Haha you're not wrong-- there's definitely always some updates!! Stay tuned for a video coming out soon that will include some of those updates!! Regardless, you can always check out Disneyland's website when in doubt!!!
This is probably the best video I have recently seen on Disneyland. I haven’t been in about 5 yrs and so many things have changed. Your tips are really the best. Wish you’d make an updated version. Thanks and I’m sharing this!!
You have no idea how much this comment means to me. Thank YOU for being a subscriber. I just recently made an updated version for 2023, but also will be doing another very soon (with even more updates). I really appreciate you taking the time to say this and I'm so glad you've been tuning in. Thank you so much and please reach out if you have any questions!!!!! :)
Great Video and keep being a blessing to humans . please, Is there anyone here with the best ideas on how to utilize 40 thousand Dollars and can assure good returns from it? Any idea ...

I have watched a lot of vlogs about D-Land, but yours is absolutely THE best explanation about how to navigate your way through all the changes at the Park (and your intro was awesome)! I know the situation is pretty dynamic, but it helped explain why everyone was constantly looking at their phones! Very sad state of affairs, with no room for spontaneity I'm afraid.
K Fetter-- that seriously means a lot, as I take great pride with the quality of my content to make it not only fun, but applicable and understandable for everyone-- so thank you for saying that!!!!! I totally agree with you on the phone thing though... but I will say, as much as you use the app/your phone while in the parks, it's very easy to put it away and enjoy most of your day phone-free!! Just make a game plan with yourself and obviously use the app to check lines/order food/etc., but then put it in your pocket and forget about it. You can still be spontaneous, while also being efficient in the parks. Plus, nothing beats just the magic, the visuals and the sounds as you roam through the parks-- so keep it up!!! Thanks again for watching and please subscribe for future videos :)
Thank you! I haven’t been to Disney in over 21 years! And I’m excited to go again in just a few days! Just being there with the tips you’ve given will be awesome! Thanks again!
Dana!!!!! You're going to have a BLAST!!!! While some things have changed in the last 21 years, I hope you enjoy the nostalgic and classic Disneyland that you once visited, but with a little boost of new!! I'm glad my tips helped you out, and don't forget to get your boarding groups that morning. Have so much fun and thank you again :)
Hi Jake! Our family had such a wonderful time in Disneyland thanks to you! Because of this video we got into the virtual queue all three days! You are a hero to our family of 10 travelers, thank you. The only thing that went wrong was we missed our Star Wars boarding on the first day as we didn’t understand how that whole thing worked. Maybe you could go into a little more detail in your next video. Thank you so much, your video was far more useful than the many we watched in preparation for our trip. God bless!
Cheryl-- You have NO IDEA how much this means to me. I am SO HAPPY to hear that your family of 10 all got into the virtual queues-- THAT IS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!! I'm sorry that you missed the first round for Rise of the Resistance-- but hey, there's always day 2 and/or 3 right?! haha... I have been waiting anxiously for any new updates/reasons to make a new video, so I definitely will be considering doing that. THANK YOU SO MUCH for tuning in and seriously you have no clue how happy you made me reading this comment!!! Hope to see you and your family at the parks soon :)
I just wanted to tell you that your tips for rise of the resistance was amazing! We did it two times and we were successful both times!! This whole video was super informative and amazing!!! Thank you so so so much! :”)
Thank you so much Sam!!!!! I can't believe you were able to do it two times-- that's AMAZING!!! I hope my video made your day that much more efficient. Thanks again for the kind words and I hope you had fun at the park!! :)
thanks for phone tips very helpful. I watched your Need to Know 2022 as well. Don't know if you mentioned this in your updated video but it isn't clear whether virtual que/boarding group in something you should use now or if this was replaced with Lighting Lane. I will need to figure this out.
I follow quite a few Disney vloggers and this is my first video I’ve ever seen of yours. Wow! A breath of fresh air. Love the way you speak and the way you explain things. I am now a subscriber.
Michele & Chazz-- You just made my ENTIRE MONTH with this comment. That means more than you can imagine to me, as I'm trying so hard to make quality content (all while having fun in the process). It's so fulfilling to hear even just one person say they enjoyed my video. Thank you thank you thank you for saying this as it truly made me smile. I will be releasing a lot of fun things very shortly, so please stay tuned. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!! :)
This was the best video about Disneyland. Answered most of the questions which i was looking for. If possible in the next version try including some videos about which you are taking at that moment that will help.
@MyThoughtWork -- THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TUNING IN AND SAYING THAT!!!! I definitely will be releasing an updated version soon, and will be sure to include as much video coverage as I can-- that's a great idea!! Please subscribe and come back soon for the latest. Thanks again!!!!
My mom and dad are taking me and my sibling to Disney land on this Sunday to Friday! We are so excited! I was the one in charge of finding out tips and tricks! And this video was everything I needed! Thank you so much Jake!
Well Macy you came to the right place-- thank you so much for your kind words!!! I'm glad I was able to help you and your family out. Have so much fun!!!!! :)
Jake good morning. I’m very grateful for this video. You covered everything I needed to know. My husband and I are taking our 2 year old for the first time this December. We are excited and ecstatic to be back to the parks. We got engaged in 2017 at Disneyland and that’s the last time we visited. But now, we are going to experience the magic in a whole different way. Have a good one buddy !
