clichée, in a good way.
"We're in the North, so I'm surprised there's biscuits and gravy" - just to clarify, WV is historically considered the South in the US, so biscuits and gravy IS appropriate.

You leave our Biscuits and Gravy IN THE SOUTH, dammit 😂😂😂
@@DummyDanzDummyAdultFun2024 But he said he's surprised to see biscuits and gravy in the "north" and he's in West Virginia lol. I guess its confusing for people outside the US to realize we dont distinguish north/south solely by where it is on the map but its more so culturally
@@meghanm6282 Considering Fairmont is south of the Mason-Dixon, I wouldn't have considered it the north, but it isn't something worth quibbling over.
Also, preserves are something else entirely
Idk bout them pancakes but DEM CAKES tho
Sorry I had to, I'll see myself out now
Cakes for days lmao
😂 you can stay, by order of the Biscuits n Gravy Magistrate
Pancakes were looking hefty 👀 2 of them probably weighed more than the rest of the meal
My goat
Boss man is here.
When you snorted in the beginning, I laughed so hard, almost inhaled my joint. Still love the drone footage, like always!
Them cakes look pretty damn good too!
At 9:20 ? Absolutely! 😊
Surely you should’ve given it the “I HAVE THE POWER” at the end!? 😂
Beat me to it.
I’m not the only
One noticing that dump truck there, right?
Bro she triple caked up🤣🤣🤣🤣
Brooooo.
Oh beard was noticing 😅
Ham and eggs is a very traditional American breakfast.
Waffle hut, Huddle house, IHOP etc will always ask you, patties or links, when it comes to sausage.
Not sure where you've been getting breakfast.
Being born and raised and living right next to fairmont all my life this is awesome! As soon as I seen served in a trash can lid I was like wait a minute 🤣
Beardy taking a peek at the 🎂 5:39. Lol. Nice.
Think he was looking at his root beer. Beard is too much of a gent
lol definitely looks at it
100% he did haha. Someone should find her @ she does have a cake
@@PadawanRushlowfreak
She had something in her side pocket sticking out and also something dangling off her arm. I think he was looking at those 🤔
Finished with John Farnham singing "I'm the voice try and understand me!" in the background. Classic!
"Is that a trash can lid?"
"Ye, but it's a clean one"
Touché 🤣
The lines you keep cocked for the funny-guy-customers
Ive never seen this channel before and TH-cam recommended this video to me. I read the title before I clicked and I thought to myself, theres no way it is where I think it is. The video opens and I see the gateway connecters of Fairmont and I couldnt believe someone made a video so close to my home.
They really did a number with the swirls on the pie plate. Love it
Couldn't agree more, the waitress was just the nicest person ever!
Mr Beard - how do you do it? LOL!
Go talk to her and see how it goes
OH SHIT! I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE SEEN THIS! Born, raised, and still live here. Glad to see the news of this made it to TH-cam.
I'm from Fairmont too.
im in fairmont too!!!
Spent most of my childhood in Braxton County. I do miss living in the backwoods.
Fairmont bros assemble!
Awesome to see another Mountaineer!
Preserves 4 life.
Peter Schilling - Major Tom
Haven't expected that 🤣 7:45
Thank you! I was trying to figure out that song. I love it, but I couldn't figure out what it was.
major tom in the background surprised me @7:45 XD
Ja voll mich auch 😂
Great job Adam! Finishing with John Farnham singing in the background, was a bonus for me.
That was a treat, yes, also I think Katrina and the Waves in there at one point 😊
That trash can lid spin made him genuinely happy for a moment...pure joy and proudness of the accomplishment.
Keep it up brotha! 🔥🔥🔥
Sunday evening comfort TV through the ages:

Comfort? Any time I hear last of the summer wine I have flashbacks and a sense of impending doom 😂
Ah miss me a bit of compo n the boys

“Wanna tell me the rules real quick?”
*Slowly killing time so the food doesn’t SCALD him*
Edit: The pancakes never scolded Beard.
I think the word you’re looking for is scald, because I don’t think the food is going to tell him off.
One never knows. He has an adversarial relationship with pancakes.
Not very nice when you get told off by your food.
@@MorgsMaintenance The food could have a hot temper

Good showing Beard. Knew those pancakes were going to be the tricky bit
You’re not wrong 😂

It's refreshing and I'm sure Adam wouldn't have it any other way
Beard, thanks for eating, so I can enjoy it vicariously through you.

I love the fact that John Farnham's 'The Voice's was playing as he finished the challenge.
And I really enjoyed seeing an Englishman doing a food challenge in the USA while Tom Schilling played in the background.
Their music is 80s clichée, in a good way.
Seeing beard enjoy the food and take his time is quite relaxing

I don't know if it was intentional but that was the perfect camera angle and hight
John Farnham playing in the back round. Bloody awsome 🇦🇺👌. Good job smashing another feed down.
"We're in the North, so I'm surprised there's biscuits and gravy" - just to clarify, WV is historically considered the South in the US, so biscuits and gravy IS appropriate.
It is? It owes its existence to separating from the South during the Civil War. But south of the Mason-Dixon line, it is true.
