    He looks like a cool grandpa that teaches you how to tie a fishing knot, teaches you how to hunt, etc. One would never think he was one of the hardest hitting fighters in the NHL. I really like Dave Brown

      I waiting and hoping he writes a book on fighting in pro hockey. I read an Interview on Brown where he said the toughest guy he ever fought was Val James. Too bad Val James couldn't keep job longer in the NHL. Heads would of rolled.... Ask Terry O'Reilly poor guy got destroyed by Val James...

      @@mirandasalinas9412 you obviously never watched the documentary on Probert. He and his teammates said it slowed Bob down and did not do it but once. As for the steroid thing, most of tough guys were doing it, hgh too.

    Brown is a good guy and one of the top 5 enforcers from his era. Miss having guys like this on the Flyers. Guys who could change the whole tone of the game just by coming on the ice.

    During his 20 game suspension for cross checking Tomas Sandstrom (1987?), Brown actually tried some stand-up comedy at a club here in Philly…didn’t see him but I remember local cable doing a piece on it…

    Still remember that cross-check on Tomas Sandstrom. But not here to judge the man -- stuff happens in the heat of the moment. Dave was a tough intimidating presence and it's nice to see this candid clip. I think a lot of people think that these enforcers were ogres but they were really just decent normal guys who had a tough job to do.

    These enforcer type players are usually really nice off the ice. Watch any interview with Dave Schultz he’s articulate, thoughtful and seems like a really nice person.

    Unless you were around in the 80s/early 90s it's hard to understand just how intimidating Dave Brown was with the Flyers and Oilers.
    His fight videos are eye opening but really don't do justice to what a scary enforcer he was every time he hit the ice. Any shit going on out there ceased when he started patrolling the rink.
    One of the best ever. Top 5 in my book.

      Brownie is #2 all time on my list. Only guy who ranks higher was Probert. The whole tone of a game changed as soon as he came on the ice.

      I have been a flyers fan since 74 and Dave Brown is truly one of the best. When he stepped on the ice you just knew what was going to happen. Great memories

    #21 THE ONLY PRO JERSEY I EVER BOUGHT. DAVE BROWN WAS MY FAVORITE PLAYER. I USED TO GO SCALP TIX. AFTER THE GAME STARTED (MUCH CHEAPER) THAN SNEAK DOWN TO FIRST LEVEL SEATS. AND WHEN THE 4TH LINE WOULD COME OUT FOR A FACE OFF THE SPECTRUM WOULD GO NUTS. CAUSE EVERYONE KNEW BIG DAVE WAS ON THE ICE... AND HOW ABOUT WHEN THEY RETIRED #88 ERIC LINDROS NUMBER. HE GAVE A SHOUT OUT TO BROWNIE. THAT MADE ME SMILE.... NOW I CAN'T WATCH THE ICE CAPADES. THANK GOD FOR TH-cam SO WE CAN WATCH IT WHEN IT WAS FUN. EMPTY SEATS ARE A REGULAR THING IN PHILLY..     Best fighter I ever saw, (and that includes Probert and Laraque). Was chosen by other NHL enforcers as the most feared fighter in the league, (in the first issue of Tough Guys magazine).

    My favorite Brown fight was when he fought Bomber and completely destroyed him- broke his orbital bone i think. Bomber was always tormenting the smaller Flyers and the Flyers had re-acquired Brown and he made his presence felt quickly

    I remember listening to Philly rock station WMMR back in the day and the dj had Brown and Stanley in the studio and they were playing Dire Straits and other good tunes. It was cool. They seemed like cool guys

    This guy was a great fighter and one of the best at his job. He was also extremely dirty especially with a guy like Sandstrom. He honestly should have went to jail for those stick incidents.

    Of the flyer tough guys back in the day. I would never even think about missing a game, because of the fights and toughness. And yet , they were human and so humble off the ice. 👍

    6'5" tall and fought at 215 lbs. No steroids or cocaine in this man during his career. Definitely the toughest most destructive and feared pure natural drug free fighter in NHL history... This guy has a sense of humor, on the ice he was the terminator.

      Really drug free and steroids free when his teammate's and friends admitted to him doing it just like Chase,Domi,Gretzky,Messier,Twist just to name a few and keep it short,hell Probert wasn't the first as cocaine use in the 80's and 90's in the NHL was rampant go do some research on your hero's first.

    The biggest guy in the league for most of his career. He was tough as hell, but cowardly in some ways with the back jumping and waiting till guys are tired and pulling off his sweater and pads then going to jump in the fray. Not what i would want my top enforcer to be doing if I was his coach. The second Probert fight backfired, it pissed Probie off and he got up and beat the piss out of him. I would have loved to see him and Big Georges drop 'em.

      Yes. Quite a few actually. Don't let all the girlie love talk most of the guys on this posting are saying about Brownie. He was a cheat back stabbing sucker punching putz who always started throwing punches in most of his fights before the other guys even knew a fight was going to happen. The ones who he couldn't sucker punch usually knocked him around real good. He actually got knocked dizzy a few times and if not for the refs breaking up the fights, he would have been beaten even worse. He was not one of the best all time fighters. Maybe one of the all time best sucker punching back stabbing cheaters maybe. If he stepped into the ring with a real fighter, he would absolutely get the teeth knocked out of his big yapper. If he fought most of the guys he fought off the ice, he would not have done so well. No sucker punching or back stabbing. Fair and square. Then everyone would see just how much of a big time fighter he really was. Big difference on solid ground.
