so we've had a couple of weeks now and without wanting to sound too premature i definitely think 3 finalists will be Aston, Alexandra and Debbie McGee. who do i think is going to win? i think it will be either Alexandra or Aston but not sure which. as for this week sadly i think it is either Brian or the reverand for the boot although Ruth and Charlotte will have to improve.

I think Chizzy's personality is really going to benefit her! Like just from this dance alone I'd say she's pretty confident (which already made her stand out a bit to me)

Alexandra is really, really good. They are already making the Rev look like a joke contestant. Aston is light on his feet (looks like an all-rounder, hope he's not lazy). Jonnie has one lazy leg, then I realised he's... Interesting how he's going to do heel leads and stuff. This year there appears more good female contestants. The two male actors (EE and Holby) are flat footed. Will they improve? We'll see. Brian has good timing but he may lack stamina. Dark horse might be Debbie. The rest of the female celebs so far, all merge into some generic blond bombshells in different coloured dresses (hence Chizzy and Susan stand out, I am not sure whether that's for the right reason yet)... I know I have missed LOT more, but I'll watch the launch show at home once I finish work!

Scd Observer 100% agree. Alexandra looks to be absolutely fantastic already! Her and Gorka will be one of the stand out couples in the competition, he's got a good one on his hands this year. Agree all of the blonde bombshells didn't really stand out from the crowd, but we'll have to wait and see I guess. Oti's partner might have some potential but Danny was truly exceptional, I doubt he'll be of that calibre, but again we will have to wait and see how it plays out. I agree with you though, this year the female celebrities show more promise than the male ones, whereas it was the opposite case last year lol. Looking forward to seeing all of the dances in two weeks time!
EE actor is that Indian looking younger and buffer version of Mark Ramprakash. Holby is that smiley Irish cheeky looking guy. There is another Holby actor, that's Chizzy...

The Reverend is going to have trouble. The emotionless expression on his face told me that he was so busy counting the steps in his head that he didn't and couldn't really connect to the dance at all. He'd be the first one out on DWTS.

Joe looks so terrified and awkward, but I hope he blossoms. At the moment, Aston looks like the male front runner and Alexandre and Mollie the leading females, but the best at the beginning often aren't the best at the end.

It’s taking me awhile to tell Mollie and Gemma apart! Some of them just look so happy to be there and that makes me smile. I’ve taken a warming to Debbie, Charlotte and Joe, I have no clue why but I hope they do well. We’ll just have to wait and see how they do!

Alexandra is feisty and ambitious so I predict that she will be in the final, at the very least. I'm not keen on Mollie and AJ together and think she should have been paired with Aljaz instead.

Yeah, but it's not like he's a teenager or something. Peter Andre was eleven years older than Janette and they made a good pair. There were ten years between Louisa Lytton and Vincent Simone. If they don't make a good pair, it's not necessarily because of age. I'm glad AJ's got someone a bit older this time round, because they were so patronising to him and Claudia last year.

Took a glimpse at today's opening show (as I always do) but soon noted that not only had contestants largely not again been selected on potential dancing ability but that the show's political agenda had yet become more entrenched i.e.
'We must be balanced and promote queer, black, handicapped, and fat.'
Had I watched for more than a few minutes I feel confident that they would have had 'old' covered too! Again, as much as I love dancing, I will give the show a miss and avoid vomiting or attempted liberal brainwashing.

Ivan Sanders Strictly NEVER chooses its celebs based solely on dance ability. That will be So You Think You Can Dance. Not Strictly.
Ivan: Like Scd Observer said, the show doesn't solely pick contestants who have potential. That's never been the point of Strictly. In fact it's funny that you're complaining about Strictly not choosing based on dance potential, because usually complaints have been about celebs with too much potential being ringers.
The fact is people don't always watch Strictly solely for great dancing. Remember when people kept voting to keep (the famously balletic and nimble) John Sargeant in? If you want contestants who all dance amazingly, this is not and has never been the show for you. It's like turning up to a comedy and being upset that it isn't a horror film.
Strictly includes a variety of celebs (varying in background: age, profession, personality, ethnicity ... or whatever else) so everybody in the audience finds a favourite they find inspiring or identify with. And the "handicapped" members of the audience (and the public at large) don't just disappear if their "agenda" isn't "promoted" on TV.
And in any case, it looks like Alexandra and Aston (two of the black celebs) are among the celebs with the strongest potential this series. If you do come back when Strictly properly starts up in two weeks, I hope you'll be able to put aside the paranoia and just enjoy the dancing.

Strictly Come Dancing contestants "queer, black, handicapped, fat " ?... Maybe you should write to the BBC and complain, making it clear that all the contestants should be heterosexual, 'white', able-bodied and slim. PMSL ... 😩 SMH.
Not many of this bunch can be called Celebrities!! I've seen that guy who was in Heartbeat before and there's that awful woman who married to the Irish bloke Eamon something! Oh yes, Paul Daniels' wife...not really a celebrity but she seems nice. Real shame about Brucie, the two women who host it now are dreadful, have to push the "mute" button when they come on.
What's the point in watching the show if you are just complaining about it? Just because you don't know them doesn't mean they aren't celebrities