Hi Lilliana!!!!! I'm SO HAPPY this video was able to help you out!!! You, your husband and your 2-year old are going to have SO MUCH FUN visiting the parks in December!!! The weather will be chilly at nights so don't forget to bring warm clothes for when the sun goes down!!! Getting engaged at Disneyland sounds like a dream!!! Please enjoy yourselves and subscribe here for some more updates coming soon in an upcoming video I have planned. Until then, let me know if you have any other questions and enjoy your holidays-- it's seriously the best there :)
This was such a great video! My wife and I are celebrating our 7 year wedding anniversary this coming Sunday and taking our 2 year old for the first time. We are really excited to be back and this video is making it so much easier for us!
WOW!!!! This is THE BEST Wedding Anniversary EVER-- Congratulations Ronald (and Wifey)!! I hope you guys have so much fun and your 2-year old enjoys their first trip!! PLEASE practice everything I mentioned and because you're going on a weekend try and get there AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE so you can truly maximize your day!! If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out and don't forget to subscribe to this channel so you can get additional updates (if any) in the future. Have so much fun Ronald and thank you again for watching!!! :)
My mom and dad are taking me and my siblings to Disney on Sunday to Friday! We are so excited and I was in charge of finding out the tips and tricks! And this video is everything! Thank you so much Jake!
WOW!!! This is BY FAR the most helpful video! I'm going with my girlfriend this coming weekend (Saturday Disneyland. Sunday DCA). It'll be my first time in TWENTY YEARS going to Disneyland. All this info, from getting on the virtual que to parking, are incredibly helpful. And I appreciate the update on Maxpass. I had looked up a couple Disneyland videos and they talked about paying an extra $10 or to be able to reserve your spot at different rides. I was looking forward to doing that but it's good to know that currently I can't and instead have to rely on the ol "Stand in line" method.
Thank you SO MUCH Hersh!!! 20 years later-- WOW, it's going to be a totally different experience (in ALL THE BEST WAYS!!!) Sorry to break it to you on the MaxPass stuff, but I'm sure you're going to be able to do a lot-- as it's a GREAT time to go right now (before the Disney Magic Keys come out!!). Have SO MUCH FUN and don't forget to practice so you can get your boarding group for Rise of the Resistance (for Saturday) and Webslingers (on Sunday)!!!
I returned to Disneyland in June 2021 for the first time in 20 years. Returned August 28 for three days. I am going to Oogie Boogie this month and back in December 2021 for the holidays.
Mahalo for this comment-- I LOVE Hawaii and haven't been back in years. I'm so glad this helped you and your family out. Please make sure to see the most recent update to this video (the 2022 version) and If there's anything else you need, feel free to reach out!! Leʻaleʻa kāu a the parks!!!!! :)
YAY!!! So glad I could help!! DEFINITELY check out my latest video that includes a FULL LIST OF UPDATES to this video. It's everything you need to know before going in 2022!! Thanks for watching and have so much fun when you visit :)
thank you so much for this!! my bestfriend and i are going this october (as a halloween lover i'm so excited) and i haven't been to the park in a very long time. thanks for the tips :))
S.M. -- October is my FAVORITE month to go (I'm a big Halloween lover too lol)!!! You guys are gonna have so much fun. I'm glad I was able to help you out :)
Surrey!!! Thank YOU so much for saying this. I have many videos coming soon (currently editing) so you will definitely be seeing more!!! I appreciate you sharing the love and I'm so glad you stumbled across my channel!!!! :)
Why has it become so complicated? Used to be able to walk in the park and stand in line and be on a ride in a reasonable time period! This is CRAZY that you have to use your phone for EVERYTHING!! So much for RELAXING and enjoying your time!! Thank you for the info. Jake. I had NO IDEA it had come to this!!
It can definitely feel like a lot at first and very overwhelming, but I promise the more you become familiar with this new system-- the more it all makes sense!! I'm glad I was able to help you out Elyse!!!
Dr. Stupignan-- WELCOME!!! Thank you so much for tuning in-- your comment means a lot. I actually just posted an updated version to this video for all things you need to know in 2022. DEFINITELY check it out because a lot of things have changed!! Regardless, thank you seriously so much for subscribing and watching :)
Thank you Andrew!!! So I actually have some new updates that include the virtual queue system in my latest video for 2022. DEFINITELY check it out, as a lot of things have changed!! Regardless, thank you so much for watching :)
4:23 Turning off Bluetooth is such a bad tip. That’s how smart watches are connected to your phone. Just bring a portable battery and charge it as you’re walking.
I couldn't agree more Marielle!! We have to be realistic and also know that the cast members are doing the best they can given everything going on (and they doing an excellent job too!!) Thanks for watching and please subscribe to see more stuff I have planned in the future!! Thanks again :)
Jerrilyn-Joy THANK YOU SO MUCH :) I can't wait for you to head back to the parks!! DEFINITELY check out my latest video about what you need to know in 2022-- as a lot has changed since 2021!! Regardless, if you have any further questions before your next trip, you know who to reach out to!! Thanks again for watching!!!
I’m so grateful for your video. Thank you, Jake. Got my tickets last year, finally made a reservation. I’ll definitely study the app to make sure I’ll be able to use it when necessary. Hopefully I’ll be ready to act fast to use the virtual queue. It sounded super stressful 😂 But I’m so excited!!! 🥳
YES AIZHAN!!!!! I'm so grateful FOR YOU for saying this and I'm so glad you got tickets and a reservation!! I promise the app comes easier than you think as soon as you play around with it for a bit. As far as the virtual queue, don't be stressed-- it's just as easy!! Plus, who knows, the system might be updated by the time you visit!! Please check back here for updates as we move forward and let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you again!!! :)
Thank you Kevin!! Christmas is going to be so fun-- I'm jealous!! Take care and be sure to come back for additional (if any) updates before your trip!!!
