Awesome before and after video! It’s hard to say if calatheas like to be divided. I have concluded: Even if they seem crowded and rootbound if they don’t separate super easily they don’t want to be divided.
Your network is huge! Wow I still have never found one locally....I am so glad you who have one are still loving it! So I will get one if I find one! I have killed many too...including a white fusion! I have been tempted to get another but it was such a hard weird death that I have resisted! Exciting! Thanks for the nice video :)
WOW, I wasn't expecting that !!! The first one I got is huge. Had to repot her. She stays outside. I was told they hate chlorinated water. She doesn't seem to care. What she did care about was the sunburn she got when I wasn't paying attention. My other one is in the house. It is by a southern facing window that has shear curtains. She seems to like it, at least for now. I know our zones are very different,(mine is zone 8)but have you tried one outside ??? That is where the majority of my plants are since I spend almost the whole day out there. Ive seen how you treat your plants. I know that yours will grow back just fine. 🪴🪴🪴
Hey Dianne. I don't take these ones outside....infact none this year. Last year it was so hot and dry here that thrips outside were brutal. I'm expecting this year to be the same. They were all over my lettuce and I was so upset 😡
I want one but I’m also trying to limit the number of plants I buy & just focus on the ones I already have. I’ve made the compromise if I find one on clearance it’s meant to be so I’ll buy it. Lol I’m glad to hear they aren’t finicky like most calatheas.
Thanks, Jeff for the musaica video. Found several at a big box store when out of town but they all had root rot so left them 😔Wasn’t meant to be this time, but will keep my eyes open as it is a beautiful plant to try.
Many thanks for this video. Great instructions for propagating! I remember when everyone was buying this beautiful plant. So sorry about the thrip incident. 😵💫. I can’t wait to see her come back under your care. She’ll be gorgeous again in no time. You are so good with your plant care. Take care! 👌🪴🥰
Nice video! Could you please tell me the name of the plant to the right , that is green with whitish center of leaves, when you were dividing up the plant repot? Thanks in advance!
I'm honestly not sure if they sprouted or not hahahaha The plant is doing great and now that I think of it, there is tiny leaves in one area of the pot so that might be one of them
@@EverythingPlants That’s awesome! My tubers didn’t sprout, but I am happy to report I’ve kept a Calathea alive and thriving for three weeks. Something I never thought I’d be able to do!
@@EverythingPlants yeah I don’t see any selling in Canada either. Would it be alright if I could get in contact with them because I need a systemic badly haha
Well.surprise ending. Wow 😳😲. Those. Thrips are terrible. I'm having an issue w/ mealybugs. On my philodendron Birkins. Terrible. Treating w/ hydrogen peroxide. For the soil. Good growing.🙋🙆🔼
@@EverythingPlants there a real pain , they hide. Change the soil. Wash the plant. There still one or two. Using hydrogen peroxide. Going to watch more planty videos. Have a good day.🙋😲🐛
Is there any drawback to using Bonide systemic granules on a regular schedule like every few weeks as a preventative measure? I’m in Connecticut & we’re one of two states where for some reason it’s illegal for it to be sold or shipped here, so if I want it I have to drive to Massachusetts or New York.
Great question! The chemical used in bonide systemic is harmful to all insects, even the good ones LIKE THE BEES! 🐝 This product is supposed to be used for indoor plants, but sometimes those plants go outside and you get the idea. Another downside I've heard of if you use systemic then you should use another preventative for spider mites....I think 🤔
It’s so nice that plants grow back after cutting them off. Yours will grow and be beautiful.
Thanks Norma! It will take awhile before I get it back to what it was.

The musaica and orbifolia are the only calathea I'll ever buy 🤣

A clearance musaica would be awesome!
Calathea musaica is a plant that's on my wish list. I love the look of those leaves.
Oh it's so beautiful....I hope you get one soon!
Thank you for sharing beautiful and amazing plants collection lovely plants collection

What a beautiful plant! Great video Jeff.

I don't stress too much about pests anymore....it comes with owning indoor plants lol
I have a small one but growing well. Certainly easier than the colorful calatheas
Ya, they are pretty hardy. One day you'll see like 3 or 4 new stems popping up!
Wasn't expecting that kind of surprise lol Learned a lot though
I said surprising 🤣
Can you do a video on PurpleSword Lavalkei. I'm having problems with the leaves.

Hello Sally! It is a syngonium wendlandii
@@EverythingPlants thanks so much! Looks like something else is going on my wish list… Again! Lol! 😉
Que ocurrio con el pequeño tubérculo?
I tried to propagate a tuber, but I got impatient and also probably did it wrong.
I’m really curious to see if yours grows something.

Hi dear
Why Musaica plants have holes in their leaves
Tp fr this video
I am guessing some sort of bug. Is it kept indoors or outdoors?
@@EverythingPlants bug no sir
I clean daily
I'm wondering if the little bulb you extracted became anything, or if it just died.
I'll have to go back and watch the video because I honestly forgot where I planted it 🤔
@@EverythingPlants You didn't plant it in the video, you just pulled it off the roots, commenting that you'd propagate another plant with it.
🤣 this clearly shows I have way too many propagations. I'll have to check my prop boxes. Thanks!
@@EverythingPlants If it helps refresh your memory, you found it at 8:14.
Do you have purple tip calatheas ?
Nope. Other than this I don't have any
it has yellow leaves. Think there’s hope if I let it dry out a little!
Yellow leaves can also be a pest issue. I know my musaica had thrips and it started with yellow leaves.
@@EverythingPlants thank you, I’ll have to check!
Hello! Where did you buy your systemic insecticide?
I don't think any stores in Canada sell it. I bought it off a Facebook from someone who brings it back from the states in bulk I believe.
