I know Tekken never has legacy characters die, but we've gotten to a point now where we literally watch someone watch them die, and they still come back from the dead.
To be fair, we were at that point all the way back in Tekken 4, when Kazuya's body was reconstructed after also being tossed in a volcano at the end of 3.
Idk I mean I will say at least they created a decent reasoning as to why he was alive.. because he never actually died, he was saved on the way down by a secret society of monks all training using his fighting style that he didn’t even know about… sounds pretty Tekken to me haha idk all things considered I thought it was a smart way to bring him back without it being too corny, or farfetched
Hahaha I remember laughing my ass off when this happened. This and Jin throwing his bike on the heliopter + Steve dodging the bullets thanks to his boxing skills were the silliest but funniest shits they ever did HAHAHAHAHA
I guess that means: 1. Either Reina lied to Lydia about the Tekken Monks seeing the Mishimas as a threat (for what end? I'm not sure). Or... 2. The Tekken Monks had ulterior motives when they "saved" Heihachi. Maybe they didn't actually save him but wanted to use him instead (I think this theory is more likely. I don't trust the guys who rely on "fear toxin" and "dark magic" to mess with people's mind). There are even theories that the Tekken Monks messed up Heihachi's memory in the first place. But I guess we'll never know, since this chapter doesn't bother explaining it (and the monks are dead, anyway). I guess the plot twists terribly, so I could be wrong. Even if we ignore that contradiction, how did Seiryu somehow float over the lava to catch Heihachi like that (without being seen by Kazuya)? Did he somehow warp the time and space??? I have zero idea. I expect answers, but get more questions instead. The whole Tekken Monks thing confuses me even more (and surely I'm not alone).
This is more of like a build up for Heihachi (without spoiling, play it you'll love it) and BIG BIG lore dumps, like some of the things that open up or written in the "Other" part of the story page are WILD. Tying some loose ends, hyping Heihachi but tbh what I like is, its a way to try the DLC characters to decide whether you want to buy them or not, I hope they do it next season too, both continuing the story lil by lil AND advertising their DLC like this...
Lmao yes! Going from Khaos Reigns giving me an aneurysm every time someone talks to Unforgotten Echoes making me and laugh every now then, in a good way, is giving me emotional whiplash
"You just press buttons on this character and stuff keeps happening". That brings back memories to picking Voldo as a meme back in Soul Calibur 2, you could press the controller against your face and he would do the wildest stuff.
You know, I wouldn't mind too much if characters like Bison and Heiachi DID come back as long as they did do it by getting a new big spin to the character. For example, since both apparently got memory loss, how about trying to make them neutral/good, desiring to find a new purpose that isn't world domination, like Bison could have just wanted to explore the world with his horse and no one bothering him and Heiachi could have been just a master chilling in his temple. But NOPE. They're still the same exact characters with practically no difference, sans Bison and Heiachi not having all control yet.
Like this is Tekken, saying Heihachi simply refused to die in lava would’ve been more believable than acting like Kazuya didn’t stay laser focused on his corpse to make sure he actually fell in the lava
I think it would've been cool if heihachi survived by just straight up either tanking the lava or getting revived off of his ridiculous will power or mystical means because he's just too determined for him to die. But I guess that would've probably been too goofy because if they did that. Then you could just go back to every time he was in mortal danger and ask ''why would he care if he can survive a dip in lava'' cause even when he tanked an explosion it still knocked him out for weeks before waking up
This was actually my assumption, that the monks and their spiritualism were being set up to - with Reina's help - revive Heihachi using Lidia's father as a vessel (since they put a weird amount of focus on him here.) Thus giving Lidia an actual personal stake in the story, and fitting within Tekken's existing themes of weird magic/demonic elements. And also giving Reina an actual reason to be here beyond """information broker."""

Foolish Kazuya, maybe next time don't blink at the exact nanosecond the monk jumped in to save heihachi inside of an volcano. Keep your eyes wide open next time!
Dude kazuya watched heihachi fall all the way to the lava and didn't blink or the monk cast a illusion because they can do that if he didn't it's because of that loving fuck harada want his favorite character back and of course money
👊A lot of people were complaining about the story DLC but I really liked it. It gave Eddy and Lidia a lot of character development and the stuff with Heihachi and the Tekken monks was awesome imo.
Bro gonna be real I would’ve genuinely preferred if Heihachi simply walked out of the lava through some weird ass Mishima technique, like his intro lines are about him saying how the lava wasn’t enough to kill him when in actuality he got saved by a deus ex machina monk
It must’ve happened when Akuma threw a hadoken at Kazuya and Kazuya turned to face Akuma. That’s the only reason that Kazuya didn’t see Heihachi fall into the lava.
No, he didn't. Go back and watch Tekken 7's ending Kazuya watched until Heihachi's body hit the lava, it took 12 seconds until it went back to Kazuya's face before he says, "A fight is about who is left standing." Akuma attacks after that line in the special fight, so no he did not distract Kazuya; it doesn't add up at all to established events.
It’s way lamer to have Heihachi taunt everyone for surviving a volcano when he git saved by a monk outta nowhere, his lines about surviving would’ve hit way harder if he somehow tanked the lava
I don't speak Portuguese, but I noticed that as well. When he's talking with his soldiers, Eddy still has that monotone speaking "tone". Only in his attacking sounds does his VA actually emote in his voice. I remember seeing similar criticisms with Shaheen. I guess it's a universal criticism with most of the non-Japanese characters in Tekken.
Lidia also speaks very formal Polish. Now this could be chalked up to her being a politician, but still, sounds a bit stiff sometimes, even to a native Polish speaker like me.

The only thing wrong with MK's dlc story was that it tried to do too much in a short time. Titan Havik should've been the villain for the sequel, MK2 so to speak. Have the whole vibe of the next game be a lot darker and crazy fitting of Havik and really go all in with it instead of just saying the word chaos over and over as if that alone conveys it. Have it be Titan Havik invading and trying to corrupt Lui Kang's timeline but keep it solely between the two timelines so we get proper character growth and knowledge of the characters in the main one.