Excellent video Jake! As a Disneyland fan who gets lots of questions about the parks from my friends and family I totally agree with your suggestions. I always appreciate detailed videos like this that put so much information into one place! Plus the intro at the start was 🔥
YES!!!! Thank you so much for saying that Eric-- I totally agree, and I'm always trying to input as much detail as possible without making it too overwhelming or confusing haha... As far as the intro, I'm glad you enjoyed-- it was the VERY FIRST thing I filmed!!! :)
I was lucky enough to get the CA resident 3 day Park ticket and managed to get onto Rise of the Resistance on both Day 1 and 2 at Disneyland and Web Slingers on the last day at California Adventure. I always joined the Virtual Queue at 7am at my hotel Room (which has great WiFi) while setting an alarm reminder at 6:50am on my phone so I wouldn't forget! It was absolutely awesome. The parks were empty as school had already began that I got to ride on the Incredi-Coaster and Guardians of the Galaxy ride, 5 times each. I even got selfies with a lot of characters. The App was extremely helpful and I would strongly and I mean strongly suggest people download or update the app and play around with it the day before they go.
YES!!!!!! I LOVE hearing this Josh-- glad you were able to get both boarding groups!!!! It's all about the dedication and getting up early, as well as practicing before the "big day" haha... Glad I could be of some help and happy to hear you had a great time :)
THANK YOU for this video!!!!! I'm taking my first trip to Disneyland in October and I'm driving to the park. (Visiting from Canada, renting a car, first time driving in the states!) So the parking segment was genuinely so helpful. Brb gonna binge all your videos now...
AHHHH October is MY FAVORITE time of year to visit the parks-- you're gonna have SO MUCH FUN!!!! Be sure to check back here in the next few weeks, we have a lot more videos coming!!! Thank you for watching :)
Thank YOU for saying this Amanda-- that means so much to hear, and I'm so glad I could be of help. You're gonna have sooo much fun!!!!! Stay tuned for more and thanks again for this comment :)
YAY!!! I'm excited for you guys!! Please stay tuned and check back for additional updates once you get closer to your trip. Thank you Melick Adventures!!!
Thank YOU William!!!! You and your wife are gonna have so much fun. Be sure to get their as early as you can this particular weekend only because of the flux of everyone starting off with their new Magic Keys!! Regardless, please enjoy and thanks again :)
Gemma-- I totally can understand. However, there actually has been quite a few updates since 2021 and the virtual queue is virtually gone!! (or at least varies day by day depending on if it's needed). For now, it's standby and you can use the new lightning lane system if you want to upgrade!! I talk about all of this in my latest video for 2022-- DEFINITELY check it out because a lot has changed since! Regardless, thank you for watching :)
Juan-- THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I hope you had fun and were able to do everything you wanted. Halloween is the best time at the parks, so you picked a good time to go!!!!
THANK YOU-- I'm so glad it helped you out!!! I hope your trip is awesome and be sure to check back here (and on the park's website) for future updates!!!! :)
Meeting up with my best friend for the first time in 4 years and going to hangout at DisneyLand! Thx for the video bro, gonna be studying up on your vids for sure haha
YES!!!!!! You're gonna have so much fun-- especially after 4 years... Definitely be practicing and stay up to date, and let me know how your day went when you go!!!!!! Thanks Cole!!!
Dude! This video was incredible! You can feel your passion for getting the most of your time at the park! I’m now a subscriber!! Thank you! Heading to the parks in Oct for Oogie Boogie and a few days at both parks! Now I just have to figure out how to get a character dining reservations - the minute they opened up, they were sold out. Regardless, I’m still so excited to be going to the parks and the tips you shared were awesome!!!
Linda THANK YOU SO MUCH for saying all of this!! It means a lot and I'm glad you are excited to head to the park with some of my tips!! Keep looking for spots to open up for dining reservations and make sure to see a cast member the day of-- you never know, sometimes you can get lucky!! Thanks again and have SO MUCH FUN :)
I'm commenting 2 months after first watching this video FROM DISNEYLAND and can I just say thank you so much for this video, the info helped me a lot today!!!
...and I am commenting 4 months after seeing this comment hahaha! I am so sorry for the late reply on this Liz, but I am SO HAPPY you were able to have a great time. You have no idea what this means to me when I get to hear from people like you. A lot of work goes into making these and I appreciate it more than you know. Please continue following my latest updates (I made an updated version for 2023 with another one coming in a few weeks) and seriously THANK YOU again for saying all of this!!!!! :)
So, when I went to Disney World, in order to get a boarding group for Rise of the Resistance, I had two phones sitting in front of me, mine and my brother’s. Mine was the one with the Disneyworld app, and his, I had an atomic clock running on. This gave me the precision to reliably get a boarding group twice during our trip. So, atomic clock, sounds crazy, but worked really well for me
THANK YOU SO MUCH GREG!!! You'll be happy to know there is now an UPDATED version of this video that I just posted on my channel!! DEFINITELY take a look at it, because a lot of things have changed since 2021. As far as DL Crowds in February-- that is a very good time to go! My advice would be to just avoid Valentine's Day, and if possible, try and go mid-week!! Enjoy and thank you for watching :)
Hi Helen! So this entire system has now been updated! I posted a video about this the other day (the "2022" version to this very video). Basically virtual queues now vary, and standby will be the most common form (like every other ride!). But to answer your question, at the time, YES you could have joined the virtual queue from anywhere! Take a watch on the latest video that I mentioned, because there's a ton of updates that I don't want you to miss out on! Thanks for watching :)
I know things are changing all the time but this was still soooo helpful! I've been to WDW a million times but so excited to see DL again. I grew up there but haven't been there since I was a kid.
