What beautiful videos. I really enjoy all your train trips. Having been to Europe many times, travelling by train, bus, ship, and car, enjoying the train most of all. From Paris to Mannheim on the Orient Express, Mannheim to Muenich via the ICE, what an experience. Keep up the excellent work, your videos are most enjoyable.

Hi, your comment is really appreciated, my first European adventures were foreign exchange trips to France when I was at school. We'd catch the ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe, the train would be waiting on the dockside to take us to Paris, for our onward journey to Bourges where we would stay with a French family for a month. How I wish I'd had a decent camera back then. I think that is how I came to catch the travel bug, since then I have enjoyed many holidays to Europe both by train and coach. From your comment, it would appear we have a lot in common .... WOW ... "The Orient Express" I've never done that, although I caught a train in Yugoslavia, as it was then, going from Paris to Istanbul, it followed much of the route of the original "Orient Express" but it was full of scruffy young people wearing backpacks. I have travelled on the Chinese version of the ICE train, but I have yet to travel on an actual ICE train, although I am looking forward to start of direct trains from London to Germany next year using a version of the ICE train modified for use through the Channel Tunnel. Thanks again for your kind comment .... Tim.

Another GREAT video Tim! I drive Train Simulator thru some of this area, so I actually recognized some of the places in your film. And I finally got smart and followed your route in Google Earth, it was great fun to see your progress. My family and I visited north Scotland about 7 years ago, so I am looking forward to seeing that. Love all that you do Tim, thanks for your efforts and sharing with us, please continue!

Thank you Scott, I'd be lost without Google Earth. This trip was born out of a great deal that East Coast trains advertised on the internet - London to Edinburgh first class for £40. My wife looked up some hotel prices, there were plenty of good deals in January, then Scotrail have a special deal for over 55's - anywhere in Scotland return for £19, even Virgin managed a good deal, travelling first class from Glasgow to London Euston at just £55. Edinburgh is special even in winter, most things were open and there were no queues, I will publish the rest of our adventure as I edit it - plenty of snow too. Thanks again for your comment, it is appreciated.

I didn't manage to do the whole trip in one day .... on day one we traveled from Bognor Regis to Edinburugh where we spent a couple of days sightseeing, before carrying on to Wick. It's hard to believe the plane takes less than an hour to Inverness from Gatwick and it's cheaper than the train, but for me the train ride is part of the holiday.

Hello, cheers for the a cheeky comment, it's worked, I've looked at your Barnham videos, as a youngster I spent many happy hours at Barnham, Ford, Chichester, Bognor, and if I saved my pocket money I could get as far as Eastleigh or Brighton. It's good to see what's happening in the local area. I've subscribed to your channel for regular updates on the local train scene and I am really looking forward to one of my favourite trains returning to the main line - The Brighton Belle.

England Scotland border more interesting the Berwick side. Than the Gretna side.

"Yes" I agree, the ride from the border to Edinburgh is very scenic, much more so than the ride from York to Berwick.
