Fade-outs used to be ubiquitous in part because they made it easier for radio DJs to transition between songs. I suppose the decline in the importance of radio has brought the complete ending back into fashion. I don’t think the fade is necessarily a lazy move, though. It can really contribute to the experience and vibe of a song and the flow of an album.
“I Just Wasn’t Made for these Times” gets even deeper when you realize that Brian Wilson had a mental breakdown while making the (even more groundbreaking) follow up to “Pet Sounds” due to a combination of drug use and pushback from some of the band & his new direction. The Beach Boys are an amazing story. From their early 60s surf rock to the groundbreaking music Brian Wilson made in the mid 60s, then to his utter downfall. They then went on to release some AMAZING albums in the late 60s and 70s that almost no one listened to. They then mostly folded into an “oldies touring group” from the 80s - present. Brian Wilson finally got his due though. The recognition of Pet Sounds as a truly masterwork came in the 90s. Then around 2011 he FINALLY finished the follow up that sent him into a mental breakdown in 1967 “Smile”
Correction, what came out in 2011 was the Smile Sessions. Brian released a version of Smile as a solo album in 2004, but he has stated that it differs substantially from his original vision. There never was nor ever will be a finished version of a 1967 Smile the way Brian envisioned it.
I understand your tangent on fadeouts! Fading out on a chorus or verse imo is just so tacky. Brian Wilson though, he usually wrote and made specific sections for the fadeout, so it's an exception for me
@@neillenet291 It was written with the Pet Sounds songs. Brian pulled it 3/4 way through the album. It was then released right after Pet Sounds, as a single later in 1966. Brian was going to then also include it on SMILE in 1967.
I don’t really wanna put someone to much pressure with requests but i would highly appreciate it if you would react to the album kick i by Arca or Trinity by Eartheater, you can choose one wich one you like so idrc but one of these would be amazing.
@@whoisdonnieboi Yes thank you, the reason why i love her sm is bc she makes her own beats and sings on them in the most fascinating way. All of her albums are so different, yet somehow the same. Some information about some popular albums if you don’t know how they sound: Arca - Self Titled: Depressing, especially her lyricism in some songs when you translate it, you can hear her voice pretty clearly in most of the songs. Kick i: best kick for me, i love it bc it has like everything in it, amazing features (bjork, shygirl, SOPHIE), very experimental (idk what to say else) kick ii: some songs have that typical spanish type beat, at the end it gets more experimental, also sia feature Kick iii: my second fav arca album: also VERY experimental, fantano gave it a 9/10 rating and idk what to say else its very good Kick: iiii: a weaker arca album but still good Kick: iiiii: very chill, the most listenable album of Arca

The casino comment is a good call. The track Pet Sounds was meant to be in a James Bond movie but it was rejected, so Brian put it on the album.