Susan thank you so much for saying that. I hope your adventure (or should I say... HOMECOMING!!!) is full of nostalgia and you are able to do everything you want!!! Have soooo much fun and take lots of pictures!!! :)
I have the Disneyland app, four 1 park per day tickets, and made reservations on February 23rd Disney California Adventure and March 6th visiting Disneyland park. 1. Any tips for a casual Star Wars and marvel fan visiting these parks with 3-4 others? 2. Any tips about walk in reservations for Oga’s cantina in March? 3. Could I ride Rise of the Resistance twice when using Lightning Lane for one of those ride-throughs in one visit? 4. Will I be allowed to record, from my iPhone, two or so Star Wars rides and line queues at Disneyland as a fun Star Wars-like one off TH-cam vlog, or is that not allowed if I may ask? Finally, 5. How early should I arrive with 3 others to Disneyland during early march? Any info/tips/successions will be appreciated m. Thank so much! Also, can’t wait for avengers campus characters, some rides, food and the galaxies edge experience as a whole! 😁👍👍😎
Hey Burmhaven!! This is so exciting I'm happy you get to visit both parks with your friends!! As far as answering your questions... 1. My greatest tip for Star Wars/Marvel is just to get there AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. These are the most popular attractions/areas of both parks, so if you are able to wake up extra early it will make a HUGE difference! 2. Oga's Cantina I've definitely gotten lucky before on walk-ins, but expect to wait a long time (if at all) and try and go during a random time (when it opens or right before it closes) 3.) For Rise you can ONLY ride it ONCE per day if you were just relying on a Lightning Lane. However, if you do standby AND get a lightning lane you can do it twice (or as many times as you want theoretically just through standby)!! 4.) You DEF can record the entire time as long as you follow their instructions when boarding and you don't have large cameras/equipment-- but on a phone you will be totally good to go!! 5.) Honestly as far as arriving, I always say it's so worth waking up extra early just to get there before everyone!! Because March is the beginning of Spring Break, you will be competing against those crowds, so I would just plan to get there ASAP!! If you can arrive 1-hour BEFORE the parks open, that will totally maximize your day all together!! It's so worth I promise. HAVE SO MUCH FUN and thank you SO MUCH for watching!! Please consider subscribing to my channel if you haven't already for future videos and updates!! Thanks again and enjoy :)
@@JakeatthePark thank you for all the recommendations! Really helps to plan ahead for 3-4 others and I. I’m so excited to bring them along on these trips. I just hope everything turns out well on arrival for these 2 visits. Much appreciated and I’m glad to have watched your videos along with giving a like to them as well. 😁 I’ll keep these facts in mind during my trip. Have a great rest of your day and I definitely look forward to making a custom SW-style V-log/Data-log during my time at Battu as well. I really can’t thank you enough!!!! 😎🙏😁👍👍
YAY!!!! So glad to hear this Sara!!! I hope I was able to help you become familiar with this new process. If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out. You're gonna have a blast!!! When do you plan on visiting Disneyland?!
I'm sorry to hear that :/ The good news is, Disneyland has finally updated this system to standby (with boarding passes potentially available depending on the crowds). In the mean time, you can also now reserve your spot in line without the rush and flux of people on the app, by using the upgraded lightning lane! I just posted a new video that includes ALL of this info and a ton of UPDATES to this video on my channel. DEFINITELY check it out, as a lot of stuff has changed. Regardless, you'll get it next time and I truly appreciate your nice comment :) Thanks for watching!!
Thank you for the detailed video! When ordering food on the app, do you have to physically be at the park to be able to do this- or can we have our meals preordered for the day before we head to Disney?
Hi Ashley!!! Thank YOU for tuning in and for such a nice compliment!!! So as far as mobile ordering goes, you actually do not have to physically be at the parks to order! However, you can't order any further than the day you plan on being there. I will say though that because standby lines have recently made a come back at a lot of the restaurants/food carts in the parks-- mobile ordering has been a little faster! Just give yourself a 1-hour window and you should be able to order almost anything your heart desires!!! If you have any further questions please let me know, and please subscribe for some updates I plan on releasing about this (and more) soon!!! Thank you so much and have so much fun when you go :)
You are so welcome and thank YOU for watching!! So this depends, but typically I've noticed Tuesdays/Wednesdays are not as busy (mostly because everyone is back at work). Regardless, if you make a point to get to the park 30-45 minutes before it opens-- you should be able to accomplish everything you want to do in a single day!! Just make sure to avoid the holidays and peak days and the park will definitely be less crowded. Hope this helps!!!!
