Nice to see a review that encompasses both the top spec and entry level, it helps give real perspective of how much more you get versus how much more money it costs, thanks Tish
Currently driving a 2018 in the US - mid-level (LX) trim. Great fuel mileage, good handling (I'm happy with the steering), and it hauls yard supplies, etc., quite easily. A very comfortable "road car" in the U.S. - multiple trips of 3,000 miles and more with no complaints. No maintenance issues. I'm looking forward to the 2nd generation car.
I also have an LX (2019) Niro and agree 100 percent. Just hit 90,000 miles and routinely in the seat for 3-5 hours a day. The seats are surprisingly good and are better than Ford, Chevy, Toyota and even Honda at or near this class and price point. All signs point to this 2nd generation being even better.
Thanks Tish for highlighting this model as this particular new model is the only spec currently available on the mobility scheme and will be popping into the showroom for a peek tomorrow. Keep these lovely reviews coming Your have a refreshing natural talent
Reviews about entry level cars are hard to find. Mostly, they are about higher models, without attention for the entry level features. For example, the smaller mediascreen and different gear lever is the first time is saw it in a review. Thanks a lot! (from the Netherlands)
Entry level would do me fine and with the back seats folded down almost flat, plenty of room to stretch out and sleep with side boxes for cooking and a fridge. Yeah I could easily see myself in one of these Tish and I love the colours Red with black trim. Cheers for showing.
@@AutoSocialUK Tish I contact my local dealership and OMG the asking price for said car, basic entry is not £28k but closer to £30K. So this is a nice looking car but Not for me as previously written. Maybe a Toyota Yaris Hybrid would suffice my needs better?
Hello from Romania. Beautiful presentation for this very successful model. Interesting the advantage of the Kia brand and the fact that recently it offers attractive models.
Another thorough review Tish, well done once again. For what tends to be termed for the entry model of a car "poverty spec" this model certainly does not deserve that designation. Yes there are signs of cost saving when compared to the full fat version but that will cost a whole chunk more of that hard earned cash. It's just a great car with decent enough specs to live with and not feeling short changed. I like it from what I've seen but have yet to drive one. For now I'll stick with my Skoda but I'd consider it when it's time for a change.
I’m not sure there is anything I would want above and beyond the ‘2’ 🤔 Sensors and cruise are important to me. Heated seats and electric boot are a nice luxury but not essential
I just bought the 2023 Sportage PHEV Xline 2 weeks ago. Then driving by the KIA dealership a week later i saw they had this new NIRO Hybird. So i bought it, its a 2023 NIRO EX Touring hybrid. lol now i have both KIA cars
With Kia especially it's worth looking at the special edition models as they tend to be a "greatest hits" of most of the specs but also quite affordable for what you're getting (think of the 2021 Sportage Black Edition for example).
I ordered a RAV hybrid in April (Australia) and have been quoted 12 plus month wait. I’m. Considering changing to the new Niro hybrid instead. Thanks for a great review.
1:59 and that niro front end is totally different to mine - my24 ev2 nav. Whe did that change???!! 2:05 17” on mine 🤔 /(same model entry level UK) 5:34 mine has pockets on drivers and passengers back
My wife wanted the 3 spec but it's not available for nearly 12 months, our dealer has this spec in stock and although it's a lower spec than our current Niro 4-year-old 3 spec, this does look very good, we're off down to the showroom to test drive it today, it will be good to compare it to our 2019 model.
Yes, we bought it, it was a great deal, the spec is lower, no leather, no heated seats, no heated steering wheel, no sat nav, no App, and no folding wing mirrors, but its a nicer car to drive and better looking, it has blue tooth for google play, and Apple air connectivity, this actually make the sat nav experience better, it also seems more economical than the old Niro although time will tell as it still only has 500 miles on the clock
Really like this vehicle & your review. My only concern is the power/performance since I will be using it predominantly on the highway at 75 mph. Your thoughts please?
