I remember playing this a lot back when i was a kid. Playing with a friend two player mode was always fun especially with different terrains stages to choose from and i believe you can even pick stages that had random rocks that you can fall over very easily, ice stage etc. From what i can remember stage 11 i believe was vs Argentina and those guys were really fast, way too fast when comparing to the rest of the stages and probably the hardest to manage well at least in my case. Final Brazil had more power but man that Argentina speed. I believe i was spamming special strikes just because i was too scared they will take my ball and manage to easy outspeed my entire team any second after that. Always love the effects with the special strikes and the humor was priceless. Also that background soundtrack so much memories. Watching this after not playing it for over 17 years. Thank you for making this video.

As Japan, I beat Argentina 11-9. I played this game for the first time since 2009. With a few steps for powershot as Japan (along with France), I can handle them very well. Our defense was good (mostly sliding coz tackling led to killing yourself). I honestly played myself as Susumu since he was faster than the others (besides Kenji). After months of getting the nostalgia back, I started to play some tricks on my teammates which put a smile on my face. Examples: 1. Repeatedly knocking a Cameroon dude close to my goalkeeper til he dies 2. Score for the other team with goalkeeper join in enabled 3. Killing multiple guys with a supershot and then miss 4. Opponent goalkeeper failing to kill me as I approach his goal
@RyudoXy you do them exactly the same as normal supershots. the supershot-style is just different. just choose USA and then pick Dayv or Brian. no other team or player uses their supershot-style. check out my supershot tutorial if you don't know how to do the running supershot.

Italy (Don on team USA) had the best supershot by far, it was completely unfair All other shots can on occasion be stopped by the goalie, but that rising shot had a 100% chance to score, and with Don it was easy to spam his running super shot (just count 5 steps) so even when you ran out you could spam the super fast regular shot at an angle that made it impossible for goalies to stop
The one thing I always loved was, when you do a super shot every other player on the field was just watching the situation. I know they couldn't do anything but their faces + the situation = it's hilarious. It's like "good luck, goaly!" xD
Very good game, much better than 'Kunio-kun no nekketsu soccer league'. Faster, nice control, music is awesome. Nice idea to mix fighting and soccer in one game..and we got NWC, thank you Technos
This game was the first one that my brothers and I had as we are 4 brothers, this game was our favorite of a lifetime and as it was played with 4 players, this game was great.
Not Double Dragon, but all the NES Kunio-Kun games had that look, River City Ransom, Crash & The Boys Street Challenge, Nintendo World Cup and Dodgeball. Theres a bunch more in the series too that were Japan only, including a hockey game, a volleyball game, and a basketball game that kinda plays like an early NBA Jam mixed with Nintendo World Cup

My friend from my street had this game, we get togheter to play this, 6 kids playing this, if you lose you pass the controller to next in line and the winner keep playing till lose and pass the controller, good memories.

I never could workout how to do these power shots though and the CPU would always wreck me with them. seems whenever I did them it was by luck.... and of course no internet back then to look up how! This game is Legendary though, those sprites are forever burned into my memory. I think I only ever beat it once, games were hard as hell back then, not like the games of today which in contrast feel like a cakewalk.
My friend used to take his NES down to my house and we'd play this and TMHT, Fever Pitch Soccer(aka Head-on Soccer) for Snes/Megadrive and Super Shot Soccer on PS1 are other non-realistic? football games.

I was/am in love with this particular franchise with the characters from River City Ransom and Super Dodgeball. All three titles are absolute winners.
My friends and I would keep replaying the match against Cameroon just to tackle their players until they were knocked out. That never got old.