Hey Jazlynn!! So this question gets asked a lot. Basically Disney still technically has the boarding group system ready to go if for whatever reason all else fails in the world of Genie/Genie+, BUT, they pretty much NEVER use it. Your best bet would be to assume that the Boarding Group system is totally demolished (and rely on either standby or purchasing an individual Lightning Lane through Genie+) and to just follow up on any updates once you get closer to the date you're going!! Again, while there is no guarantees, it's very unlikely that you will have to rely on the boarding group system for Rise of the Resistance anymore. I hope this helps answer your question and enjoy your time when you go!!! Please subscribe to my channel for future updates and new videos and thank you so much for stopping by :)
Thank you so much for making this video! I love all these tips and making my notes right now. If I have people trying to join the virtual boarding using two phones, and we have the hop ticket, would you suggest at 7am we join a different queue, or we should aim at one queue? We are going to start at the adventure park. Thank you in advance! :)
Hi Weiwen!!! So DEFINITELY just aim for one virtual boarding group at a time. They typically sell out fairly quickly each morning. But... there's good news for you!!! Webslingers has just very recently been pushed to standby lines (so you won't need a boarding group for it!!). While they may implement the boarding group system from time to time, it should mostly be standby lines for that ride, so all you have to worry about is getting a boarding group for Rise of the Resistance!! Please re-watch and practice what I mentioned in this video so you can get that boarding group for Rise!!! I'll have a few update videos (and more) coming soon, so don't forget to subscribe to my channel!! Have so much fun-- I hope you guys get your boarding groups!!!! :)
Just came from this week the 4th Thru the 8th, there are many many many many bugs Disney needs to work out with this app system. We had a great time but the fact that people can book things up way in advance of even coming here is kind of crap. The one major thing was having to get up at 6 in the morning to try to get a spot on Rise of the Rebellion, only to find out you got a spot in line that you get to stand in for another few hours, not get you on the ride immediately with the reservation period but all in all except for the shuttle bus driver, the staff was absolutely amazing. Just learned for our next trip in February going to need to tweak a few things before we go. All-in-all do an amazing time and my granddaughters first trip.
I totally feel ya on the advance bookings in some respects throughout the park-- like the restaurants are typically fully booked 60 days in advance and it can be so frustrating if you're not planning way in advance... The virtual queue can be rough too, but the good news is, is that it at least gives you time from when you get it, to then get to the parks (if you were doing it from home for instance). Regardless, I'm so glad you and your granddaughters had a great first trip, and let me know if you have questions in February!!!!
That is no problem! Whoever is available to be scanned in can come into the park(s), and the remaining family members can do it on their own phone(s) OR you can meet just them at the entrance and scan them in when they arrive!
Rise of the Resistance is at Disneyland!! As far as "kid friendly" is sorta depends on the kid lol... There's a lot of movement, loud sounds and lights, but it's not scary or very dark. It's really fun and verrrrryyy immersive-- I would think most 8-year olds would really enjoy it unless they get nervous easily.
@@JakeatthePark gotcha so maybe not my toddler 🤔 we’ll see 😄 thanks so much for all your tips I need to get more familiar with the app for sure. Hopefully we get to try those new rides 👏
I needed my Bluetooth for my Fitbit watch. I always have power banks (Anker brand). The 12pm slot for the boarding group must be done from within the park. The 7am slots can be done from your hotel bedroom. Most cast members will ask you to put on masks when going inside buildings or on rides.
As long as they are legitimate park tickets you can definitely link them up!! You just need the number and/or scanable barcode on the back of each ticket and you should be good to go!!
Thank you Jake. I'm about to take my kids as well myself back to Disneyland August 12th I hope. Last time we all been was when they were 2 and 1. Now they are 10 and 9 and are very excited to be going back. These tips were very helpful especially the parking which I'm sure we all really fear most (atleast I do since I will be driving 2+ hours away.
So glad I could help you out-- you and your kids are gonna have so much fun!!!!! Parking is definitely something you wanna be prepped on, so I'm glad you're filled on that end. Make sure to check out Disneyland's website the night before in case of any updates/changes, but most importantly... ENJOY THE PARKS!!!
NO WAY!!! Well I'm so glad to be of help on your trip this week!! Just remember, the only update (since the posting of this video) is that masks are required to be worn when indoors. Other than that, everything pretty much should be the same!!! You're gonna have a blast and I'm jealous of your back to back adventure. Thank you for watching, have so much fun and let me know how your 2-days go!!!!