I have the EX model. It's fine at highway speeds. It'll never pin your head against the headrest when you floor it, but it's more than capable, even with 4 adults onboard. But nothing that gets 50+ mpg and is priced in the $28-34k range will do much better.
Couple of questions, can anyone clarify: - The rear vent is common to all Spec levels? I seem to recall another review inferred that it was only on the Spec 4 with the plastic panel (which does make much sense). - The circular gear/transmission selector is only on Spec 4, Spec 2 & 3 have conventional lever? Thanks in advance.
Prices have risen approx £500 to £700 since review depending on trim, not too bad an increase compared to some car manufacturers price rises recently. The fancy HK sound system has sadly been dropped on the top trim.
Here in BC Canada we are no longer able to pre order ANY Kia vehicle. The backlog is long, with wait times of up to 2 years for an EV of any kind and well over 6 months for a petrol fueled car.
Can you please remind us of the price again and also measure the space at the back with the rear seats folded down and the front seats fully forward to see how much length there is to sleep in it. Many thanks. Great review! Are you from Essex?
How come the "Cityscape Green" car looks more blue than green. Especially if you look at the promotional material from Kia, the car looks more olive green in those pictures.
When it comes to technology and value Kia and Hyundai are very hard to beat nowadays. The entry level models are even more so where buyers won't care too much about drivetrain and resell value. Always enjoy these real world reviews Tish. The dress looks good on you btw 👍
When you compared a transmission in this one with Tucson, it's worth to mention that the hev Tucson with a real automatic transmission is smooth as a butter. It's a useless dual clutch in other versions that is jerky. Here in the nero an electric motor compensate a little for a dual clutch jerkyness.
Infinitely better than any of it's competitors and as good as many cars which are much more expensive. A very sexy dress too xx Have to ask why the hell you drive an Audi with no adaptive cruise control when Kia and Hyundai offer so much more and come out better in reliability reports?
ONLY issue with this car is the navigation screen size, I wish manufactures would stop making these so small with the horrid plastic surround. Not that I would be seen in an entry level motor. :P 7:27 audio/video sync is out until the next cut. Was expecting to see some king-fu
Went to look at the exact model, looks more estate car than SUV. Some of the plastics looked cheap as did the displays. We opted for the Toyota C-HR hybrid.
I saw a Land Cruiser 200 Series V8 the other day. But they’re discontinued and no longer sold in the UK. They weren’t sold well here in Europe, unlike in some areas like Lebanon, UAE and Qatar where the Land Cruiser is the best selling car.
@@mreggs8010 There is the smaller Land Cruiser Prado still sold in the UK, but I don’t think she’ll do a review on it, because it has been out for quite a while.

Funny I think this car looks much better with the contrast side panel. I don’t think the plastic trim works at all without it and looks cheap. Also the extra boot space in this compared to the electric is significant. It sort of shows why these electric cars just need work to really be practical family options. The top spec really is over priced when you think you can buy a Skoda Kodiaq or Tiguan Allspace for that price and they are two classes above the Niro in size…and arguably in other ways too.
You make a very good point, thank you for sharing. The plastic doesn’t look too bad but I guess these are brand new, as they fade over time they might start to look dull
my 3 year old niro hybrid can do 105 Mgp ,,, normally it does 60 -70 mpg the driving is in town .. and we have a huge hill behind the house ... so its regen all the way down .. I'm getting the new one , as its on leese in September
50mpg ? It's hard to not achieve 60-67mpg unless freezing, raining and you're driving like a maniac. A minimum 40% electric engine at any time. I've driven 350+k miles in Kia cars, mostly in the hybrids for work and private
Yes the digital instrument cluster is not great although it WAS a sunny day and I didn’t have any problems reading it. Shame as the instrument cluster on the EV is loads nicer
I thought the last Niro especially from the rear was quiet classy. Yes it might have been boring but it was classy. If the Renault Arkana and it are in the same class then yes I would have the Arkana as Renault are making some very classy and stylish cars these days.
