Maybe he survived this Kamehameha blast and died like that... Having your kid face a living bulldozer like Goku, and then be shot, would put a lot of fear into any father's heart for your son's safety (robotic replica or otherwise)

I love the added touch that Gero's son has a bird cage and you can hear the bird tweeting. It's those details that I love, especially since 16, who is modeled after Gero's son, had a love for birds. I would love it if someone made a fan animation of Gero finishing 16 and he replays this video. Having his computer run it again, to hear his son's lasts words. As he's finished with 16, he decides that he can't go through with it and have him risk being destroyed by Goku and the others.
The sad thing is as a father. I can see Dr. Gero pain and makes me tear up.. He let his work get in the way and now he had to see his son his little boy be taken from him. The heart break a father who looses a child is a hard burden to bare not to mention he partially responsible.
I can also see him doing that one thing from Onward where Gero responds to Gevo Hi Gevo And you can keep your bird Vomi as well that is very lucky heh. *starts tearing up* yeah I was thinking of android ok I love you to so *tramission ends and Gero replays it.

I’m sorry Toriyama-Sama, rest in peace, but I prefer this revelation on Gero’s son’s fate than just getting killed on a mission. Goku’s assault the Red Ribbon base and indirectly killing Gero’s son gave Gero a more personal reason to hate and kill Goku makes it more compelling.

TFS is great, but they have the advantage of hindsight. Toriyama was pioneering a relatively new genre, heck a lot of animes wouldn't exist without him. And a lot of things he had to improvise as well. As said, TFS had the advantage of hindsight, they know the already established story of Toriyama and written things around that. In a fantastic, great way, I love TFS, but their work is literally based on Toriyama, and also Toriyamas version was more epic. TFS is better in the way that they were able to fix things Toriyama couldn't correct or add things that fit into the world. They are basically very good modders, who improved the game. I know he didn't actually die by Goku's attack on the base, but it makes sense and it gives Gero's hatred for Goku a deeper layer.