@@JakeatthePark WOW, I can't begin to thank you enough for this video!!! The day before I left, I tried a practice run to join a boarding group, and I'm so glad I did. At 7:00:01 am I was able to join and had to scan the QR codes on the park reservations for myself and my travel companion, to link our accounts. By the time I was finished scanning and linking, the queue was closed. The next day, driving down from Modesto, I opened the app at 6:58 and kept refreshing the screen until 7:00:01 and I was able to join (my accounts were still linked) and my group was 82. I tried again at 7:01 and the virtual queue was closed. I joined the same way the next day at 7:00:01 and my group was 120. Using the app to order food was really easy and by the time I reached the dining location, my orders were ready. Blue Bayou is booked through December, however I was able to get a table by asking the host VERY nicely if they were allowing walk-ups. He took my cell number and said he'd text if anything was available - one minute later I received a text saying my table was ready. After a FANTASTIC meal, leaving the Blue Bayou, I thanked our host over and over again and told him it was wonderful to be back and the meal was excellent. Then I overheard some other people asking if walk-ups were allowed, and he told them "I'm sorry, we're completely booked up until December" - that made me feel extremely special. The park was so clean and everyone, cast members and guests, were extremely nice. I made it a point to say "welcome back" to every cast member I passed and of course, "thank you and have a great day" when exiting an attraction. It brought big, mask covered smiles, to everyone I said it to. And speaking of smiles, I made a cast member break character in Rise of the Resistance. She temporarily lost her mean stone face and smiled. During my first boarding, the attraction broke down and we were escorted out and given a past pass. I briefly spoke to a cast member inside the attraction and she said it breaks down often, just be sure to get a fast pass. The second attempt, it broke down again, and I spoke to the same cast member who apologized and I laughed and said "hey it's not your fault" so I get another fast pass. On the third attempt, I made it all the way through. After being escorted through the ship with all the storm troopers in it, I saw her again, gave her a thumbs up and said "yay! I made it. Third time's a charm. Thank you and have a great day" - she smiled and gave me thumps up, then immediately went back to stone face. That's the only attraction where the cast members are not allowed to smile. The refurbished Jungle Cruise is great. I miss Trader Sam and the headhunters, but it's still a great adventure. I made sure to see the movie two weeks ago to compare the similarities. So yes, I had way too much fun and can't wait until I go again in March - or as soon as the Haunted Mansion loses the holiday overlay and the Monorail is running. Sorry this was so long. I'm just a little kid at heart stuck inside a 59 year-old body. Thank you so much!!!!
THIS JUST MADE MY WEEK!!!! I am SO HAPPY to hear that you were able to get a boarding group (even if it took a few times to actually complete the ride itself--haha!). It sounds like you had an incredible time and even got to eat at the Blue Bayou in under 5 minutes-- THAT in it of itself is amazing!!! Thank you so much for all your kind words and I am so happy to hear that it all went really well. Come March I hope everything is that much better, and in the mean time I'll try and keep you updated on any changes. Thanks again and remember... we are ALL KIDS AT HEART!!!!
@@JakeatthePark You made my trip an extremely magical dream come true!!! Now that I'm home, to help with the "Disneyland Withdrawal Syndrome" I have the Magic Candle Company's "Pirate Life" scent filling the house. It helps to take the edge off of returning to reality. I hadn't heard of Magic Candle Company until I watched your video review (posted on Oct 3, 2020) a few weeks ago, after which I bought 3 oils, and they were delivered shortly before my trip. Thanks again, your videos are brilliant and incredibly helpful. Note: The Disney resort hotels were not yet open when I booked my trip so I stayed at the Castle Inn & Suites and was quite impressed with the hotel. The staff was so friendly, my room was very clean and the place is quiet!!! They did a good job upgrading this old gem of a hotel and the ambiance really added a lot to my short vacation. It's wonderful to see this original good-neighbor hotel still standing. Cheers!!!
This video is one of the most helpful/great tips. This video got me to subscribe. 👍 Can you one for Universal studios and once the new genie system launches? Thank you!!
Ruiza-- Hearing you say this truly means the world and is all the reason why I started this channel in the first place. Thank YOU so much for saying this and I hope it truly helps you the next time you visit. Funny enough, I'm a HUGE Universal fan (visiting that park more so than I did Disneyland as a kid-- shhhh!!), so that might not be a bad idea to do a video in the future!! I'm keeping track of this Genie system and waiting for it lock down it's new system kinks, but you will definitely be seeing a video very soon. Again, thank you so much for your comment and I hope to see you one day at the park!!!! :)
Hi Darith!! For Disneyland and Disney California Adventure-- boarding groups can only be made on the DAY OF your reservation at the specific times I mentioned in the video. This may slightly change with the addition of the Genie program they just introduced, but for now boarding groups are still only able to be made the day of.
Hi Jake, Thank you for such insightful video. Kindly advise, if me and my friends are planning to visit both Disney and Universal, how many days you'd suggest to spend in both? TIA
Hi Sara and thank you so much!! So this totally depends on what you're trying to accomplish!! If you're looking to hit everything and ride as much as you can, a 1 or 2-day park hopper should help accomplish this! But if you're more looking for a casual trip for the day, then a single day should be good! As far as Universal goes, you definitely just need one day to accomplish the entire park and you should be good to go!! Let me know if you have any further questions and don't forget to take a look at my latest video for 2022 that includes a TON OF UPDATES!! Thanks for watching :)
YES!!!! You're gonna have a blast Dustin!! Just keep in mind, the only update (since the posting of this video) is the mask requirements when inside. Other than that, it should all be pretty much the same. Enjoy your day at the park!!!!
Thank you so much for this video! It’s so helpful! A quick question about the app regarding boarding passes… can two people be signed in to the same account or would it be better to have separate accounts with our tickets linked to both?
Great video! What’s the best cadence of rides to take if you have 1-2 kids for California Adventure vs Disneyland? Can you wait in front of the Disney parking as early as 1 hour before they open?
Hey Pete!!! Great question. So it definitely is contingent on the day(s) & time(s) you go-- however, what I've noticed is typically the e-ticket attractions as well as some of the classics typically have longer waits from mid-morning to late afternoon, and then it's sorta luck of the draw from there as you head into the evening. It's also your own preference, as there is no wrong decision when it comes to rides! My personal suggestion for Disneyland (with your kids) is to hit the Fantasyland rides as soon as you get in (Peter Pan & Snow White), and then head towards Pirates & Haunted. For DCA, Radiator Springs is DEFINITELY the longest line typically, so I would either start your day with it or end with it (I prefer ending it towards the sunset-- it's SO BEAUTIFUL to see Cars Land with all the lights on). But definitely checking out Soarin', Little Mermaid and stopping by the Animation Academy too!! As far as arriving early for parking... They typically allow people to start lining up/parking an hour (or more) before hand so you should be good to go with that! Hope this all helps-- enjoy your trip and don't forget to subscribe for more updates in the future!! Thank you :)
Thank you for saying that!!! It can be overwhelming and there's definitely a lot of phone-related stuff we can't seem to get away from lately, but at the end of the day, it's all about just enjoying your day at the park!!!!!!
