To be fair, the sun was probably coming up around that time since it was summer and it’s that far north. It wouldn’t be pitch black out. The sun rises 4:30 to 5 in the part of the states. I don’t think the screams came from the re-enactment, but it still would have been somewhat light out. Kind of makes it weirder that no one saw anything major happen.
Hard to imagine why people keep reenacting the civil war tbh... I love learning all about war crap but that was a shitty war & the reasons were heart-breaking.
A female name like Joan could work, too. You can picture a woman of this name that Jodi knew, accompanying the kidnapper, for instance. In this case, the crime might be motivated by an extorsion of some sort, maybe information... Instead of sexual gratification. She was a local journalist after all, maybe she was unto something big, which would also explain the baffling immobilism of justice when it comes to her case. It's low probability, but heh, the witness just heard the scene. He had no other context around it.
@Lon Hixson Then again, individually, we have different prosody, so pronunciation of the same word or name may slightly differ from one person to another (things like regional accents are parameters to take into account, for instance) Besides the neighbor simply overheard it, so a misunderstanding may add up. It can factually be any of the names we have mentioned in the thread, unfortunately... Makes for a poor hint.

Screaming 'help' is also a good idea. I live in an area with lots of children and when they're outside playing, they scream a lot. Sometimes drunk people scream for no reason. @chris kibodeaux How is it proven he didn't do it? His alibi was 90 minutes later, so he could most definitely HAVE ("of".. wtf?) done it. The fact that he didn't seem off or nervous around his friend who he went running with isn't necessarily proof either. If he's a cold, sick bastard, then he could easily come off as unaffected by what he'd just done. It's not like he seemed to be particularly upset in the interview he did either...
It depends on the reason as to why he would name the boat after her - if he did it out of the reason to honor her, then I see know issue with it, however, if he did it out of clear obsession and with intent of pleasing her - then it becomes creepy.

Really appreciate your approach to the stories you cover: a blend of intelligent analysis and withering humour but never disrespectful
The fact that she “over slept” for work seems important. I think she was likely distraught which caused her to over sleep. My guess is that John assaulted her when she went to his house to watch the video. He then became worried that she would report him, and so he abducted/murdered her to prevent her from reporting him.
That, or she didn't actually "oversleep". Something else caused her to run late, or lose track of time, and people just assumed she overslept.
Netflix and murder. Seems plausible
I believe I read in the past that it was not unusual for her to run late and the station calling her to make sure she was awake was a common routine.
You can't determine that unless you know her track record. If they didn't make a big fuss over it, I'd assume she has a history of oversleeping.

Shawn, John, or Ron. I'd say the neighbor who heard that is spot on.
Who knows. She didn't seem too safety conscious
@Lon Hixson
Then again, individually, we have different prosody, so pronunciation of the same word or name may slightly differ from one person to another (things like regional accents are parameters to take into account, for instance)
