Jim, Although your car leasing videos are informative, I really think you should do more car reviews like this. Concise and to the point. You don't bang on about this bit of trim or that bit of trim and why are other reviewers so obsessed with scratchy plastics? I just want to know how a cars drives, how comfortable it is, what it's like to live. with and how expensive it is to run. Some other reviews I've watched recently have either been downright silly or so overly technical, that I lost the will to live after a minute or two and I've been driving and working on cars for over 50 years. I know a camshaft from a crankshaft. So let's more reviews like this Jim.
Unlike many of the other channels I have no camera crew, writers, directors or editors so one of these is a lot of work for me. I also have rather more limited access to the latest cars. I try and do my best with what I have available to me though and love doing the reviews (I’ve done getting on for 100 I’d guess). You’ll find a few of mine on the Men & Motors Channel too.
Love the channel, suprised you didnt mention the different regen breaking levels, did you try it on the highest setting? Really helps to get that mpg abit higher especially in town
Kia have really stepped up the design and quality of their new cars. They have had a solid reputation for a while now, and cars like the new Sportage will only reinforce that reputation further.
Straight to the point, warts and all review, excellent stuff,🙏🙏🙏 I am currently looking to change my car and this one is on my radar, hence the interest. I love the piece about trim levels ie re Small sunroof, head up display etc, I totally agree and am looking at the 3 trim. Thanks again for an excellent review. Nice job.👍 Paul 🇬🇧 Ps just edited my comments after reading someone’s comments on delivery times etc. I was in the Kia dealership this morning (Tuesday 14th March ‘23) and was told there is a MINIMUM 6 month wait for ANY NEW KIA. Hope this helps?
Respect for the Frank Zappa reference!Alongside the differences you mentioned, In the UK the 3 in comparison to the 4 trim doesnt not have the 12inch instrument cluster you have there (contrary to what we were sold!) But a digital display, and it also has some of the driver safety features missing and a heads up display that you get with the 4 trim. And in terms of exterior you also dont get the weird c pillar bi colour thingy
Thanks Jacky, I was quite pleased with myself :) The one I had was pre-production model sent out early for the press fleet. I guess some of the specs maybe changed before they went on sale and of course some manufacturers have changes specs very recently to deal with the various supply chain shortages that are going on.
Good review - got the '2' spec of this a few weeks ago and loving it. It does have wireless Android Auto, though it did need a few extra hoops to jump through to get going, seems odd it wasn't on the '4'? Also hitting about 55 mpg on average, well happy with that
Not bothered about wired Android Auto since my phone doesn't have wireless charging, just a test of patience as there's along waiting list. Apparently Kia aimed to sell 100,000 units in 22/23 but received 140,000 orders.
Ordered one in December and it should hopefully be ready for collection in September!! Not great lead time for delivery IMHO and Im pretty sure I was told that they DO have wireless Andriod Auto/AppleCar which i was happy about as my 2020 Niro doesnt.
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru Oh, well fingers crossed then as ive ordered the level 2 spec with no sat nav and its a right faff having to plug my phone in to use waze in my old model which has sat nav but I prefer waze tbh.
@@ScuffleYT Yes it arrived in early October so ive had it for a couple of months and Im loving it, Im getting 60 mpg plus :) I am missing the heated seats and steering wheel that I had in the older model and most of all the auto door mirrors which the UK v2 model doesnt have so Im never sure whether ive locked it or not.. But all in all im very happy with it.
Nice car Jim but what is the delivery times on these buying them outright. Seems as if the dealers are keen on pushing leasing and PCP schemes as they get a physical car back in 2/3 years time guaranteed . Sell it to a cash buyer and the buyer can go and trade it in or keep it whenever they want.
wired carplay in this day and age should be ilegal. This really put me off. I have a car right now that is wired, and I hate it. Was hoping this one to be wireless carplay. Such a shame.

Excellent description of the car - fair comments- thank you very much
Glad you liked it!

Good choice! Buena suerte 👍

I use it on it's highest setting on most cars I test pretty much whenever it's available.
Great review Jim - very balanced!
Thanks Andy, ironically I'm terrible on a unicycle.

Completely agree Brian

Must have changed then, I test drove a '3' and it had the same screens as a '4'. The lowest spec does have a small infotainment screen.

Maybe it does have it, I only have any iPhone and after initial setup it insisted on pluging in. I maybe didn't jump through those hoops!
Hi, can you please specify the hoops?!
Nice one Jim!
Many thanks!

No idea mate. Dealers will push PCP but rarely push leasing or cash purchases.

👍
It’s like marmite you either like it or hate it. I like it 👍🏻 good value for money too
It’s grown on me a bit for sure, the car that is. I hate Marmite 😁
Shame it's so underpowered.
Is it?

Certainly impressive 👍 all things considered this is a great motor . Good review thanks for your efforts ☺️