Hi Giselle!! So as far as boarding groups go, you can ONLY get them the DAY OF. However, as of very recent, Webslingers has been made into standby (so you won't need one for it)!! There are times where boarding groups may occur for that specific ride, but for now the only ride that you'll have to worry about getting a boarding group for (THE MORNING/DAY OF) is Rise of the Resistance!! Re-watch my video and practice practice practice, and you should be good to go!! Also, please subscribe for more updates to be posted soon. Thanks for watching :)
Hi Melissa-- I appreciate you saying that!! This is a great question. Because I, myself, have never taken a shuttle from the airport-- I don't personally have any recommendations. BUT! On Disneyland's website (disneyland.disney.go.com/guest-services/getting-here/by-plane/) it looks like they have an entire page dedicated to transportation from LA/Orange County's airports!! From doing a little research though, it seems like you can shuttle from LAX to Disneyland for under $20-- which is a great deal!! Take a look at all of this, and let me know if there's any other questions you have/anything I can do to help!! :)
Went to Disneyland for the first time in 15 years and tripped out that the app was so important and didn't know how much of the app I was gonna need to use.
This was so helpful! My husband and I will be taking our 6 and 8 year old (this will be their 2nd time) this upcoming Tuesday 11/9! Hoping the lines arn’t crazy long going mid-week. We are super excited, haven’t been to Disneyland in about 3 years.
Brenda!!! I am so happy to hear about your trip!! I don't think the lines will be too bad this time of year, however with the tree now up, it may bring more guests. Regardless, it's going to be such a beautiful time and you guys are going to have so much fun!!! Thank you for watching and please subscribe to the channel for future updates. Enjoy!!!!!! :)
Hey James-- at first it totally does, but I promise once you walk into the park (especially after understanding the basics) it clicks very quickly and it's super easy to make your way around the parks efficiently. Please consider subscribing to my channel for new videos and future updates and if you have any questions before you go, I can def help you along the way!! Thanks again for watching :)
Currently, Disneyland is not checking for any proof of vaccination before entering the parks. You just need a mask for when indoors and you're good to go! I talk about this (and a lot of NEW UPDATES) in my latest video for 2022-- check it out on my channel so you're all up to speed, and thanks for watching :)
Hi Sparkled Sweets!!! Unfortunately nothing has currently changed with the exception of masks being required when indoors (as of now). This includes fastpass/maxpass as well, and we are still stuck waiting in standby (or single rider) lines like the good 'ol days before they even existed. Hope this helps and thank you for watching!!!
I feel like things are changing so quickly that we need a weekly version of this video right now 😂
Haha you're not wrong-- there's definitely always some updates!!

@@JakeatthePark you make me smile! God bless sweetheart! We will be going back in 5 years and will ONLY take advice from you Dear One! God Bless :)
This was so incredibly helpful thank you!
I'm so glad I could help Brittany!!! Hope you have a fun trip :)

Mahalo so much! for sharing, it will help me and my Ohana first time to Disney.

Great video! It’s the first time that I’m on your channel and you got yourself a new subscriber, mister.
Dr. Stupignan-- WELCOME!!! Thank you so much for tuning in-- your comment means a lot. I actually just posted an updated version to this video for all things you need to know in 2022.
very clear instruction about virtual Q. we plan to go there this Christmas, can't wait. this video is super useful. thank you Jack!

So, atomic clock, sounds crazy, but worked really well for me
thank you for this !! this was so helpful (:
Thank You Denise-- Hope you have so much fun during your visit!!!!!!
Thanks for the great information! I am looking forward to going soon!

Thanks for your video! One question. Can we join the virtual queue outside the park? The Disneyland park opens at 8:00am.
Great video!! A lot of helpful tips and things I didn’t know! Keep it up 👍🏼 thank you!
Thank YOU Chelsea for saying that!!! I hope I can be of some help to you. When are you going to the parks next?!
Thanks for the tips on the boarding groups!! Fingers crossed we can get on ROTR
Fingers crossed Jeremy-- hope you get 'em!!!!!
These tips are really helpful for people who have not been to Disneyland in a while...or at all! Thanks!
With so many new ways of doing things, it's so different for any Disney fan. Hope this all helped!!!!
Thanks for the tips
Anything for you Princess Leia-- I appreciate you taking care of our galaxy (and for watching)!! :)
This was so helpful thank you 😎
So glad that this helped-- thank YOU, Danny!!! Have fun and enjoy the next time you go!!!!!
2. Oga's Cantina I've definitely gotten lucky before on walk-ins, but expect to wait a long time (if at all) and try and go during a random time (when it opens or right before it closes)
3.) For Rise you can ONLY ride it ONCE per day if you were just relying on a Lightning Lane.
Well done, good tips and no fluff.
Thank you Adrian!!!!!!!
