    Sucks about the exposure stepping! Not really acceptable (in my opinion) for a video focused zoom lens. Hopefully they can sort it out before the lens is released.

      It’s hard to talk about it before I can use the raw files of the xh2s since I’m looking at jpgs that might have corrections on them. I’m my experience though, the lens performed very well in all conditions. Very surprising for a lens that does so much

    I love this lens' potential -- I don't mind using some higher ISOs, but I'm a little worried about using f4 for sports photography/videography. I like the size-weight so much better than the 5-140 2.8. But, I'm concerned about low light.

    Hello! When you saying "for pure photography... i might suggest another lens", what do you mean by this ?

    • @darwiniandude

      Fuji lenses for photography have an aperture ring, manual zoom ring if zoom, and generally they have controlls which are better suited to photography. They also often have OIS in the lens, the optical stabilisation can really help hand hold some shots, especially combined with in body stabilsation. Also the photography lenses have a priority on sharpness throughout the frame, edge to edge, corners and centre. This lens tens to be a little soft away from the centre, compared to other Fuji lenses - but for film work this is probably a good thing for the most part. There are different design principals and this lens is heavily aimed towards video use, while being suitable for both.

    How's the focus ring travel? This is very similar to Sony's 18-105 power zoom, and one issue I have with that lens is the focus ring goes from close to far in barely an inch of turn. Very difficult to get precise focus manually.

    Hopefully Fuji fixes the exposure stepping before releasing these new products. Of the lenses I own or tested, the 10-24, 16-55, 18-55 step while zooming but the 50-140 does not.
    I think it’s a camera issue and not a lens issue.

    • @TaylorJacksonPhoto
      @TaylorJacksonPhoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Real estate I always want to be as wide as I can be, so 18 probably wouldn’t cut it for me.
      For low light tests, I was just running it on the h2s and won’t have access to my low light example raw files for another month or so until Adobe updates

    • @aristotle_4532
      @aristotle_4532 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do not want a lens with this zoom ratio for architecture and you need to go far wider. High contrast lines require very good optical quality, something impossible in such a zoom. The 8-16mm f2.8 zoom will do the job.

      Seems typical in video or broadcast lenses since most times they are part of a stabilized rig. Would be interesting to see a comparison with the FUJINON MKX18-55mmT2.9 since this brings par focal and power zooming to the one person documentarian

      @@TaylorJacksonPhoto Improved a lot but isn’t it a bit disappointing to come up with the same kind of issues re-video autofocus than previous models: like the changes in exposure when zooming in or out, the weird things in the corners,…. They’ve been working for at least 3 years on this thing. Still have my XT-2 and was waiting for this xh2s or xh2 (not sure a 40 megapixel sensor on apsc won’t bring some other issues). At this price point, it’s significantly more expensive than a Nikon Z6II.
      I’m not really interested in video but if I pay this kind of price, I want video to work as it should for when I need it.
      Without the weight issue of FF, I would happily go back to Nikon (my first love) or even Canon (the R6 really seems like a win for Canon).
      I will probably wait for end of year to see if Nikon comes out with a Z6III….