Im going the summer for the first time and i am way exited
FIRST TIME?!?! Ahhh that's the best!!! Well make sure to freshen up on everything and check for updates. You're gonna have an AMAZING time!!!! :)
Thank you! I’m planning my first visit to Disneyland this year.
YAY!!!! So glad to hear this Sara!!! I hope I was able to help you become familiar with this new process. If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out. You're gonna have a blast!!! When do you plan on visiting Disneyland?!
Great video, I appreciate all the tips.
Well I appreciate YOU Dani!!! Thanks for the comment!!!
Thanks Jake! Great content. I had two phones and did not get in.😩
I'm sorry to hear that :/ The good news is, Disneyland has finally updated this system to standby (with boarding passes potentially available depending on the crowds).
@@JakeatthePark Good to know, thank you!
Thank you for the tips!! What day of the week would you recommend, when is it not as busy for Disneyland?
You are so welcome and thank YOU for watching!! So this depends, but typically I've noticed Tuesdays/Wednesdays are not as busy (mostly because everyone is back at work). Regardless, if you make a point to get to the park 30-45 minutes before it opens-- you should be able to accomplish everything you want to do in a single day!! Just make sure to avoid the holidays and peak days and the park will definitely be less crowded. Hope this helps!!!!
Just Booked my tickets for a tuesday!!
We went 2 weeks ago on a Wednesday and had a blast!! It was a bit busy but it was an awesome experience!
do we need a boarding pass for ride of the resistance in 2022? im going in february 2022 and i want to prepare!
@@JakeatthePark This is great! Will definitely check them out!!!
This was very helpful. Thank you. What if you have all your party linked to a group to scan to go into the park, but not all your party is there?
That is no problem! Whoever is available to be scanned in can come into the park(s), and the remaining family members can do it on their own phone(s) OR you can meet just them at the entrance and scan them in when they arrive!
Such a helpful video! Thank you!
I'm so glad I can be of help-- enjoy!!! :)
Is rise of the resistance at Disneyland or dca ? Is it kid friendly? Like for a 8 year old ?
Power banks definitely are a must for me too!!!
What if we get tickets from another source? Can I link the tickets to the app?
Thank you so much for this brilliant video. I will be there on Monday and Tuesday (8-16 & 8-17) and your video is tremendously helpful!!!
Hey Jake so do we have to do this boarding on the of the event or days prior too?
Hi Darith!! For Disneyland and Disney California Adventure-- boarding groups can only be made on the DAY OF your reservation at the specific times I mentioned in the video. This may slightly change with the addition of the Genie program they just introduced, but for now boarding groups are still only able to be made the day of.
@@JakeatthePark thank you for that info appreciate it!🥰
Do need the app if your an international person?
This video was uploaded the day I went. Interesting.
Hope you had fun!!!!!
Hi Jake,
Thank you for such insightful video.
Going to DCA tomorrow and loved the vid!
YES!!!! You're gonna have a blast Dustin!! Just keep in mind, the only update (since the posting of this video) is the mask requirements when inside. Other than that, it should all be pretty much the same. Enjoy your day at the park!!!!
Hi! Which park would you recommend going - if we are only going for one. The DCA or Disney Land Park?
Hi Tan!!!! While they are both amazing parks (in their own ways) I would highly suggest visiting Disneyland if I had to choose one park!!!!
Thank you so much for this video! It’s so helpful!
A quick question about the app regarding boarding passes… can two people be signed in to the same account or would it be better to have separate accounts with our tickets linked to both?
Hi Renee-- thank you for saying that :) I replied to your question/comment from earlier-- let me know if you have any further questions!!!!!!
Appreciated the perspective at the end because the rest of it sounds like work-like stress and being glued to the phone screen.
Thank you for saying that!!! It can be overwhelming and there's definitely a lot of phone-related stuff we can't seem to get away from lately, but at the end of the day, it's all about just enjoying your day at the park!!!!!!
are we able to join a boarding group for the rides a couple days before? or it can only be done the day of??
Hi Giselle!! So as far as boarding groups go, you can ONLY get them the DAY OF. However, as of very recent, Webslingers has been made into standby (so you won't need one for it)!! There are times where boarding groups may occur for that specific ride, but for now the only ride that you'll have to worry about getting a boarding group for (THE MORNING/DAY OF) is Rise of the Resistance!! Re-watch my video and practice practice practice, and you should be good to go!! Also, please subscribe for more updates to be posted soon. Thanks for watching :)
Great video! Very helpful! Do you know anything about shuttles to & from LAX to Disneyland? Any recommendations?
15 years?! Wow-- so much has changed since you've last gone... I hope you had so much fun (besides any overwhelming feelings from the app)!!
Enjoy!!!!!! :)
Does Disneyland use the same fingerprint scanners at Disney World?
Lots of good info. Thanks.
Thank you Chris-- glad I could be of some help!!!!!!!!
@@JakeatthePark firing up the extra phone batteries. ;).
@@chrishintz1077 You can never have too many extra batteries!! haha
Great guide, but boy does this make it sound like a lot of work to 'enjoy' your day.
Are they checking vaccine status at Disneyland? Or checking for covid tests?
Currently, Disneyland is not checking for any proof of vaccination before entering the parks. You just need a mask for when indoors and you're good to go! I talk about this (and a lot of NEW UPDATES) in my latest video for 2022-- check it out on my channel so you're all up to speed, and thanks for watching :)
Has anything that you know of changed as far as fast passes or guidelines currently ? Thank you for all the info
